I hope to get to the Upper Peninsula soon ... enjoyed the mine visit and the history and sampling of pasties here and there ... but, I have to ask ... ketchup?
You betcha, da UP is where to find pasties for sure! Da yoopers know good food, and are super friendly… or “yooper friendly!” We’re so glad you enjoyed our home state. Take care, hope to meet up with you again soon. - Jim
Great video - thank you for it 😊. Our son went to Michigan Tech (In Houghton) for 4 years. We go there every year - and eat several pasties and pounds of fish. The copper mining history is interesting to say the least. What a rough life. Near McClain State Park is the town of Calumet. Was such a big town in the early days there was talk of it being the state capital! Look up Calumet Italian Hall Disaster for some other history - which further demonstrates how tough life was for the miners of that day. Al and Cathy in Michigan (25 ft Flying Cloud).
Thanks for watching! Wow. I did look up the Calumet Italian Hall Disaster. Such a sad loss of life for a stupid reason. Someone lived their days knowing they caused the deaths of 73 people (59 children). No matter where you go in this wonderful country there is interesting and fascinating history to be learned and appreciated...
Kudos to you for embracing the local recommendations and buying the Thimbleberry jam; I’m not sure I could have made myself do that, even though trying regional favorites is one of the fun things about traveling. Thanks for sharing another great video :-)
Thanks for watching! We just finished the last of the Thimbleberry a few days ago. C says it was even better than the fresh wild blueberry jams from Maine.
You can also find pasties in the Nevada City and Grass Valley area of Northern California. There were gold mines there. They probably drew from the same miner population. Enjoyed the video. Thanks! G
Thanks for watching! That's super interesting that pasties find their way wherever there are old mining operations. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if there are any regional differences...
Thanks for watching and the super nice comment. I keep a spreadsheet of places to visit whenever we meet a local or someone comments on a video. It is up to Line 223...
Love your videos, but as a Michigander, every time you said Pastie, I had to cringe a little😂. It is pronounced pass-tee instead of pah-stee. We also have some of the hardest to pronounce location names here too! Keep the awesome videos coming!
Thanks so much for watching! It's funny - we knew how to pronounce it but I guess the New England in us caused a few errors. We loved Michigan and You Betcha we will do better next time...
Nice I live I’m Michigan 😜
Thanks for watching! We love Michigan and can't wait to get back.

Thanks for watching! Yes, that is an acceptable dressing according to the locals - every pasty shop has a bottle on the table.

Thanks guys! We love the UP and the pasties. We have so many places that we want to visit in Michigan...
Looking forward to the Mackinac Island show! Think fudge!
Thanks for watching! Yes, there definitely were many fudge shops along the main thoroughfare.
We love your videos! I think the tight spots give you more close-in reference points for maneuvering. Thank you Luv Subbin!
Thanks for watching! We were talking about that. Maybe the tight spots make you pay attention more. Regardless, it was a great state park.
Roy’s looked the best to me! Would love to visit the UP one day! Safe travels
Thanks Cotton Tales! Roy's was definitely the best. The owner indicated he worked on perfecting the filling for years. It showed...
Great video. I enjoyed C being photobombed by “Gram-ma”
Thanks Mike! This was a fun video to shoot and edit...
Can't wait to get there! I'm hoping to do my own research!😂
Thanks Denise! The UP is awesome and you guys will love it.

Lehtos on 2.
Thanks for watching! I had to look that up but we will put it on our list for a future visit!
Great review - stop posting videos- our bucket list is getting toooo BIG 🍻
