US placed its nuclear weapon in Turkey which happens to be very close to USSR (The Caucasus being under USSR), in turn USSR tried to place nuclear missiles in Cuba who were allies of USSR for them being communists. Yes, NATO has been getting involved by trying to warn the world of what Russia was about to do - and thats a commendable action. NATO officials warned of an impending invasion, weeks before it actually happened. NATO shared their intelligence; saying that Russia was preparing an invasion of Ukraine. As we all know, NATO was right. NATO where talking the truth. Meanwhile Russian officials were lying and saying that "as far as Russia is concerned, there will be no invasion of Ukraine" (Lavrov said something like this). Putin also said that any suggestion that Russia was about to invade Ukraine was "absurd" and that Russia "of course wants peace in Europe". The Russian officials have been lying time and again, while NATO and its allies have been communicating very accurate information. Anyone believing that this war is NATO:s fault needs to take a second look at his/her's sources and really think again.
      It seems like those who is still not able to asess this situation properly (those who still do not realise that Russia is the aggressor) are the ones that fall into the trap of discarding the information that the opposite side presents, without even analysing it properly.

      The Roots of Neo-Nazism in Putin's Russia
      The origins of this relationship date back to the late 1990s, when Russia was rocked by a wave of racist violence by neo-Nazi skinhead gangs. After Putin took office in 2000, his regime took advantage of this development in two ways. First, it used the neo-Nazi threat to justify passing anti-extremism legislation, a long-held demand by some Russian liberals. Ultimately, this legislation would serve to prosecute Russian democrats. Second, the Kremlin launched "managed nationalism," an attempt to co-opt and mobilize radical nationalist militants, including neo-Nazis, to counterbalance an emerging anti-Putin coalition of Democrats and the far left. Moving Together, a pro-Putin youth organization notorious for its campaign against postmodern literature, took the first step by reaching out to OB88, the most powerful skinhead gang in Russia. This cooperation expanded after the Orange Revolution in Ukraine in 2004. To shield Russia from contagion of pro-democracy protests, the Kremlin turned Moving Together into a more ambitious project called "Nashi" or "Ours". As part of his preparations for a possible democratic uprising in Russia, Nashi recruited members of football gangs whose subculture overlapped with the neo-Nazi underground. In 2005, Nashi's thugs conducted a series of crackdowns on anti-Putin youth groups. The most violent attack, which left four left-wing activists in hospital, led to the arrest of the attackers. They were released after a visit to the police station by Nikita Ivanov, the Kremlin official who oversaw the regime's loyalist youth organizations. The resulting scandal provoked a reconfiguration of "managed nationalism". While Nashi distanced himself from football gangs, his radical militants defected to two rival Kremlin proxies, the nationalist group Young Russia and the anti-immigration group Locals. These organizations became bridges between the neo-Nazi subculture and the Kremlin.

    By the way, the film never got released in English as Stone did not found anyone willing to take on marketing. Still, enthusiasts have translated it and you can find it on youtube. Oliver Stone is not the best documentalist. I can see a lot of people criticising the movie for getting mostly one side's story, although it is because he was not able to schedule meetings with supporters of the Kiev government as they know Stone's political leanings.
    A really worthwhile documentary if you know French is "Les masques de la révolution"/The Masks of the Revolution and it is not interviewing big politicians, but figures that participated in the whole mess in Ukraine but that are not really known.

The eating habits of each individual are a matter of personal responsibility. For example, I eat with 8/16 interval fasting, sugar-free and largely vegetarian in the sense of Clean Eating / Paleo. I also find Work Life Balance good here in Germany. For example, every employee has about 25 days of paid vacation per year, most have Saturdays and Sundays off, and are only allowed to work 8 hours per workday. You really can't complain about that. Ukraine was never a threat - they gave up all Russian nukes on their land in 1994 and had a democracy for 30 years. But, in Russia, nobody can stand up to Putin. That's better?? And, btw, Russia invaded Ukraine. There was no imminent attack coming. Ukraine virtually had no capable military in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea. Were it not for NATO, Putin would already have recovered all of the former Soviet bloc countries under his dictatorship; that's why he's so frustrated. And with Trump, he came very close to painlessly watching NATO dissolve so he could carry out his agenda of conquest. Trump planned to pull the US out of NATO in his second term, according to Trump's former National Security Adviser, John Bolton. After Trump lost, Putin was seeing his dream of reconstituting the Russian Empire slip through his fingers. So, he's gambled everything on having a swift conquest of Ukraine. But, it has not gone so well, and he may reduce the whole country to rubble to assert dominance over it. At the same time, the EU and NATO have hardened their alliance, and committed to greater unity and arms. Furthermore, the West has heavily sanctioned Russia, and forced it out of a lot of economic integration. Now, Putin has to beg for arms from China. So much for the super power....Putin's conventional army is bogged down, and frankly, a lot of the soldiers probably don't have their heart in this war, realizing they are on the wrong side of history, and morally. Putin should have served his 2 terms and retired, but he just had to remain in power. This is one reason NATO stuck together: they were concerned about Putin's willingness to violate norms, undermine democracy, and to commit atrocities.

    0:56 is how to understand what reality NATO really is. NATO is an organization of group of countries and functions more like an oligarchy where the interest of each country , that can think independently , must be met in order for NATO to take action. The message that I think Putin is trying to tell here is due to America too much influence on NATO despite each NATO members can think independently to decide whether they want US presence or not each member countries are just following a bandwagon effect where the members will just go along with others without thinking independently and thinking the consequences because how much influence the US has on each member countries they perceive the US as the leader that makes America in control of NATO not in paper or any signed documentation but due to this bandwagon effect.

    Back in 2008 I had a co-worker who questioned why Putin would have sent troops into Georgia. I told him it was because NATO was expanding up to his front door. I do not condone what Putin is doing to Ukraine, but I understand why he invaded. Adding countries to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization that don't even have a coast on that ocean never made any sense to me. Trying to hem in a major nuclear power also seemed foolish.

    • @user-wb1nz6fq2i
      @user-wb1nz6fq2i 2 роки тому +3

      What an incredibly underdeveloped thought process. Although I do agree with you that Putin feels threatened by NATO expansion, and rightfully so. You, not being able to make sense of new NATO members- for not having a coast on the North Atlantic is just ridiculous. The North Atlantic treaty Organization is the name of a security pact, merely a name haha. It isn't an exclusive club in which members have to have a coast on the North Atlantic as a prerequisite, the treaty of Dunkirk doesn't mean it only applies to the city of Dunkirk does it?. You being focused on the North Atlantic part of the acronym misses the whole point.
      For example, Italy and Luxembourg are founding members of NATO, do you know where they are situated?. And if you still stand by your strange "gotcha" logic as a way to delegitimize new members joining NATO without a coast on the North Atlantic Ocean- Ukraine is situated on the Black Sea, The Black Sea is a marginal Mediterranean sea of the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic has irregular coasts indented by numerous bays, gulfs and seas. These include the Baltic Sea, Black Sea, Caribbean Sea, Davis Strait, Denmark Strait, part of the Drake Passage, Gulf of Mexico, Labrador Sea, Mediterranean Sea, North Sea, Norwegian Sea, almost all of the Scotia Sea, and other tributary water bodies. So therefore Ukraine applies by playing mental gymnastics to fit your bizarre gripe.

    • @kyucklebeans
      @kyucklebeans 2 роки тому

      @@user-wb1nz6fq2i the larger point is that Putin is taking a sledgehammer to the Ukraine because US/NATO thinks it can do whatever it wants. You can make whatever theoretical argument you’d like, but it won’t stop the Russian military from leveling Kiev if it doesn’t surrender. And it was all caused by the hubris and insanity of the West.
