    I’m relatively confident you’ll love Rose Throne. I loved them, but was constantly thinking (in the first 2 books), “oh, just like in Peaky Blinders.” A problem you won’t have. And when you finish the series, go watch PB. 😀

    I'm not sure on my TBR list for the whole month but my next 4 books will be:
    1. Cutting Season by Attica Locke
    2. My Heart is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones
    3. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger
    4. The Long Goodbye by Chandler

    Mike you have got to be the best booktuber around. I have been an avid reader my entire life but I am relatively new to booktube. For a long time I was only aware of daniel Greene and Murphy but after reading red rising I stumbled across your channel and I can't believe I missed out on this channel for so long. "That is what I do here, I ruin people's lives" 🤣
    I am mildly interested in Blackwater but the horror aspect tends to be so hit or miss so keep postponing.
    Am actually different in that I like first person when done well - Kingkiller, Sun Eater would be two examples. Second person is the tough sell for me. Very rarely is it done tolerably, let alone well imo.
    Happy reading!

I really think you will be able to get on with Thomas Piety's 1st person narration, he has such a compelling voice. And I am also excited to hear what you think of Stones of Light. • @suvash11
      @suvash11 7 місяців тому

      I just finished reading the third book in the series. If it helps, it drifts away from the Peaky Blinders vibes and becomes it's own thing.

    • @VicV
      @VicV 7 місяців тому +1

      @@suvash11 I'm totally ok with PB vibes. I noticed them a bit too late than I probably should. Partly because someone told me that this book is like Black Company and didnt mention PB at all. So for me this discovery was more like a pleasent surprise since I quite like PB in a first place. And later it became a fun thing in trying to find all those parallels between TV show and the book. Taking inspirations is a dangerous path but I think if it's done in a different media format and if it's done right, than why not. Book is looking good overall. Yet it's always nice to know that the series would grow into it's own thing. That's usually for the better.

    @suvash11 7 місяців тому +1

    Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Priest of Bones! I just finished the third book and I love it so far. I don't know if I would compare it to First Law given that it is more street level stuff and much more contained then First Law. I am a big fan of both though. While it is first person, I found the character's voice incredibly addicting. I personally struggled with the first person narrative in Red Rising but had no problem with this.

    I feel like I'm the only person who didn't LOVE Justice of Kings. By all means, it should have been one of my favourites, but fell short of the mark. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had binged it but I didn't find it to be a story I'd be engrossed in, but I do see the potential for the sequels to change my mind.
