Hi guys! I’m sure plenty will bring up some I forgot. Right now I think my biggest omission would be Licanius by James Islington & The Nevernight Chronicle by Jay Kristoff. But I’m sure there will be more.
I'd be curious to hear where you'd slot it. I rank it up there with Mistborn. Curious if it would make your Top 10 or if it would have been an honorable mention.

I just got into reading recently with LOTR and your videos have been fantastic in helping me decide what I want to read next to get into these different genres. Man I love your reviews. I started with r.a. In 6th grade then progressed through the forgotten realms. Eventually tackling Stephen kings works….until I discovered Robert Jordan then back to king. Just basically I love what you do and I really appreciate your honest reviews.R.A. Will always be my favorite because of my childhood but I have to honestly say, it is nostalgia. The First Law is by far my favorite trilogy. One that's rising fast for me is the forgotten warrior saga by Larry Correa
Just finished the new book of the forgotten warrior saga. This series is great. It’s definitely one of my favorites. You should also try his new book that came out last year …Servants of War. Larry is becoming one of my favorite authors.

Waldenbooks is where I bought my set of Lord of the Rings with the horrid 90's covers. Great memories there.

First Law tops my chart, I have read all three books at least a half dozen times and then I was introduced to Steven Pacey in the audiobooks, and wow, he brings the characters to life, with his numerous voices and accents. I fell in love all over again, and have listened to the series more times than I have read them and they still have yet to get old. I now own everything Ambercrombie has written on audio

Oh man, I totally agree on the Thrawn Trilogy! I used to read Star Wars books religiously as a kid back in the 90s. They had a whole shelf of Star Wars novels in my local library and I read my way through it all. Grand Admiral Thrawn will always be my favorite Expanded Universe character. Loved him then, still love him now.

Hi Mike, that's a good list, off the top of my head I can think of The Riftwar Saga (Raymond E Feist) & The Empire Trilogy (Janny Wurts & Raymond E Feist).
You had mentioned "The Warlord Chronicles" in a video last year which piqued my interest, so I read all three books starting last January. Awesome trilogy! The first chapter or two was a challenge to get into the flow of the story, but it took off from there. I'll check out another of his series in the future. And years ago (mid 1980s?) a shopping mall about 20 miles away had a Waldenbooks at one end and a B. Dalton at the other. I was in book heaven whenever I went there!

Ah Red Rising, the first video I’ve ever watched of yours like close to 3 years ago, when I think you had under 30k subscribers, was Red Rising! Trusted your thoughts ever since. Solid list Mike keep doin what your doin.
Developing good/great characters is SO IMPORTANT. I am with you. I can forgive messing up other facets of a story, but same - if I don't care about your characters - forget it!
I'm going to have to bookmark this. I read the Thrawn and loved it. The Warlord trilogy would be my #1 of trilogies and I'm on red rising now.

I honestly haven't read many trilogies. LOTR and SW Heir to the Empire (Thrawn trilogy) are the only two I can remember. Brian Lee Durfee's trilogy will probably make the list when I finish it along with Gwynne's Bloodsworn trilogy as well.
I actually just bought the Thrawn Trilogy to read for the first time, I wasn’t alive when it came out but I’m excited to finally read the trilogy. At least we get to see Thrawn in the Ahsoka series.
I've had Red Rising on my bookshelf for 6 months and this video has convinced me to read it. I KNOW people like it but the way you describe this makes me WANT to read it.

Ah yes, Walden Books. Loved that place. I didn't read the Thrawn trilogy until 9 years ago, but I definitely remember when Heir to the Empire came out. I must admit, I was intrigued but never took the plunge
Heir of the Empire will always be Episode VII to me. I remember my dad lurking, just waiting for for me to put it down so he could read it. He was skeptical at first but that trilogy quickly became a shared experience. Two bookworms, one book. Just glad we had two bookmarks. Heh.

It is scary to me how high a bar LoTr sets. You read it and it just makes everything else seem like pulp fiction.
The Fionavar Tapestry by Guy Gavriel Key is one of my favorite trilogy. The writing is beautiful and the caracthers well rounded. A group of friends that gets thrown from our world into a parallel fantasy type universe. Great ride.

I just picked up the Farseer Trilogy and am about a third of the way into the first book and am loving it so far, I love her writing style and character development, it's a tough one to put down lol.
Great list! I was going to throw out some of my favorites but I'm realizing some of my favorites aren't actually trilogies! Riyria Revelations was republished as 3 volumes but really 6 books. Also I think of the Hitchhiker's Guide being called a trilogy despite being five books.
That’s what made it tougher than I originally thought.
I did not expect the see a D&D trilogy on here. That was a nice surprise, however it was from reading the D&D books in high school that I got into playing D&D.
Not listened to many audiobooks but my favourites are Red Rising 1-3, Mistborn, LOTR (Phil Dragash Theatrical version) and First Law.

Great choices as usual Mike. LOTR reigns supreme in my heart as well. Some honorable mentions in my world: Foundation trilogy, The Dragonlance Chronicles, and The Dragonlance Legends.

Red Rising has hit me in such a way that I truly feel about it the same way as many feel about Dune. Such incredible characterization, an engrossing world, and just so many things that make you think about the questions is brings up.Please dont do yourself the disservice of stopping after the OG trilogy it grows so well when Mr. Brown takes off the gloves and expands to multiple view points.
I need to finish the second first law trilogy I love it as well. San Glockta is a top 3 character for me for sure.

Great list! Personally, I'd add the Book of the Ancestor by Mark Lawrence and the Divine Cities by Robert Jackson Bennett.

--It's great to see a Booktuber who enjoyed Icewind Dale. I read it years ago, and enjoyed it. It may be time for a re-read. Eventually.
--Hope to finish the Mistborn trilogy. The beginning was quite promising, but life got in the way. Hope to re-start it and finish the trilogy.
--Totally agree with the Thrawn trilogy. Mara Jade is one of the most awesome characters ever ( I confess to being a huge Luke/Mara shipper. Love Han/Leia too). It's canon for me.
--Lord of the Rings. Unmatched. Simply unmatched. What a beautiful story with gorgeous writing and endearing characters.
Other trilogies I really like:
--The Hunger Games.
--Obsidian Mountain trilogy by Mercedes Lacky and James Mallory
--I'm likely in the minority, but I still have fond memories of the original Shannara trilogy.

I love the century trilogy by Ken Follet. As it follows 3 generations of 5 families navigating the events of the 20th century
I’ve been wanting to read this but am intimidated by the page count. Lol.
This is my first Follett trilogy and I’m amazed by the historical part of it. Even though it’s a novel, you learn so much about how the powers shaped the world! One book down, I’m hooked!👍

I'm almost done with the red rising trilogy and it is amazing. First Law was dang good! I'm scared to move on to the newer books. I don't want to sully my take on that world. I need to start Drizzt, Mistborn, and you are making a good case on starting live ship
I haven’t read very many trilogies, so I guess my favorite Trilogy would probably be either Maze Runner or Mistborn. I don’t know what it was about Maze Runner, but I guess where I was when I read those books I really enjoyed them and couldn’t put them down.
Maze Runner was so sick. Used to love that trilogy when I was younger

On of mine is The Straw Men trilogy by Michael Marshall, a brilliant inventive, intelligent and gripping writer in the horror thriller genre (and in sci-fi as Michael Marshall Smith).

I don't quite have 10 trilogies but here's my list! Top 3 is a sure thing, the rest I'm not so set on the order:
1) Troy by David Gemmell
2) Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee
3) Winnowing Flame by Jen Williams
4) Gods of Blood and Power by Brian McClellan
5) Riyria Revelations by M.J. Sullivan
6) Of Blood and Bone by J. Gwynne
7) Powder Mage by Brian McClellan
I've read quite a few others and while I enjoyed some of them and would technically make my top 10 I wouldn't call them favourites.
Thought The Five Warrior Angels or Of Blood and Bone might have earned at least honorable mention. Great list though!
Currently reading Lord Of The Rings for the first time. I’ve been enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would after coming off of ASOIAF
I just did that last month. The Fellowship didn’t really work for me but I’m really glad I read it
I typically don’t like writing from older authors. It just doesn’t hold up as much in my opinion. Tolkien is the exception to the rule.
I’m nervous to start it because it’s so built up. But I feel as if I must. Same for Dune.

@@rosssims7224 I read the first Dune and felt it was ok. Probably much better at the time, but so many others have been influenced by it, that it feels like so many other things. But the sequels (Mesiah, Children, and God Emperor) are absolutely worth the ride.

I don’t know if I’ve read enough trilogies to have a top 10, but I’d definitely have Greenbone, Lord of the Rings, Mistborn, and Red Rising in it. Outside of those, I’d have the Nevernight trilogy in it. I also have yet to read the 3rd book in a handful of trilogies, so possibilities are definitely there.

I love the Grand Admiral Thrawn trilogy as well as the Icewind Dale trilogy! I think I might give the Red Rising trilogy a chance after watching this.
I was shocked at the ending of the First Law trilogy and Glokta's piecing the puzzle together. As I'm working through the standalones, I found that at least in "Best Served Cold" it is almost directly laid out in a particular scene where Monza also seems to understand some of what's happening. I'm hoping to get some more bits and pieces in the rest of the standalones and Age of Madness. Also, THRAWN!!! I told my kid this morning that I had many of the original EU books and she, at 6 years old, wanted to read them with me. I may have to be selective since some of that EU stuff can be pretty dark.
Till date the First Law trilogy and the sequel, Age of Madness is hands down the best book series I have ever read.
You should read musashi it’s like the manga vagabond but it’s a different tale on the story and I believe it’s what vagabond was inspired from
Last year I did the read along on the channel of the Warlord Chronicles by Cornwell, and I can confidently say that it’s my favorite trilogy of all time. I can’t believe I’ve still never read a Sanderson book!! For no particular reason either, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. But I gotta read Mistborn this year. Also, Mike, “Destiny is All”?? Isn’t that The Saxon Tales??

My favorite trilogy is the Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen R. Donaldson.
There was just something terribly heartbreaking about returning to a world that was previously saved only to find its lands corrupted, people's enslaved, and ancient cruelties relived. No other book trilogy comes close to hitting me that hard.

Red Rising first trilogy blew my MIND this year.
All the Timothy Zahn and Kevin Anderson expanded universe books were stellar... dad had them on the shelf listed as compulsory reading before I could dive into any proper adult fantasy when I was growing up. The storytelling was spectacular. Sad to see all of it replaced with Disney canon.
I loved the first trilogy of Thrawn from Zahn. And agreed, Disney has gold they could tap into but seem to refuse to.
