hi, all look great!!, looking forward to your vision , I also planted Dahlias & Zinnias in my garden, looking forward to them too, happy gardening, Ann from Ohio
Hi, I purchased my Dahlias at Costco from Longfield Gardens, I got Blue Boy & Crazy Love, & in another bag My Love & Alauna Clair-Obscur these colors are mostly purlpes & white, which i like, my Zinna are Purple Price & Purple Zinderella , they all look great , i planted the Dahlias in the ground and some are starting to sprout!! This spring weather has been great for gardening, I got a head start with planting , Happy Gardening, Ann from Ohio
Amazing lineup along that brick wall😍 Those brown grow bags are so nice and I love how great those support cages fit perfectly in them. It’s gonna look fantastic and colourful I can’t wait to see all the gorgeous blooms! 👏🏻
I grow nothing but Zinnias love them. Super easy to grow and they are stunning when it bloomed. They're fully bloomed in my backyard as I'm speaking. I sowed them in March seeds I saved from pervious year here in Phx, Az. Some people pre planted them no need to do that. Zinnia grow anywhere as long as it's warm outside it will grow. They heat tolerant flowers even 120 F no problem.
I’m very excited to see how this looks! Both my Thomas Edisons didn’t sprout. I was so disappointed! I was desperate to try & salvage them as it’s my first year gardening & I was looking forward to them the most. I watered them every few days & they finally sprouted! 3-4 wks behind my other decorative dahlias.
I love grow bags! I have 5 20 gallon grow bags that are “natural colored” .. I never considered what the soil would do to the bags 😂 they are perfectly usable.. and have now found a spot in my yard where potatoes can grow in them, but I dont have to look at the dirty bags. I have a few that are a lime green.. that sun faded. Id love to add colorful bags, but Im not loving how they hold up appearance wise! Can’t wait to see you dahlias and zinnias!!
I’m excited for you Bethany! I think it’s going to look amazing. My Otto’s Thrill has buds on them, I think we may have an early bloomer!! Yes, the pest are making their appearance, we battle Japanese Beetles and I can’t stand those guys!! They are the worse! I pray they are not as aggressive as last year.
This is going to be just magical!! What's your watering routine like with the dahlias in grow bags? Water when top 2 inches of soil is dry? I'm trying it but scared to kill em 😂
It's going to be so beautiful. 😍 I can't wait to see how the zinnias and dahlias look together. Do you ever move your dahlias out of the sun when they are wilting (from the heat/sun)? The two I have are growing but do not like that hot sun for long and start to wilt. Not sure if I should leave them in the sun or continue to move them daily LOL
Not on this deck bc it’s the morning sun so not as hot, but I do that on the front deck with the hot afternoon sun! I usually just have to do it when they’re smaller and they eventually get used to the heat but it could be different depending on where you are!
Do you water your dahlias before they sprout? I can’t wait to see the blooms of dahlias and zinnias in your garden. I ‘m waiting patiently for mine too. Anyways, thanks again for your video. Really enjoyed it!
How did your overwintered dahlias do? I killed all mine again (it must have gotten too cold in the garage). The basement is too warm...my sister-in-law's basement is too far for me to check on them...and the garage is too cold!! So annoying. This year I have more than any sane person could possibly want...hopefully I can save some of them...I have an extra little bar fridge, so I may try that...

That’s so exciting! Which varieties did you plant?

Me too!!!

It’s like the bags and cages were made for each other!
Expect beautiful garden borders.
I’m so excited!!!
Adding those pieces below the grow bags is a really good idea 👊🏻🌻👊🏻
It’s such an important part to protect the deck!
😃🎉 Excellent
I subscribed to your channel 🙏
Thank you so much!
@@ChicagoGardener You're very Welcome 😁 Many blessings to you and your Family 🙏
Your Zinnia seedlings/plants grew very healthy. They look GREAT!
I’m so excited with how they look so far! Now I just have to keep the pests away 😆
I think your border is going to be beautiful. All the best & thanks for sharing.
Thank you!! I can’t wait for it to flower.
Greetings from Ireland, Great job, Containers are great for growing flowers or veg in a small space.
They really are!
I can't wait to see how it all looks in bloom! I'm sure it will be amazing!
This is the part of the garden I’m most exciting to see bloom!

If I could only grow one flower, it would be zinnias for me too!
Everything looks great 👍 👌
Thank you!! I’m so excited to watch this border grow.
Nice job. Looks great.
Thank you so much!

That’s exactly what I did with the beige bags I have 😆 they still work but they’re used now tucked behind prettier things
Thank you for your informative video! Never enough potting soil! Ever! 🤣
Right 😂😂😂
I think 🤔 I always have soil or compost in the trunk of my car! 🌺💐🌸
I can’t wait to see how this looks! ❤Both my dahlia tubers sprouted but they are dark green and red compared to yours.
Oooh! Which varieties are they?
@@ChicagoGardener Arthur Hambley. I guess I’ll see what happens 😂

I’ve luckily only had a few Japanese beetles in the past and they really are the worst!

That’s exactly what I do! Eventually they’ll be set up on drip the usually runs every other day in the summer but every day when it’s really hot.
@ChicagoGardener thank you so much!! 🌼
How do you manage the pests??? I purchased floret zinnia and dahlia seeds as well. I feel like the minute they went outside all the pests came😢

I’ve done both, watered in once after planting then not again until sprouting and I’ve not watered at all until sprout and both methods worked!
Where did you get your grow bags and trays underneath your plants? Thanks
It should be linked in the video description, but the bags are bootstrap farmer and the trays I found on Amazon!
Going to look nice
I can’t wait for them to bloom!
@@ChicagoGardener I love wandering around the gardens and fruit trees each morning to see whats new

I overwintered four and they all came back!! How many are you growing this year??
Do you pinch these dahlia and zinnias to have more flowers or just leave them alone?
I do a mix of both in my garden, but these o think I’m going to not pinch so they stay more vertical.
@@ChicagoGardener I'll follow your way with a dinner plate dahlia and Precious Metals. Thank you!
Are you planning on pinching those dahlias?
I don’t think so since I’m putting so many close together and want them to grow more vertically than bushy
It’s gonna look great!
I don’t why my Zinnia seedlings are bent. 😢 Yours look so robust!
Some of mine that were growing too close to other seedlings are bent but they should straighten out!
How do you contain yourself to one zinnia per bag!!?! I have serious issues with over planting!!😂
It’s my first time only putting one per grow bag and it’s very difficult 🤣
Asi no se tuercen verdad
Right!
you're as cute as a button
