Thank you! I just had the first drive on my own loco in around nine months, it was so rewarding knowing That it was all done by a couple of friends and myself.
I am keen to understand how you connect the hand operated brake lever to the vacuum brake system as I might need to upgrade my older driver's carriage which only has vacuum brakes from the steam ejector. Thanks for your entertaining videos.
Hey Mike, thanks for watching! The hand operated lever is for the hand brake (parking brake), which is now operational. The vacuum brakes are a regulatory requirement here in Australia for when you’re pulling more than two passenger cars behind you, which I hope to be doing at clubs in the not too distant future. The two braking systems will not be connected to each-other at any point, and we will be installing an electrical switch in my control panel to activate the vacuum brakes, and those brakes will only activate the brakes on the passenger cars, as my driver’s car doesn’t have vacuum brakes. The steam loco that I have driven at one of the clubs had vacuum brakes that operated in the same way as you mentioned.
Absolutely! Once I do some research over the next couple of weeks, and get a good idea of the right pump to install, I’ll be covering the installation on the channel.
Brilliant brother!

Coool!! Coming together very well!
I was so happy driving it around Orange last weekend. Can’t wait to finish it, and get the last coats of paint on the wood.
@@TheMillRailwayCo I'm looking forward to the video of you driving it round Orange last week :)
Sorry about the delay.. that video is up now.

Thank you! It needs another coat of paint on the wooden parts, but other than that I’m very happy with how it’s looking.
Please tell us about the electric vacuum pump you plan to install?
Absolutely!
