I really enjoyed that. Aimee’s voice was beautiful. I was surprised by Aimee’s jazz chops. Always thought that Aimee was a great teacher and that her strength wasn’t in performance. Of course Jens you were great with Aimee. Great video Aimee. Do it again sometime. great video Aimee!
Thank you. :-) This is a major problem with teaching stuff on UA-cam for me. People forget that first and foremost, I’m a player. But it is what it is. :-)
@@AimeeNolte Some people play great but don't teach great. Some people teach great but don't play great. An even lesser number both teach and play great. It's even better than great to find this last group of Musos. (apologies for lots of 'greats.')
Aimme, you have such a lovely voice! I am so glad that you and Jens teamed up. It's through his channel that I heard about you. I really enjoyed this collaboration. Thank you!
This piano playing it’s unreal. you’re not any less talented than the biggest most famous and highly regarded jazz pianists who’ve ever lived. I don’t understand how someone could even be better. You guys should just put this session onto a vinyl record or something these jams are crazy I’m not even kidding.
2:24 was a beautiful moment. I think sometimes, the music leads you where you should go and you both followed and played the exact same thing without predicting it.
I never comment on these videos, but for this I'm compelled. I'm a rusty guitar player getting back to it after all these years. Jens has help me insanely, and even though you play a different instrument, so have you, Aimee. Most of what I get from you has to go into the vault until I get the chops to put it to use, but it still helps so much. Seeing both of you in the same video is like getting the chance to watch two of your old friends meet and like each other the way you knew they would. Now if you two and Tomo Fujita were ever all three in one video then I think the world would explode.
well when is the tconcert tour comming this cant be last time you two play together i need to see this live.We can se how fun you two have playing together
For some reasons (I don't know) I've lost myself somewhere I can't figure, like deep in a dark sea... And your "voice" brings me some peace, which takes me to the surface...
I just came over from Jens' video... awesome that 2 of my favorite jazz youtubers are playing together. I really like that his vid was the 'difficult conversation' and yours was jamming together. Awesome complimentary vids to each other.
Fantastic! It's really helpful to see how you two listen to each other and the choices you make based on what the other is doing. I'd love to see the same thing with a bass player in room. Maybe Adam Neely can join you for a UA-cam trifecta.
Jazz is an improvisation artform I dig this cool jam session going on here. a round of applause is in order after having watched this Aimee Nolte and Jens Larsen.
I've watched many of his video. Just GREAT! For some reason I thought he Jens was in the country of his accent. TASTY! Glad I can see all of that and more on Nebula. Your "Everything about Chords" videos there are excellent. Everything in one place, one time. One cannot justifiably request more.
Man, I think that version of "Someday My Prints Will Come" could've saved Poloroid🤣. On a more serious note, that's an excellent version of "Prince"... At least, I really enjoyed it. Thanks.
Thanks for yet another great video, Aimee. And thank you, Jens. As soon as I saw the words "See the entire cut on Nebula", I stopped watching the UA-cam video and went right to Nebula. Fascinating conversation about musicians staying out of each other's way. And some unbelievably great playing from both of you. For anybody not yet subscribed to Nebula, you're missing a lot of great stuff. 😀
EDITED "Take the "A" Train" has an interesting Origin story. Billy Strayhorn had a publishing deal with Duke Ellington from the time he joined the Ellington organization, this is why his compositions (as well as his work on partially completed Ellington compositions) were credited to Ellington for many years. In 1940 Publishing entities ASCAP and BMI were engaged in a legal dispute, the upshot of which was that the radio stations announced that they would no longer air any music by ASCAP members, Duke Ellington had belonged to ASCAP since 1935, so the vast majority of his compositions for the band could no longer be performed on radio. In order to continue to perform on radio, Ellington would need an almost entirely new repertoire, not written by an ASCAP member such as himself. Duke Ellington called on Billy Strayhorn and Mercer Ellington to fill the void in his band's book. Strayhorn and Mercer Ellington rented a hotel room and got to work composing and also reviewing Strayhorn's archive of unused material. Strayhorn had literally crumpled up "Take the "A" Train" and tossed it in the trash can. Mercer Ellington dug it out and asked "What's wrong with this", Strayhorn replied "That's an old thing I was trying to do something with, but it's too much like Fletcher Henderson". Mercer Ellington agreed, but flattened it out and put it in the keeper pile anyway. Ellington ended up choosing "Take the "A" Train" as his orchestra's new Radio theme replacing "Sepia Panorama", an Ellington composed ASCAP published composition, and the rest is history. A big batch of Strayhorn material (and some Mercer Ellington tunes) were added to the band's repertoire at that time including Strayhorn's "After All", Clementine" "Chelsea Bridge" "Johnny Come Lately" "Rain Check" "A Flower is a Lovesome Thing" and "Passion Flower" I read about this in Lush Life - A Biography of Billy Strayhorn by David Hajdu. Scholars, feel free to correct anything I got wrong about this, and add citations if you have them.
I’m out of town so can’t check the Strayhorn Lush Life biography, but I believe Ellington was shown the arrangement, stuck it under his arm, and the band was playing it, that day, soon after.
It was amazing to do these videos and play together, Aimee! Thank you! 🙏
When the master of Spicy Jazz meets the zesty jazz Queen: what a treat!

Aimme, you have such a lovely voice! I am so glad that you and Jens teamed up. It's through his channel that I heard about you. I really enjoyed this collaboration. Thank you!
Absolutely lovely! This format could be its own very popular channel. More, please!❤
One more comment:
If I ask myself why I want to play jazz, all I need to answer the question is to watch and listen to this performance.
so nice when mom and dad are getting along

I agree we need a Aimee and Jens album
I agree! Record it! A & J “First Takes”
@@AimeeNolte i'd buy a record for sure

The musical chemistry is weapons-grade! You two need to find yourselves a recording booth. 👍👍👍
As a guitar player, I've always watched piano players and it's broadened my playing. More collaborations please.
Some of the sweetest jazz I have heard in a long time xx
Wow. My two favorites on one video, I just love to hear You together.
Make an album!!! I will buy for all my friends.
The cover image 🤣. The whole exchange was so calm and cozy. Loved it.
Some of the most enjoyable 2-piece jazz music I have ever heard. Almost brought tears at times when you guys would really sync your improv on the fly.

Hey, nice. I feel like I just went to a mellow gig.
Are you fucking kidding me ? My two favourite UA-cam jazzers in one place ? This is amazing …
Just finished Gerry Mulligan post on nebula. Another great I need to study. Thank you Aimee.

Absolutely great discussion with Jens about comping!! Thanks. You and Jens are inspirations. Thank you both.

I follow both of your channels and enjoy them both a great deal. It is cool to watch you both put to practice what you teach, together.
As a guitarist, when I'm playing with a piano I honestly just turn it around and start drumming.
You are showing off, and I love it. A big TY to you both.
The collab we all wanted and needed!
What a treat! The two of you creating such a delightful moment together - such an unexpected surprise, thanks so much!
Sounds to me like there’s some low pass action happening as a result of the video compression… just a guess.
Soo nice!! "Take The A Train" signed my introduction to Jazz language actually...i haven't listened to it for many years...great rendition 👏
You better sing Aimee! 😁
so goddamn awesome
Such incredible playing, Jens and Aimee! Really cool how you play off each other's ideas. And your singing is also sublime, Aimee:)
Love you both and followed you for ages. Loved the double time on the Corcovado solo & Amie amazing as always❤❤
Coming from Jens’ channel to say, very awesome! Cheers.

U both sound great as a duo. Interesting to hear how the piano part and guitar work together in these great jazz songs. Nice soulful jazz voice too.

He just came out to go to the NAMM show and since that’s about 30 minutes from my house, we made the video happen
