  • The small market town in south west Wales is a lovely place to explore. If you wander around the nooks and crannies of the town you will have some delightful surprises!

Did my teaching practice for french in Cardigan back in the spring of1987. I'd studied at SDUC, Lampeter in the 4 previous years, and then headed up to Aberystwyth for my PGCE. Really enjoyed all 5yrs of my years in Ceredigion, and my term in Cardigan was fantastic. Beautiful little town, and very nice people. And delighted to see my old 'practice' school appearing in this sequence, along with one of the weekend watering holes (Black Lion/ Llew Du💖) . Thanks for the post. Brought back a lot of great memories...

Great video.I was born in Cardigan (Maes-yr-haf) and lived there for short time before moving to Cornwall when I was six (Dad in the RAF).Returned to Cardigan on holidays a couple of times when I was growing up but after leaving home and emigrating to Australia, didn't return again (with my sister) until a 2004 after a forty two year absence shortly after Dad passed away.Mum Dad and younger brother are all now buried in Netpool cemetary and my wife and I have returned to Cardigan on three occasions, the most recent being only last year.My parents lived out their lives in Pen-y-Daith Penparc which my sister and I sold in 2008. The back garden looked over the fields towards Aberporth. Still have a few relatives there and always look forward to going back. Thanks for posting this.

We just spent a week staying in Rhiwlas cottage in the Teifi Marshes and found everyone we encountered in and around Cardigan to be extremely friendly and welcoming . . .

Loved Cardigan during my College and Uni Years and many a trip often looked upon with affection for many years later until I overheard three gentlemen discussing in Welsh me and my then partner as Bloody English here looking to buy our homes and other such pleasantries to which I took offence and have never been back since and happily tell people I do not recommend a visit their. Under my English accent which was gained from my nearest school growing up being in England 12 miles away. I was born in Wales to Welsh parents with Welsh grandparents and have lived in Wales for pretty much 38 of my 50 years and learnt Welsh as a lad and still use it on the right occasion. Sadly if that was what they thought twenty years ago how deep rooted and blinkered is that community now. Never again and I still say avoid.

These comments are those of a minority of welsh people which may come from a combination of fear and ignorance. I am English but people around Cardigan mostly very friendly.

I miss the armour and weapons shop, the only interesting shop in that town.
