- On the night of Tuesday, February 14, 2023, MTA NYCT Subway moved a 7-car train of cars detained for scrap from 207 Street Yard to Concourse Yard. This brought an unusual train of both A and B Division cars together, seen first passing through the 181 Street-Ft. Washington (A Line) before reversing and heading up the Concourse Line and through the Tremont Avenue Station (D Line). These cars were extensively damaged in separate incidents and determined to be irreparable and will be transported off the property to be scrapped.

Rip Garrett Goble 😢😢😢
Yep that happened in 2020 the 2nd worst tragedy before the malebone street wreck
😢❤
I feel physical pain every time I see that set of R142 cars
The fact that NYCTA still uses these 45 tonners shows that they were built with quality.

It’s real sad what happened to these cars. The R46 set could be repaired and returned to service, but since the R46’s will soon be replaced by the R211’s, the MTA will most likely still scrap it anyway.
The R142 set is much sadder though, as it was a NEW TECH set. 6347 was damaged beyond repair by the blazing inferno that took the life of train op Garret Goble, so it’s definitely gonna have to be scrapped.
R142 Cars 6346, 6348, 6349, and 6350 however might either find a new life as pump trains or be sent to a museum to be preserved. Cars 6366-6370 which were repaired and returned to service might be wrapped in memory of Goble.
What happened with the R46 cars?
A man placed a piece of metal on the track and the R46 (A) train derailed crashing into the metal pillars at 14 Street
@@owenboa4993It wasn't that one. the 14th street derailment was another set R46(6062 the most affected car) the rest of that set was repaired and returned to operation. Car 6150 6154 was a derailment that occurred in 2017 on the F line
Description says otherwise
Nice catch Marc!

Welp, there goes these cars. Surprised the other damaged R46 wasn’t on this train.
probably still under investigation
Socks They Had To Get Rid Of That Whole Set Of 142s..The First Big Incident With Those Cars..

Rest in peace the cars on the scrap train. Getting scrapped after damaged
I could of sworn I saw set 6350-6346 use on 2 line last year. What R142 replace the R142 that got damaged in 2020 fire at 110 st
None. You either saw 6846-6850, or your memory is actually from pre-2020 and you just keep remembering it wrong.
NOOOOO NOT THE R46 AND THE R142
Not the 7 train!
OMG
דיאנה❤
question is how do u beat the train to the next station?
😢
What happened to the R142 🚇
Did it r46 are spare
graffitti on that train lol nice , thats cope 2 bein ragged
What? There Actually Scrapped
R142s started retirement before the R68s
Just that one set of R142s.
It suffered from a fire set in one of its cars by an unstable homeless man in the earliest days of the Covid-19 pandemic.
That fire caused the death of the conductor of the train that set was a part of.
@@benjaminnieva6016it wasn’t the conductor it was the train operator 😮
@@RicardoLopez-mc5op Oh, am I wrong there?
Was it the Operator instead of the conductor?
If so, I stand corrected.
How much for a ride in those cars?
Its just a little guy
US is a rich country, in other places these train would have been running for another 20 years :-)
yeah fr
Nigga how one train is burt badly and the other got derailed badly
Bruh these are damaged trains 🤦
🫣
😢 poor
blud i saw a graffiti
R143 are getting replaced by r211t
I don't think so. Since they are NTT and hadn't suffered any issues.
And they are only replacing the R44 and R46.
@@bl00migh0st um some of the r143s and r160s are getting replaced by r211s
Why would MTA replace their modern fleets? That is just a waste. R211 ARE only replacing the R44 & R46 since those cars are aging.
Plus R160, R143, R179 & R211 are just sharing some lines together.
Destroyed MTA trains in Ohio be like:
That's not fucking funny at all.
Why are they scrapping new cars I know 2 were burnt. This is what happens when they’re married should be single cars
Tis just that one set that's being scrapped.
I believe it will also be picked for good spart parts before getting scrapped though.
Unitized sets of 4 or 5 cars are here to stay. They are reliable enough so that having to take a whole set out of service for a defect on one car isn't a major issue. There is significant cost savings in not having as many cabs as there would be with single cars or even married pairs and fewer cabs means more seating for passengers as well.
