Nest the bins of similar sizes and tuck the stack in one spot, until you know how many you will need for the next move. That way they will take up very little space. Then the man cave can happen too. Great job! You will get this done before you move again. 👏👏👏👏👏
Eric, could I ask in your next video to see the empty bin pile? I’m a visual person and I just want to see all those bins empty and stacked! You’ve done such an incredible job!! Your amazing!!
So happy to find your channel. I’ve been a “simple living” person for at least 15 years. I found books on the Simplicity Movement from the 90’s/early 200’s I guess?, at my library long, long ago. It was a rough time for our family and a huge shift happened around 2008. This was before UA-cam and everything today. I love seeing people on the journey today, and this new movement now called “minimalism”. You and your family are so great! I appreciate how real you are and hope others come across your channel! You are a real family, living real life. So many channels don’t show the “nitty gritty” of it all! Best wishes to you and your channel. I think you’re going to inspire a lot of people! Even for this seasoned minimalist, you inspire me to go find stuff to get rid of!
I got rid of mine after carrying it around for over 20 years. I have pictures and memories without the jacket that just hung in a closet. I thought for a while maybe I’d use for a Halloween costume because it still fit but I’m not really a Halloween party person. So somebody else was likely Hilary for Halloween because I think that’s what Goodwill does with stuff like that - puts in costume section.
We save a stack of empty bins and use them throughout the year! When we defrost our garage freezer, and when wrapping gifts to be taken to different Christmases, empty bins are handy to keep at least a few around!
The problem with empty bins is they attract junk. If you have to say "I don't know where to put this" you have to deal with it immediately. Bins let you delay that decision. Same for boxes, baskets and bags.
Thank you for being such an inspiration. I am so proud of you for letting go of that green jacket. I was having a hard time doing this and needed inspiration and you popped up on my feed. My aim today was to reduce my clothes by 50% and I've only reduced it by 1%. Tomorrow i will revisit everything and try again and will do like you did. I will honor the memory or the giver and will release the item for it to have a new 🏡. Thank you both!
Hi from UK Clearly that lidded glass jar is not meant to be in your hands. It wanted to be donated! Good call! You two are making such good progress. Blessings to you all xx
I can't wait 💙 you all have helped me get a handle on Sentimental items💜 I have had fun displaying and honoring my items and using those that can be used😀
You might need that green box to hold your photos? Also your cute green coat- do you have a picture of you in it? If so then you have that memory right 😄
Yes, I was thinking the green box could hold all the sentimental letters and cards from Andy. And that would be a boundary. Can only keep what fills the box. Erica could also take pictures of the letters and store them in a file on her computer. ♥
Great video, sentimental is tough, but you have really grown your declutter muscles! Good work! As I'm decluttering I flip my empty bins upside down so I dont have to wonder what of anything is in there.
I kept TWO sets of silverware in nice velvet lined boxes, thinking I would sell them. I took them down to the silver and gold exchange and it turns out they are silver plated! Lol so off to goodwill they went! Love that you’re getting to the sentimental! Can’t wait to see what you do with photos and family history stuff!!
Andy is not helping by saying “it’s sentimental.” That is how you ended up keeping so much. I went through my husband’s cards and letters and kept a few of the best. Only what fit in a very small box. Like the Minimal Mom advices to set boundaries by what fits. You have built up the decluttering muscle. Good job.
I was thinking the same thing - Andy, not helping! LOL He is just as sentimental as Erica! Maybe more. Can't believe he is keeping his high school jacket. Really??? ;)
I agree that Andy could evalute what needs to be a sentimental and not. But everyones process is different and Erica has been at the decluttering longer and has more strategies for it. I think it’s nice to see both of you doing this together.
@@EricaLucasLoves its true! you, hoarders heart, and my great challenge are people i started watching for declutter videos and stayed because it felt like family
Good job going through sentimental. I had boxes and boxes. Over the years (except for pictures) I now have 1/2 a photo box full and getting ready to declutter again. All the decor I never put up went a while ago. My husband, on the other hand, has a China cabinet full of stuff displayed in our finished basement. I don’t think he’s looked at it since we first put it up 5 years ago but he doesn’t want to get rid of anything. He has very limited vision and can’t read books but doesn’t want to get rid of the 2 1/2 bookshelves full of his books. Luckily I have downsized to the point we can keep what he wants to keep and it is still not cluttered looking. Your videos are so inspirational. Can’t wait to see how you manage photos. I’m down to 2 1/2 photo boxes from 6 boxes plus 6 huge scrapbooked albums. I enjoyed scrapbooking for 6 years then lost interest. The albums took up enormous space and that is where the best pictures were so that is why I dismantled them. It was an excellent decision for me. I do have a SKYLIGHT electronic photo frame that you email pictures to and that keeps the newest pictures of hubby, me, the grandkids, and extended family available. The only time I look at pictures on my phone is when I’m trying to decide which to declutter. Ha.
You did such a great job! If you're ever going to wash handmade crocheted or knit items again: the best thing is to let them dry flat. When items are wet the stitches can stretch out of proportion warping the item.
Andy , I love pearl jam too! I love seeing other fans. Erica, that must have been very hard to donate that precious jacket, but you didn't donate the precious memory! ❤️

As organized our house is, there is a huge task to be done: photos! It looks like some of those things you can give to your kids for when they first move out of the house. Silverware, plates, etc. Not sure if you'd want to carry it around but making them bins for when they get older and start their first home/apartment might be nice...thanks for another great video!
I feel like with all of their moves, it makes more sense to donate anything that can be easily acquired at a second-hand store. I just had my last one move out and the back of my van is FULL of stuff they asked me to save for them and then decided against.

Phoenix Rising Try putting the drop in the washer first with the water running into the washing machine so it has a chance to dissolve in the water. I use True Earth... same principle but it’s like a small sheet of paper. I love it.

Some oxyclean would brighten up that doily. And I'm surprised that raggedy Anne's red didn't bleed into the other colors! Is that soap good for keeping colors from running?
You were saying in your Target trip that the laundry basket you got for under the primary bed didn't fit. Maybe try the empty bins you have. Shop in your home.

That way they nest together and the stack is visually small. PS maybe you could use the silver in your RV and return the cheap stuff you bought.
I agree. You use your mom's good dishes as your everyday dishes( as do I). Use the silver the same way and take the silverware you have now and use in the RV.
@@lifewithlarsandsusie8315 so long as the silverware doesn't go into the dishwasher, they should keep their pattern. Maybe those should go into the RV as most RVs don't have a dishwasher.
Silver will not tarnish if: 1 used all the time 2 kept in the felt lined box which keeps the air out therefore, prevents tarnishing 3 rinsed after meals to get the salt off which will tarnish it Silver does require some care. My mother would roll over in her grave but, I do occasionally put my silver in the dishwasher after big family dinners. It just saves cleanup time.
Hi Erica and Andy, I'm so happy for you both, the next move is going to be so much less stressful, just knowing that you don't have all the stuff to move and organize, as a military wife I was so minimalistic because I knew I had to move it, now we are civi's hubby is a pack rat,and I dread having to move, and I know it's going to happen!🙄 help me.💖
Your meetup story touched my heart. My husband and I met on a message board and emailed and phoned (no Skype then) for about 10 months before we met in person. Me in Chicago and him here in Florida.
Love your channel Erica. You have inspired me no end. But, I do wonder whether dissolved plastic is any better in our waterways than solid plastic. Is that what the pods are made from, or do I have that wrong?
pssst: jack (?) looked like he might like a Raggedy Andy doll and how fitting ... "Andy." Little Guys have such a short window for comfy huggy pals. Of course, he might be Perfectly Fine without one. I am just enjoying the name synchronicity. : )
Sentimental stuff is hard! I don’t keep any cards or letters (even those from my husband). Our children have no interest in them and we really don’t need to keep them to remember our relationship. I know our situations are different because we don’t often move, but I have no empty bins or boxes in our home. They just take up space. I probably missed something, but why do you keep every day dishes in a box? Can’t you use them?
@@EricaLucasLoves I'm jealous! It seems the last few times they came to Philly I was just about due with one of my babies so I felt like I shouldn't give birth while seeing them live! 🤷🏼♀️😂 Hopefully they will come around again!

@@lifewithlarsandsusie8315 so long as the silverware doesn't go into the dishwasher, they should keep their pattern. Maybe those should go into the RV as most RVs don't have a dishwasher.
Silver will not tarnish if:
1 used all the time
2 kept in the felt lined box which keeps the air out therefore, prevents tarnishing
3 rinsed after meals to get the salt off which will tarnish it
Silver does require some care. My mother would roll over in her grave but, I do occasionally put my silver in the dishwasher after big family dinners. It just saves cleanup time.
Hi Erica and Andy, I'm so happy for you both, the next move is going to be so much less stressful, just knowing that you don't have all the stuff to move and organize, as a military wife I was so minimalistic because I knew I had to move it, now we are civi's hubby is a pack rat,and I dread having to move, and I know it's going to happen!🙄 help me.💖
I’m missed the premiere…..nooo! Still can’t wait to watch it! 🥰❤️
Hi!!
How are you doing 😊😊😊
Well done! You two are a great team!
I would sell empty bins dont need so many now - good job getting more done. YAH😁🇨🇦
I would keep the empty bins so when you move again you have some to pack your goods. Just stack them all together somewhere out of the way.
Our empty bins get used to protect the garden, but come in handy during moving.
pssst: jack (?) looked like he might like a Raggedy Andy doll and how fitting ... "Andy." Little Guys have such a short window for comfy huggy pals. Of course, he might be Perfectly Fine without one. I am just enjoying the name synchronicity. : )
Have that green jacket made into a keepsake teddybear!!!
My husband does the smelling for me. I also have a clock just like that. It belonged to my step grandfather and I want to return it to his family.
The crystal little pot with lid would be to give to your daughter for tiny jewellery maybe X as it is really cute
You could use the silverwear in your rv
WOAH PEARL JAM.
I'm one of those crazies groupies people. 😂 26 concerts since I was 12.
Andy is my new favorite UA-camr 😅
Yes!! He’s seen them 3 times.
@@EricaLucasLoves I'm jealous! It seems the last few times they came to Philly I was just about due with one of my babies so I felt like I shouldn't give birth while seeing them live! 🤷🏼♀️😂 Hopefully they will come around again!
