    Thanks Mynda as always.
I use ctrl+shift for quick cell formatting:
    ctrl+shift+1 = format as number
    ctrl+shift +$ = format as currency
    ctrl+shift +% = format as percentage
I also use ctrl + # to format as date (dd-mmm-yy). Having the month as a word instead of number helps ensure the format is correct (us mm/dd/yy vs uk dd/mm/yy)

Great Video . . . The Shortcuts I use apart from the ones you mentioned are :
    To remove a filter from a column = Menu, E, E
To remove all filters from Worksheet = Alt, A, C
    To rename sheet = Alt, H, O, R
To change Sheet Tab Color = Alt, H, O, T
    Cell Styles = Alt, H, J

Videos like this are much more useful than a simple list of shortcuts and their effect.
I have often thought it would be good to know or have a list of all the shortcuts available in excel, Word, zoom, windows and etc. But the only value of a shortcut is that it is shorter than its explanation and can be used without having to look it up each time, so I usually pick only those I know will be immediately useful, and make a point of trying them out.
This video was great as I made note of more than half of them.

Great video! Pressing Menu than V for pasting values or Menu F Enter for pasting formulas, saves some clicks, found that Menu key is quite powerful in different other contexts in many other programs. Deserves testing it all the time.

It's just a shame the menu button is on the right-hand side of the keyboard, which means I have to leave the mouse to click it. If it were on the left I'd use it more. I agree though, it deserves testing all the time :-)

Here’s one that I use frequently: Alt + digit (0-9) to launch a quick access toolbar item. For instance, I have Switch Windows in the leftmost position, so Alt+1 displays a list of open windows. Quick, convenient (and the same as the Windows menu before the ribbon was introduced).

with drawing object selected, hold the SHIFT key and it will resize in both directions. if already existing, grab one of the corners and hold shift while you resize. if you insert an oval but hold shift while drawing it will make a circle. hold CTRL while dragging and it will resize from the center.
the mouse equivalent of Ctrl+Shift+↓ is to hold Shift and double click on the bottom border of the cell.
snap to grid was one I didn't know. Thanks!

I hit the like button by the end of the first shortcut, paste values is my best friend in work. I reckon I probably only knew about 25% of the rest but will be having fun showing off when I get in tomorrow. On a related note, my almost 70 year-old mother recently brought F4 to my attention! She's been using spreadsheets as long as I have (back as far as Ability Office on a 640K 8086 Amstrad PC1512 running MS-DOS 3.2) and she's still capable of teaching me new tricks (also, I blame her for my Excel geekery).

Thank you for the cool shortcuts!
Here are the ones I didn't know before watching this video:
    Ctrl/Shift + Space to select column/row
    Alt + E + S for Paste special
    Ctrl + +/- to insert/delete column/row
Ctrl + D to duplicate values from the row above
Alt + down to open a drop down list
Shift and move to insert data
Ctrl+Shift and move to add data (by replacing in the destination, as it happened in my case)
Ctrl + ` to toggle between viewing data and formula (without formatting)
Ctrl + ; to write current date
Ctrl + : to write current time
Ctrl + T/L to format as table
Alt + = to insert autosum
F3 to insert values based on name (didn't know we could define names to tables and formulas)
Also, didn't know that keep pressing F4 will toggle between various options of absolute referencing.
So, it's been good learning. Thank you, again!

Great GREAT stuff! I knew probably 15 of these, but saw some great new ones. I hadn't encountered using the menu key in conjunction with other keys as a shortcut before and also #8, Cut/Copy rows or columns using SHIFT or CTRL+SHIFT. I can see using that one a lot!
I have one for you that you may not have seen before; I often have to grab content from a spreadsheet and copy it as a jpg image into a Slide, or other kind of document. Until recently, I've used the snipping tool for that. I learned that you can select a group of cells in Excel and on the Home Ribbon, click the dropdown arrow for Copy, then select "Copy as Picture", then select the options on the popup. You'll end up with a clean jpg image of whatever you had selected which you can then paste into something else. Much quicker than snipping and cleaner, no overlap, and the aspect ratios are maintained as you resize the resulting image.

Here's a great one: add common actions to the Quick Access bar, and then each quick action can be accessed with Alt + [n]. For example, if you've saved Sort > Descending as your third quick action, pressing Alt + 3 will perform that step. This allows you to take the more convoluted/twisted shortcuts and reduce them to a very simple endeavor. Remember, unlike Ctrl and Shift, you do not need to hold Alt down, just tap it once; no more painful stretching!

Great stuff! I feel good about having a little more than half of these under my belt. Was laughing when I saw you hit the "+" in the bonus, and said "yeah, that's old school." Also, I still use Transition Navigation option, so if you have that selected, you can select contiguous rows, columns, or ranges using Shift+(Arrow key). The other beauty of this, is when cleaning up missing values, End+(Arrow Key) will automatically stop at the next missing value. Too valuable for me to get away from that (very old) option. Thanks very much - you taught an old dog some new tricks!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I want to know the shortcut key to remove or unlink the pivot table but the pivot table format or structure (Table, color, font, design) should be as it is.

You can't unlink a PivotTable, you'd have to copy and paste it as values and keep formatting.

CTRL-A-V blew my mind. (same as ALT-E-S, but the CTRL option makes more sense to me.)

1 concern though I could not make ctrl+backtick work with my French keyboard (which makes me sad). Any idea ?

Great to know you found some tips you can use :-) I suspect the regional settings are limiting the shortcuts for CTRL+backtick.

I love 'Alt + Enter' to repeat the last command you did.

Hey John, ALT+ENTER in edit mode inserts a carriage return/line break. F4 repeats the last command.

Well, Alt + Down was nice. The one that I would recommend is "Ctrl + ." It helps you switch between the corners of a highlighted area. Very useful when pasting data - to get to the last pasted row/column.

thanks for your great video. Can you share more about shortcut for unhide column. This docs mention Ctrl 0 for hide column, regarding to unhide column, this is not mentioned ...

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  6 місяців тому

You can use Alt > O > C > U to unhide columns. It's not quite as elegant though.
