Documentaries about ordinary people with extraordinary stories to tell. Many of the films are about everyday people in Portugal, who earn a living in various ways and others who have talents they have put to good use. Other films explore life, tradition and history in Wales and also Finland and Sweden.

Lovely to see the horse at the end of the clip, reminding me of a brief but memorable holiday in the hotel on the estuary

Lovely video, Lena. I am a direct descendant of Robert fitz Martin!
Wow! That's really interesting. Glad you liked the video.
I have many Swedish speaking ancestors from the Kokkola/Karleby area... Some of them moved to Lohtaja(Lochteå) in the 1700s whose descendants became Finnish speaking.
Did my teaching practice for french in Cardigan back in the spring of1987. I'd studied at SDUC, Lampeter in the 4 previous years, and then headed up to Aberystwyth for my PGCE. Really enjoyed all 5yrs of my years in Ceredigion, and my term in Cardigan was fantastic. Beautiful little town, and very nice people. And delighted to see my old 'practice' school appearing in this sequence, along with one of the weekend watering holes (Black Lion/ Llew Du💖) . Thanks for the post. Brought back a lot of great memories...
You are blessed & lucky to have this precious kitty. Whoever put him out, made a huge mistake.

So glad you like it. The goats are thrilled at being of assistance to the children and their learning!
@@JanelaDocumentary the goat 🐐 babies as they call them are a big hit, as are the goat game take home bags. As I am sure Ray has told you I'm all about animals supporting children's education and children learning about and caring for animals.
Excellent production. Rita is a natural star but she needs to let Xico say something, maybe in the next chapter. Life in the Quinta is quite full of excitement.
Thanks! Yes, the next video might be about Xico and what he has to say .... I suspect it's plenty!
Great photos. I live in Australia now but I was born in Cardigan in 1950 and lived there until my family moved to Cornwall in 1956. I've been back seven times since 2004; the last visit being in 2017. I can just remember going to the beaches at Gwbert, Patch, Mwnt and Poppit. Wales has got some terrific beaches that compare with anything that we've got except maybe the water's a bit warmer here. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoyable video! Just became aware of Gamlakarleby recently. My aunt was Finn, and I grew up in a USA town where everyone else was Finn (I'm Norse and Welsh). Tried speaking Finn to my aunt - and she replied in Swede. Her mother, Hildur Viola Sundquist, was a Swede/Finn from Gamlakarleby. Trying to find out something about Gamlakarleby and the family - for my cousins. Their grandmother was orphaned at a very young age - about 1900. She and her brothers were placed with relatives, who then decided they didn't want a 3 year old girl. Her brothers were named Andersson (father was Anders? - possibly Anders Gustav or Gustaf), and she had a different last name - that of other relatives who raised her. She was very good with languages (spoke Swede, Finn, German, Russian, and eventually English with no accent) and at some point was interrogated by the Russians (few spoke that language) as to who, in the town of Gamlakarleby, owned firearms. This bothered her for the rest of her life as she felt she'd betrayed her town. She went to university for one year in Helsingfors (Helsinki?), before immigration to the USA in 1917. Her brothers (Anderssons) were shot and killed by a Finnish policeman for smuggling tea from Russia. The policeman later committed suicide. Very intriguing to me, but I have little idea on how to further the story.
Pleased you liked the video. The persons you mentioned certainly had an eventful life...!
