- I felt i needed to do something else in the garden except dig, barrow and rake away. This is a very easy job. It was actually easier than the patio. Patio is still holding up well but just needs a clean.
Well done, instructive and concise video. I particularly appreciate the lack of unnecessary jibber-jabber.
Fantastic video.
I can tell you are a perfectionist. Great job!
Haha! anyone that knows me says the same. I put a flagpole up not long ago and my wife was getting pissed off because I wasn't happy until it was perfectly level .
Great job Young Man. And you didn't use any concrete. Great idea for the edge of my property. Separating my neighbors driveway from my lawn. They keep driving on my lawn when they park. Very irritating 😒
I love it!!! Simple! To the point! … and not expensive! I don’t complement others much, besides a thumb up… but you deserve a CONGRATULATIONS! 😉
Wow! Thank you
Thank you so much for this helpful video!
What an awesome video! It was simple and to the point. Gave me the confidence I needed to take on this project.
Thank you, I'm glad i could help
Nice work dude, I'm gonna use the idea for Bbque grill surround. I will use an angle grinder w/masonary blade to save time on the stone cutting:)
Will work great for bbq. I also did a video on cutting this stone it’s easy and you don’t need an angle grinder. Thanks for your comments
Nice job Andy. I am thinking of building this to put my parents ashes in, so it can be both a monument in their honour, and also a seat to sit and reflect. Wish me luck 🙏
Hey that's a nice thing your doing. Good luck.
Looks comfy…
Beautiful works great job and thank you for sharing this, Andy!
Great compliment, thank you
What a beautiful seat. I love your video. Not all that chatter just get er' done. I found your video because I want to do a wall/seat maybe planter around my patio. Debating whether or not to hire or do it myself but after looking at this video I think I will be doing it myself.
It really is basic diy, just remember to keep it level or it will look crap and take your time. Thank you for the kind words.
Really nice job
Great job!! I don't know why no comment on such a detailed video, thank you!
Thanks Noel
Thanks for the wonderful video.
Thanks and I'm glad it helped
Hi Patty, thank you. The wall is 66 inches long x 21 inches high but you can customize it too whatever height and width you want it to be.
How much did the paver blocks cost approximately for that dimension wall?
Great video
Thank you
Great job! Helped me a lot. Thanks
well done.. nice work!
Thanks a lot!
Looks good man
Looks good. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you
What is called a chisel at 5:38 is also known as a brick set, for anyone that decides to purchase one.
That chisel is actually called a brick bolster
First of all there is more surface area so less chance of hitting your hand and secondly you can control it more and make it bounce less so when cutting bricks and blocks I prefer a more dead blow than a bounce. For nails i will use the round end. Try it and see.
Nice job. Quick, simple and to the point. Im planning on something like that myself in the near future. Just curious, what size stones did you use?
Hope you appreciate this, just went out in the rain and measured them. They are 11 x 8 x 4 and bought from Lowes. Thanks for the kind words
what is the height and width of your wall? it looks great- well done!
For the existing paver patio. Did you use the paver base panel? Just curious
Sorry yes, the patio has paver panels
Thank you so much. Do you recommend the paver panels? Or the standard 4-6” rock base?
@@charveyurbano4974 I think the patio video I done is around 4 years old and the patio is still flat as a pancake. I think
the panels are the way to go for me but they are expensive for the size.
Alright, sounds good. thank you so much
Andy are you in no freeze zone? Would you have to set the pavers( wall blocks) lower in the climate where the temps drop to -15 degrees?
Yes, I am in Florida we get cold only for around 2 weeks of the year. In my opinion it's a small wall and it is a feature so I think that even if you did one more coarse to be safe you should be good.
I think I paid $3 a block around $200? but you can get them from paver places by the pallet load cheaper than Lowes.
Hi. Enjoyed watching your video. I’ve been wanting to make a seat off of my patio which has a slope downward, but I don’t even know where to start tackling “the slope”. What would you do?
My video is also on a downward slope, maybe not as bad as yours but you do it exactly the same way but your holes will be deeper. The long level you use is key. This is just an example. So dig your holes, one maybe 2 inches deep and the other maybe 4 inches deep. Now place 1 block in each hole and place a level ACROSS THE 2 BLOCKS NOT INDIVIDUALLY Remove or add dirt until level. Then add your base and do the same thing. Tamp it down for a solid base. This is your foundation to start from. It does not matter if your first line of blocks is underground and it will be if you say your slope is bad. Build until you reach your desired height but check for level on each row. It really is easy, you may just need to see it built before you start just to picture what you are doing. I do this quite a lot. Hope this helps and good luck.
Pretty sure they won't if you put the wall up. Thank you for you kind comments
Can you tell me do you get the capstones and the size so I can purchase like yours. Its beautiful
Those capstones are 2 of the large paving stones in the garden center at Lowes for $6 each. Thank you for your kind words.
Sir,
Ok How many pieces did you need for the project? Thanks
Think I used 54 pieces for the main wall, 2 white paving slabs for the capstones and I had 6 block pavers lying around for the center
@@EnglandAndy You saved me from having to freeze frame it and count 😁 I really appreciate your expertise and excellent video. I’m in the middle of renovating my backyard in Nor California. Thank you!
What kind of pavers are those called?
Thank's and great job!
I don't know but they were bought in Lowe's straight of the shelf.
Where did you get those pre measured paver stones
Lowes
Were you getting the compaction for the footing of wall
Sorry, I am not understanding exactly what you meant. Did I get compaction ? then yes with the paver base but not with just sand. It was enough for a very small wall.
Why hit with the side of the hammer?
I can only think of two reasons, 1 would be not wanting to smack your hand with a miss, but it's more likely that he's delivering multiple SOFTER blows (to end up with the cleaner-cut)
About how much did this project cost?
I am sorry I don't remember I can only guess around $300
Why the side of the hammer?
Try it . Then you will know
Andy what is the size of the columns?
Colomns are 19x19 and 21 inches high to the patio
Thank you, so much.
How much was this?
Think? all in was around $300 but it was a few years ago and stuffs gone up a lot now.
