Nice Video! How heavy is the automatic transmission part of the transmission? I planning to do the two seals in between the automatic transmission and the differential while its still in the car. It's a 1982 Audi 5000T with the 087 transmission
I just had mine rebuilt at a shop and after installing it it won’t go into reverse. What would cause that? You can hear it shift when moving the shifter but won’t actually engage.
Thanks for the kind words Steve. Unfortunately this transmission is quite a bit bigger than a beetle transmission. You could make it fit and work but it's going to require lots of fad work. I have this in a dune buggy and had to cut the rear frame horns off and build new mounts because it's so wide it almost touched the trailing arms on a IRS. There was a gentleman on the samba that used one from a type 3 and documented how he did it if you truly interested in doing it. One note of caution if you get one from a type 3 make sure you get all the shifter and linkage with it. If I can find the link later I will place it up here.

The actual automatic unit is not that heavy, probably around 50 pounds would be my guess.

My guess would be something is in the valve body.
