It was so fun watching this after all the savagery of DCM and the beauty of Marry You. Friday is time to get into Taemin - which solo should I watch first?
Criminal or move Move was a huuuugeeee hit in SK and criminal was included in many best songs of the year lists without any promotions, shawols did all the promotions for criminal as sm really did nothing!! And also I appreciate if you can react to the videos like shinee being chaotic or how shinee loves taemin ❤
SHINee was the first monster rookie. They actually won the Rookie award in ALL the award shows, a record that they held until 2015. Replay was the highest-ranking debut song too. Iconic, there isn't a k-pop fan out there that doesn't know this song. Actually I was watching an older kpop reactions channel and I realized SHINee's songs are all considered ICONIC. Each comeback starting a trend. Kings of trendsetting since debut.
Shinee's reply is the only debut song that everyone knows it doesn't matter which fandom u belong to almost every kpop fan know this song most of the Western kpop fan back then came in after listening to shinee
Fun fact: The term idol eat CD at this time was started by shawol who called SHINee as CDNee because their vocals were clear and stable even though they danced intensely so shawol thought SHINee ate the CD before performing 😊😊😊💎💎💎💎💎
Fun fact: In one interview, Taemin didn't have any solo line in Replay because his voice was changing. This motivated him to work harder to be one of the best vocal performers.
This is still considered to this day to be the best debut of any group. It was a massive hit and people still appreciate it. Also Taemin was only 14 when this got out 🥺 they also said that he sadly had no singing lines in this song I think it’s because his voice was still in transition but later when they performed it he actually had parts
@Haaru It really was a surprise debut. I remember SM putting out Replay music video teaser out of nowhere with a press release. A few days later, music video was out and they were already performing in music shows. It was so interesting to see back then.
SHINee's "Replay" isn't just nostalgic, it's legendary. And SHINee are legends. Evey new rookie group in the industry has covered "Replay" at least once in their career and it's one of those songs that is pretty much compulsory for everyone to know and learn. The Noona (the older girl SHINee have a crush on that they are singing to) in the "Replay" MV is the leader of their sister group***, Victoria from F(x). This MV came out more than a year before F(X) debuted so this was Victoria even before debut. (Funny thing is, Victoria is native Chinese and she says she was still learning Korean during this time and she could barely even say SHINee.) Victoria was so perfect in this role because she is a few years older than any of the SHINee members so she fit well as the lead actress in this MV. As the song says, 'Noona neomu yeppeo .... replay, replay, replay ...." In other words they are saying "pretty older woman I really like you and I think you like me too ... every time I see you I need a replay of the moment over and over again in my head." Noona neomu yeppeo is a Korean term that essentially means "Pretty older woman" Yeppeo is a term that means beautiful that is only used by guys to describe a beautiful woman that is older than them. There really isn't a literal translation of the term so that is why the song is called "Replay" in English. But in Korean it is called "Noona neomu yeppeo." That's why if you watch SHINee on a lot of variety shows and TV programs, the older women in the show often ask SHINee to sing this song to them. This song makes all the women swoon. ***** SHINee and F(x) are both SM Entertainment groups, they debuted within a year of each other, they both are 5 member groups (Now 4 member groups ;( ) and they have similar music styles and concepts, etc. F(x) is pretty much the female version of SHINee. (And all the members are very close like siblings.) "Replay" actually came out in 2008 -- more than 12 years ago -- however, SM launched their new UA-cam channel in 2011 and reuploaded all their older videos at that time. So all of their older MVs and content will have a 2011 date but, like "Replay," they actually may be from much earlier. "Replay" is literally considered one of the best debut songs of all time for any Kpop artist because it's so timeless and it never goes out of style or sounds outdated no matter how old it gets. Check out their performance of "Replay" from 2015 at their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul. ua-cam.com/video/pt1d3wJ40mU/v-deo.html This song means so much to SHINee and Shawols. And this is why SHINee are Icons. You just witnessed baby SHINee and were already blown away, just imagine what it will be like as you go through their discography and MVs. They have 13 full-length albums (7 Korean albums and 6 Japanese albums), a multitude of mini albums, numerous OSTS, they each have solo songs and albums and there are hundreds of live performances that will absolutely leave you speechless with their talent. And it only gets more and more impressive as you follow them through their career. They have accomplished a lot in the past 12+ years and they are one of the groups that made Kpop what it is today. SHINee are one of the most iconic and influential groups as trendsetters. This song was way ahead of its time when it first came out. SHINee are known for never being afraid to experiment with their style and sound in a song and for the fact that no two songs of theirs will ever be the same even on the same album. SHINee are always setting trends, never following them. As SM's experimental boy group, nothing you hear from SHINee will ever sound the same, and, yet, somehow it will always sound like SHINee. So this shows just how talented even as teenagers SHINee were. If you want to see where SHINee truly shines you have to watch their live concert performances. Fun fact: SM originally wanted to make SHINee a hip-hop group. Hip-hop was the style of music that was really popular when they debuted. That's why Key and Minho are both rappers and how Taemin started out as a popper in dance. They all can rap and sing because they were training to be a hip-hop group. (Minho has always been the main rapper and Key has always been the lead rapper-- What you hear Minho doing in "Replay" is a smooth rap.) But as Key tells it, they just didn't have the swag to pull of hip-hop, so SM switched up their sound and style to something that fit them better and they came up with the signature classic SHINee R&B vocals they are now known for. I, for one, am so glad they debuted with their signature R&B style instead of hip-hop. I can't imagine the world if we never knew the amazing vocals and sound that is SHINee today. Things would be so different. SM Entertainment is known as the vocal powerhouse of the industry because they put a huge emphasis on finding and creating the best vocalists in Kpop. ALL of SM's artists were chosen to become an SM trainee for their vocal and/or dance skills. You can't be an SM artist without having outstanding singing and dancing ability. So all of SM's rappers were first chosen for their singing and/or dancing and they learned to rap, or at least become good at it, after they joined the company. That is why, once you get more into SM groups, you will discover that even SM's rappers could be main vocalists. Just take a look at any of SM's rappers -- U-Know from TVXQ, Eunhyuk, Shindong and Heechul from Super Junior, Hyeyeon from Girls Generation, Minho and Key from SHINee, Amber from F(x), Chanyeol and Sehun from EXO, Irene from Red Velvet, Taeyong and Mark from NCT, YangYang and Lucas from WayV, Giselle from aespa, etc. -- they are all amazing vocalists as well. This year will be SHINee's 13th anniversary. So SHINee are part of the second generation of Kpop and yet the members are younger than most everyone in their generation and are the same age or even younger than the members of some other groups, such as EXO and BTS, etc., which are part of Kpop's third generation. SHINee debuted young and have the experience of seasoned veterans. It just goes to show you why they are legends in the industry. When SHINee debuted Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14, so now they are all in their late 20s and early 30s. (Onew just turned 31 in December.) SHINee are some of the most well respected artists in the industry. Onew (Real name Lee JinKi) is the one in the hat, Jonghyun is the one with the bandanna, Key is the one in green, Minho is the one playing basketball, and Taemin is the one in yellow. As you can see by their "Replay" MV, even at 14, Taemin was already one of the best dancers in the industry. If you like their dancing, you should check out SHINee's "Replay" dance practice. ua-cam.com/video/gv60nR3_69U/v-deo.html. It's not an official dance practice video because dance practice videos didn't become a thing until 2010 when SHINee released the industry's very first dance practice video with their song "Lucifer," but it is a real dance practice video from way back to SHINee's debut days. SHINee were literally the first group to ever release a dance practice video specifically for fans to watch and they are the reason why Kpop groups produce dance practice/choreography videos today.
Currently living in South Korea and everyone I’ve talked to knows this song! It’s that iconic! My boyfriend says everyone was “ replaying” when it came out lol SHINee is still that group known to have the most catchiest songs~ thanks for the reaction!
If you wondering, most of their older songs MVs only have small amount of views because it is re-uploaded by SM Entertainment. Replay was the most Iconic Kpop Debut song of all time. All Different Fandoms Agrees to this. Even on Polls and Online Voting. Replay always on Top of most iconic kpop debut of all time 🔥 💎💎💎💎💎. And also in addition Minho and Taemin does not have any lines to this mainly minho got only his line at the last part when he raps underneath the vocal 😢. And taemins voice not fully developed yet. Thank you for this reaction ❤️
From the start, Minho was deemed as the main rapper and Key as the lead rapper. Onew was the lead vocalist and Jonghyun was the main vocalist. Taemin was the main dancer whereas Key was the lead dancer, and also a vocalist. And fun fact is they were supposed to debut as a rap group, focusing on more raps rather than vocals. They were actually supposed to debut with a song that consisted of 80% rap and 20% vocals. Key said in a reality show that they sucked at singing that's why they were supposed to debut that way, but alas, they slayed with their vocals and dancing in Replay
@@hiddlespearean true! You can listen without having to invest yourself into getting to know each member super well. But sometimes you can't help it. They just draw you in🤣
while yall were talking about there being no rap, minho and key were quietly rapping while the singers did their runs lmao. At the time, most of their songs were mainly singing with minho rapping in the background. Wasn't until they all became more well-rounded that they got more designated parts for themselves
They got the grand slam rookie award when they debut. This is hard to get esp when Shinee wasnt promoted. They were introduced the very day they debuted. Minho and Taemin vocals werent as stable in the beginning so not much parts, but Minho bagged the back vocals. Replay is by far best debut song, sung in my different ways by Shinee. BTS and many 3rd gen groups also fans of Shinee tbh. Actually 2nd gen sunbaes and hoobaes too. Taemin was 14 then.
To this day, many groups cover shinee when they have something to prove vocally. Extra flex points if they cover Jonghyun like Kihyun did Hyeya. Almost a rite of passage, what used to be SuJu sorry sorry, they usually do replay or view or Sherlock. (Kinda like doing EXO or BTS when you want to showcase performance). Groups with the vocals and crazy sync skills like 17, TXT, Ateez and Astro did very well with shinee. But, groups rarely cover Everybody unless they're seasoned like ONF on Kingdom. Spoiler .............. Even then Onew propeller move was left for the pro dancers to do.
@@hiddlespearean everybody and now dont call me is on another level. Everyone tries to avoid everybody cause it is taxing and tiring but SHINee agreed to do and did it at 2x speed. 🤣
They bagged every rookie award , u know like being a freshly debuted group and bagging each and every rookie award from award shows 🤭 They are the princes 🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴
@@bamycalling Wanna One (2017), ITZY (2019), & TXT (2019). Seemingly a bit more achievable nowadays. If Aespa keeps it up, they have only a couple more to get and they will also have it as well.
Hahahaha....don't scare her like that!!!! Only Onew remains cute, eventho he's the eldest member. But.. I donno... This comeback... He's showing sides I've never seen before and I'm scared of what he has in store for us.
Taemin didn’t start out as a singer as his voice was still developing. He worked extremely hard to develop as an amazing singer ( with the help of Jonghyun and Onew) Minho and Key were the main rappers.Jonghyun and Onew were the singers. As you know, now they all do everything! They are all multi players
So Minho and key were considered the “rappers” and Taemin was considered the “dancer” but they all outgrew the roles pretty early on, and girl I have been a shawol since their debut, seen Replay prob a million times and I never connected the 5 points of the star it’s the members 🤣
No Key wasn't considered a rapper. Key was a vocal and he had a song called "in my room" which only contained the vocal line at that time which was Onew , Jonghyun , Key .
@@nourasaad7014 key is the triple threat. The almighty key. Thats how he was introduced in the beginning. So him being a rapper is corect. Him being a part of vocal line is also correct.
When SHINee debuted everyone in the industry was shocked! IU said that when SHINee performed all of the other artists would go and watch SHINee perfrom because they would aways sing live with flawless choreography which is really rare for new groups to sing live totally even to this day. I will suggest live performance of Replay which is their debut stage and its crazy how can they sing live like that ua-cam.com/video/7yNDie0F2S0/v-deo.html and i would like to see u react to their performance of Replay in 2015 after ua-cam.com/video/pt1d3wJ40mU/v-deo.html U can see how different they became and how much they improved its just so cool to see!
A little about this song: it is considered the best debut in kpop, it hits hard if you like r&b, especially in a car ride. Also, in 2008 Shinee won 5 major Rookie awards and term "Rookie grand slam" was invented. Only few groups were able to repeat it since (i believe next one was in 2015, but i dont remember who won)
To tell you how ICONIC this song is, I was at food court in a mall in LA a few years ago, someone randomly started singing this song and like 40 other people started singing it too!😁
Yes, Taemin was 14 here and Onew oldest at 18. Fun fact: Taemin did not sing at his debut. His voice was in the process of changing during adolescence and so his vocal quality was all over the place. He was disappointed at this. Taemin also did not want to debut at this age, feeling like he wasn't yet good enough. As we know, he was, and remains, stellar.
AAAAHHHHH!!!! SHINee's Replay! A KPop classic and one of the best KPop debut songs out there. SHINee debuted on May 25, 2008 and were the Rookies of the Year! They won all the Rookie awards inventing the term, Rookie Grand Slam. No other KPop group did that till 2015 I believe. During that time their ages range from 18 (Onew) to 14 (Taemin). Very impressive for people so young and even without proper promotions for their debut since they were considered as an experimental group by S.M. Even now Replay is one of the most loved songs in South Korea. If any info is incorrect, please let me know! There is a story to Replay actually! Replay is about trying to get the love and attention of a Noona (Older woman). Then came in Love Sick, a b-side song from the Odd album at 2015, which describes that SHINee and the Noona are in a relationship and are still madly in love. Last but not the least, Marry You came in (b-side of Don't Call Me Album on 2021), revealing SHINee proposing to the girl/Noona! It is quite the love story 😄💙 Thanks for reacting to this great song and I cant wait to see more of your SHINee reactions!
Oh I do want to add that Minho was the rapper at this time but sadly didn't get a whole lot of line distribution in the song (including Taemin) which made both a little sad but now after their growth, the line distribution in SHINee's song is pretty fair.
I love how the format of the video is like in the old days xd Goes well with the reaction. Also please react to view, ring ding dong, lucifer and sherlock (clue + note) Love y'all!!
@@shinee5hinee99 I'm not an nctzen but that group is amazing - so much talent! Xiaojun and Doyoung and Taeil (and Yuta and Haechan and Chen) because vocals! And Mark and Taeyongie rapping (and now baby Sungchan). And Ten and Shotaro dancing. And Hendery and Lucas. And the rest of the dreamies and 127 and WayV. THERE ARE SO MANY OF THEM, OMG.
Replay by SHINee and Into The New World by Girls' Generation are those two top debut songs, like even though we are in the 4th generation of Kpop, many idols and Kpop fan are still listening to these bops and amazing songs. Whenever you hear Replay, it's like you're feeling in love again and again. And it's just a happy feeling for me, I think. By the way, the other song I mentioned, although it's not from SHINee is an inspirational song. Anyway. Thank you so much for trying to know SHINee more. They're really cool, talented, and amazing. Their vocals alone is already insane and on top. If you want to dive in more about their solo songs, you might want to start with Taemin's "Want", "Move", and "Criminal". I swear, those songs are one of his best. You might also want to try listening to Jonghyun. He wrote his own songs. He wrote for SHINee and IU, too. Minho have a solo song uploaded in SM Station. It's entitled "Home". Although he hasn't release his own solo album yet, he is busy with his prosperous acting career. Onew and Key are always one of the best vocalists, too. Onew is more on the mellow, ballad, songs. While Key's songs are more experimental and upbeat. Again, thank you for your effort to listen to our precious SHINee 💞 Hope you enjoy more! Keep safe! 💜 BTW, I'm an ARMY, too HEHEHE
This song....right here. 😍I love the 90s vibe. I agree with everyone...this is a debut song? Yes, it's the best. My only regret is not hearing this on American radio when it came out because I would have been a kpop stan back then. I am just playing catch up now. Give me compelling lyrics, amazing vocals, fashion, beauty, and rap over a sick beat . I love being ARMY but I am enjoying learning about others but it is overwhelming because it's so much. It's like telling a friend to go listen to all of Motown. I deep-dived BTS but I'm expanding to others...currently Stray Kids, MamaMoo, Shinee, Jessi, ATeez, Wayv, slowly
As a comparatively younger Shawol, I was stunned to discover that SHINee was supposed to debut as a hip-hop group and all of them were supposed to rap originally ;) They were all surprised when they were told that they were going to debut with Replay.
This song is such a classic and one of the best debut songs there is that a lot of kpop groups have already covered this until now like Astro, TXT, etc!
SHINee did have very set roles when they first debuted, but that was only because Taemin was not developed in his singing. He had auditioned as a dancer and had zero singing experience. Minho had to learn to dance, sing, and rap as well since he was only scouted for his look. (True story.) This is why Taemin hardly has any lines in their earlier albums and when he does have lines he is often backed up by someone else singing in the background. They actually were the first group to get ALL the rookie awards in the music show awards making people coin the term "Grand Slam" (please correct me if I'm using the wrong term). They also were the ones, if I remember right, that forced music shows like music bank and such to make a rule that artists comeback stages can only win 3 awards at most. They would win for so many weeks when they did a comeback the shows had to make this rule. Some of their songs also got banned from college radios because it was so addictive that students wouldn't study and they would end up failing the college entrance exam. Just 👑 king 👑 stuff.
taemin wasn't given lines in their early debut days, but he never gave up and practiced A LOT. you can tell he can reach his jonghyun hyung's voice now. i am actually enjoying your reaction to shinee. i hope you will continue to support them.
The members were between 14-18 Years old at that time, 2008. They all trained for around 3 Years, from trainee to debut.. though not so sure how long they trained together coz SM has the Trainee System - trainees are picked when they are ready, put in groups, train together then debut.
I def feel her. I'm so preoccupied with my 5HINee babies, i really can't make time for anything else. I dab casually outside the SHINee World, respect and appreciate others, but my devotion remains to SHINee. Lol. ♡
@@windsl280 Key and Minho were 16 years old because they debut in May and Key is from September and Minho is from December and they completed 17 in the same year of debut the same goes for Taemin he was 14 in replay, but 15 in the first full album that happened 3 months later the debut because Taemin is from July, and Jonghyun completed his 18th birthday 1 month before the debut
And they haven't been training for long either. They had rather short training periods and were really shocked that they were being debuted. Taemin almost backed out.
Shinee is unusual in that they looked like the kids they were, and sounded (almost) adult, even at their debut. Yes, Minho and Key are both (fairly low) baritones which helps. Even though Jonghyun and Onew are tenors, their tone and control was unusually adult for pop. As for Taemin, once his voice settled a bit, he too didn’t sound like a teenager.
Ohhh dear thank you for reacting to this! Its nostalgic lol, I still remember the feelings I had the first time I heard this song. That's the vibe way back early 2000, this was the lullaby I sing to my baby when I put him to sleep LMAO, and now he's a teenager and he knows the song by heart. Thank you, thank you.
Replay is legit my favorite debut song in the 4 gens of K-pop. No song has reached how classic this is (Hope by HOT is classic too). Never gets old. Also, I think this is the most honed K-pop group to have debuted. They were still 18-14 in this but the vocals, dance, raps, just all of their skills are superb. They created the Rookie Grandslam, they were special. Of course the kings of concepts. The Second Gen Role Models of the Third Gen role models
I remember when shinee debuted koreans really love them because of this song lol and kpop's golden era is 2008. There are so many good kpop songs released that time and then baby shinee debuted they are already topping the charts too.. Replay best debut song! Nostalgic🥺 because of them and tvxq (they released mirotic that time which became really big in asia) i became kpop fan.
Appreciated the 'behind the scenes' clip at the end ^.^. And I totally get it. Honestly, I like BTS, but I also feel like SHINee is all I can handle in depth on a reg basis. Wish I could handle more, but we each have our own max mental space and energy levels, no?
I’m glad you liked it. I think having a different group to jump into keeps me balances with all groups otherwise it gets intense. That’s just me anyway I’m intense lol
Indeed, Taemin was 14 turning 15 when they debuted in 2008. Onew, the oldest, was 18 turning 19 😊 Love your reaction every time Taemin appears. He definitely was (and still is) so CUTE!
Jonghyun and Onew were labeled the vocalists. Key was the versatile rapper/ vocalist. Minho was the rapper while Taemin was the dancer. If you watch their live stage of this song, you would realize that Minho and Taemin barely had any singing parts... Taemin himself said that his voice wasn’t even included in the studio version of this song. He was considered purely a dancer and barely had any lines in the first few years. He has come a long way as a vocalist!
Aww. In case you did not know, a "noona" is a girl or woman who is slightly older and the Korean title of Replay means "Noona, You are so Pretty." So, there is super cute, baby SHINee debuting with a song about how they're in love with a slightly older women. What a way to capture the hearts of Kpop fans!
It's a credit to their talent and their personalities to how long lasting and respected they are. This debut is still considered the best out there and they became known as the nation's younger brothers. It's made all the more incredible considering they had basically ZERO promotion before debut. In fact they promoted them THEMSELVES! They made little tags to put on lollipops that said to please love SHINee and they would carry bags stuffed full of them to hand out personally almost everywhere they went. Another thing that stood out to the public was how polite and well mannered they were, and still are. Taemin also handed out mints, so his fans early on got the name Taemints. Because of this effort, their debut stage audience was full of fans from basically just their hard work spreading the name SHINee...
Thank you for reacting to them! I love it so much,, please listen to more of their stuff plus live performances and their solos! All of them have solos
Thank you for loving our 5 shining boys too 🤗...I'm sure they won't disappoint you. Wish you could react to many of their live performances as well...it's definitely a bang! 😊😘
This reply song very popular because all shinee member sing with different lyrics song at the debut year shinee is really populer not just dance but their voice amazing ❤️
Girl you have alot of comments way to go keep it up this has been fun. For taemin Friday react to criminal and idea mv they are his newest release. But you have got to get to his move mv it is so great. Fun fact when shinee got together they began raising baby taemin. They cooked for him, ironed his school close and walked him to school. Still today taemin is the baby and gets away with everything because the other boys say he is to precious to get mad at or scold. Now they do have to scold him because he is into everything but they do it in a loving way. Taemin knows he can do anything like break into keys house for keys birthday. Key was in the military not home. So taemin on camera stole his cloths and thanked key for them. They are true brothers and love each other like family. Can't wait for more shinee and for you to get to know baby taemin for sure. Thank you
Minho was the main rapper with key being a rapper and a vocalist. Onew and Jonghyun were lead vocals and taemin was the main dancer, back up vocals. That’s how they started.
You asked if they had any rappers at the beginning. Actually SHINee was originally supposed to be a rap group, because the "power that be" felt at the time that thee wasn't enough singing quality in the group. How things changed!!! As you know, Minho and Key are the main rappers, but they also have very fine voices. They did not have the opportunity to train their singing voices, as Onew and Jonghyun did. As you know, Taemin did not even have any real lines in this video. He worked extremely hard individually and on his own to train his voice. (BTW, to really appreciate Jonghyun at his ultimate and heartbreaking genius, watch a performance of "Hyeya". Thank you for deciding to discover our SHINee. We love them so much and have for years upon years.
As a multi-fan I can definitely understand the struggle of having a group dominate your time and feeling overwhelmed by the idea of getting into other groups. It's a lot! haha At the end of the day, k-pop is for fun, so as long as you jump in and out as much as you feel comfortable doing, that's all you need ^^ Also fun fact, that I'm sure someone else has already mentioned, SM (the company SHINee is in) uses members from other groups in music videos. So the girl in this music video is a member of another SM group called f(x) that debuted the following year! More recently, a member from SM's newest girl group aespa was in one of Taemin's solo music videos the year before aespa debuted~
to answer your question about specific roles (i.e. singer, rapper) then: well they definitely identified the more prominent singers and rappers. jonghyun usually does higher notes but he and onew both sing really well. jonghyun's voice is thinner, slightly breathy-er while onew's is thicker. as for key and minho they can both sing but have more rap lines. at that point of time really, taemin was known as their dance machine however he didnt really have many lines at all in their first few songs because his vocals just werent developed yet. he was 14, i guess his vocals just werent stable. but from what i've learnt, jonghyun was the one who taught taemin how to sing, thats why in their more recent songs, i sometimes hear a little of jonghyun whenever taemin sings:)
Thanks for another spot-on reaction!🤩 Replay is still considered THE platinum standard for a debut song, and remains a favourite for both SHINee, Shawols and even casual Kpop listeners. There is also a full rap version performed live by Key and Minho. Recently, SHINee performed an impromptu "jazz version" during an episode of I Can See Your Voice. SHINee still flawlessly perform the vocal and choreography of Replay in whatever style they want. Oh and just for the heck of it, do have a look at SHINee performing Sherlock and Everybody at 2x the speed. Yup! Their choreos are insane enough at normal speed, but for the sake of a challenge (and a fan request), they performed at 2x the speed... and let's just say hold on to your head while you're watching 🤭🤭🤭 Just to add a bit more background on our shining boys, during their debut, Minho and Taemin didn't have solo lines in the recorded version as the vocals were mainly handled by the other three. However, this would change during live performances and everyone was shocked (in a good way) at how perfectly their five voices blended together. According to legend (meaning bunch of comments I've read across the years 😅), this full participation was brought on by SHINee members themselves just encouraging each other to sing together. You can actually hear a lot of Jonghyun's singing style in Taemin. By the time of their second album, Lucifer, the band was a solid five-anything group (vocal, dance, rap, songwriting, visual). IMHO, Key actually has the widest vocal range in terms of register as he can go from (I think) baritone to almost whistle register. Also, Minho originally refused to be an idol as he was primarily being scouted for his looks. He wanted to be a pro football player like his dad, but his father didn't want him to go through the gruelling life of a pro. The dance aspect apparently interested him so he eventually agreed to join SM's training pool. On the other hand, Taemin debuted at age 14, which means he would have been training since age 12 (at least), yet he would work as hard as the older boys sometimes to the point that he would suffer nosebleeds, so the other SHINee boys took it upon themselves to take care of him. Apparently, Taemin today still tends to push himself beyond his limits, and his hyungs continue to keep an eye on him. There is a recent behind-the-scenes video where Minho asks Taemin how the recording for Taemin's new album went. Taemin tells Minho it was finished in one take and lasted 30 minutes. Minho basically says the (albeit very calm) equivalent of, "Don't lie to me, YOU.STUPID.LITTLE.SHIT. I know you've been recording for TWO HOURS and your voice sounds hoarse!" (Jeez, these Hyungs are SHARP!)
They are contemporary r&b band.. That would xplain how they can sing like that. Could you please check/react to their mini drama where they dress up as girl. Also dont forget to react to shinee over flower..
You can’t have more babies? Hahaha I am into NCT and I have 23 babies and I also love my old group SHINee. I am also into EXO mainly I grew to love BaekHyun and Kai because of SuperM and since I have friends who love Super Junior I watch them too from time to time. Occasionally, I watch TVXQ too. Hahahahaha. Anyway, thanks for reacting to it. Replay is/was always in reality talent shows because it was immensely popular. It’s like an audition piece. There are of course more complicated dance choreographies like the 5 of them were blind folded and in sync for the song EVIL, then again as I mentioned before the Japanese song that’s R18 to watch TELL ME YOUR NAME. They have unplugged versions, club version etc of their songs. You’re barely scratching the surface and I promise you it’s a journey you will enjoy.
I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but SHINee is credited as the first kpop group to do such complex choreo. If you look at performances of older groups you'll see how much simpler it is compared to Replay. After this everyone else stepped up their game and did harder choreo.
Reaction! Yayyyy! 🥰 Well... this is Shawols anthem 🤩... Noona neomu yeppo was really popular bc the songs from that time were like “beast / savage” and SHINee came with this cute boyfriend image 😋 and their first stage was dancing/singing live (at that time it wasn’t common) that’s how they get attention... ironically they didn’t win music show with it despite being so popular 🧐 but on August in the same year they released their first album with it tittle tracks Love like oxigene and won their first music show 🤩 Thank you for keep their spirits Shawol! 💎 Btw... SHINee is represented with a diamond and Star ... that’s why our Light stick has both 😊
Great reaction guys! I'm so excited to see you fall deeper into SHINee world lol Also, Taemin was only 14 when this song (which is their debut song) came out. Onew was the oldest at 18, Jonghyun was 17, and key and Minho were 16. If your hinking of checking out taemin's solo stuff, you should check out Danger since it was his very first solo song and really introduced everyone to a different side of him. Because before Danger he was known as the cute maknae of SHINee!
In shinee debut I don't know how many rookie newcover awards they got,, they are literally called rookie slamps who takes all the major rookie award...
can’t believe it’s already considered a veteran’s discount to remember a time when MVs didn’t have eng subs 😂😂 all jokes aside I love that y’all are loving shinee!!!
The amount of babies in Kpop... Girl when one is sleeping you go pick the other ones up. I don't even know how some of us stay awake in Kpop. Never a moment of rest. The juggling act is endless. *Taemin's age in Replay/Debut is 14.
It was so fun watching this after all the savagery of DCM and the beauty of Marry You. Friday is time to get into Taemin - which solo should I watch first?
I think I should start with 'Danger' and then see the evolution evolution to 'IDEA'. His dances are amazing.
IDEA!
That’s such a hard question. Hmmm MOVE because there’s none like it in K Pop
Criminal or move
Move was a huuuugeeee hit in SK and criminal was included in many best songs of the year lists without any promotions, shawols did all the promotions for criminal as sm really did nothing!!

Who swiped the rookie awards in 2015?
@@amandamalenfant1629 ikon i think
Shinee's reply is the only debut song that everyone knows it doesn't matter which fandom u belong to almost every kpop fan know this song most of the Western kpop fan back then came in after listening to shinee
Yep it is a classic
Yep this is the one that hooked me in back then and opened up a world of K-Pop!
Was there for d debut n still here for DCM🥰
They were the door to a whole new world lol
Did Minho have lines? it wasn't clear
@@Yetti. yes but a few from 4:05
@Haaru It really was a surprise debut. I remember SM putting out Replay music video teaser out of nowhere with a press release. A few days later, music video was out and they were already performing in music shows. It was so interesting to see back then.
REPLAY IS NATIONAL ANTHEM OF KOREA.
PERIODT.
This is the best debut song of all time for me and you can't change my mind...
Haha
Won the rookie grand slam to prove it 😤
Don’t mind me, i’m just here enjoying the SHINee rabbit hole 😊
Same and I love explaining facts about shinee to babywols
(And all the members are very close like siblings.)
"Replay" actually came out in 2008 -- more than 12 years ago -- however, SM launched their new UA-cam channel in 2011 and reuploaded all their older videos at that time.
Shawols love for SHINee is really amazing.. that was well written as a description..
As a shawol, i highly appreciate my coshawols who put in a lot of effort to provide detailed information for SHINee. Thank you!
Wow! Thank you!
Currently living in South Korea and everyone I’ve talked to knows this song! It’s that iconic! My boyfriend says everyone was “ replaying” when it came out lol SHINee is still that group known to have the most catchiest songs~ thanks for the reaction!
It’s interesting how loved it still is.
I don't tend to look at views for the success of a group, it is clear from how they are discussed how loved they are
@@Yetti. thank you 🥰. This is why i love both of you 😍.
@@eydeguy8861 ☺️☺️
I still struggle to believe what he means with they sucked at singing
Let me say this. if you only listen to one group in KPOP, you miss many heavenly musics
Exactly.
True
Agreed. You can be in a committed fandomship with 1, but don't deny yourself beautiful music. Even they listen to others 😂
@@hiddlespearean yeah. That's a fact

When SHINee debuted everyone in the industry was shocked! IU said that when SHINee performed all of the other artists would go and watch SHINee perfrom because they would aways sing live with flawless choreography which is really rare for new groups to sing live totally even to this day. You should watch live performance of Replay from SWC IV 😊
To tell you how ICONIC this song is, I was at food court in a mall in LA a few years ago, someone randomly started singing this song and like 40 other people started singing it too!😁
Wow!😳👍
That sounds amazing.
It is quite the love story 😄💙
Thanks for reacting to this great song and I cant wait to see more of your SHINee reactions!
Oh I do want to add that Minho was the rapper at this time but sadly didn't get a whole lot of line distribution in the song (including Taemin) which made both a little sad but now after their growth, the line distribution in SHINee's song is pretty fair.
That is a beautiful continuation
He got visual focus but I couldn't recognise his voice
I love how the format of the video is like in the old days xd Goes well with the reaction. Also please react to view, ring ding dong, lucifer and sherlock (clue + note) Love y'all!!

BEST DEBUT SONG EVER - HANDS DOWN! They are babies!!!!
As a comparatively younger Shawol, I was stunned to discover that SHINee was supposed to debut as a hip-hop group and all of them were supposed to rap originally ;)
They were all surprised when they were told that they were going to debut with Replay.
Minho is rapping as part of back up vocals.
Ohhh
REPLAY, is still one of the most GREAT debut song ever in kpop.
TXT, rookie group of BigHit choose to perform on REPLAY when they debuted.
SHINee is a contemporary band and I love it! ❤️
@Eliza T look at where that got him 😭
taemin wasn't given lines in their early debut days, but he never gave up and practiced A LOT. you can tell he can reach his jonghyun hyung's voice now. i am actually enjoying your reaction to shinee. i hope you will continue to support them.
I will. I’m happy you enjoy it.
theres actually a live version of replay that has a rap by minho and key (really loving your reactions btw)

The members were between 14-18 Years old at that time, 2008.
They all trained for around 3 Years, from trainee to debut.. though not so sure how long they trained together coz SM has the Trainee System - trainees are picked when they are ready, put in groups, train together then debut.

Yes, Minho and Key are both (fairly low) baritones which helps. Even though Jonghyun and Onew are tenors, their tone and control was unusually adult for pop. As for Taemin, once his voice settled a bit, he too didn’t sound like a teenager.

Replay is legit my favorite debut song in the 4 gens of K-pop. No song has reached how classic this is (Hope by HOT is classic too). Never gets old.
Onew, the oldest, was 18 turning 19 😊
Love your reaction every time Taemin appears.
Sooooo cute
You might also react to their "excuse me miss" live performance and Jonghyun's "y si fuera Ella" live. Their live performances are great. Thank you.
And it has been proven there's a link with Marry You and another song I forgot the title of
I did know noona that is why I was surprised to here it 🤗
@@malyceascarlet9837 the other song is "lovesick"
The best debut song ever...thanks for ur reaction..love for both of u on behalf of SHAWOL
I still listen to this song, it's on my playlist since 2009
It's a credit to their talent and their personalities to how long lasting and respected they are.
*The best Debut song ever*
Thank you for reacting to them! I love it so much,, please listen to more of their stuff plus live performances and their solos! All of them have solos
Thank you for loving our 5 shining boys too 🤗...I'm sure they won't disappoint you. Wish you could react to many of their live performances as well...it's definitely a bang! 😊😘
This reply song very popular because all shinee member sing with different lyrics song at the debut year shinee is really populer not just dance but their voice amazing ❤️
I am soooo happy you did this!
The best debut song ever coz it's Shinee
This made me really happy! Omg they’re so cute
Thank you for this reactiom! Now it's time to react to Minho and his legendary dymamite stage! Go on...enjoy!
Been waiting for anymore SHINee reacts from you girls! 🤗 now you’re through with REPLAY, time for you to know the sequel: LOVESICK😅
I will
Girl you have alot of comments way to go keep it up this has been fun.
I remember watching this when it first came out... it's great to see people fall in love with it even more than a decade later 🥰
Wow Another SHINee reaction 😍
Thank youu❤️
My pleasure 😊
Love watching both of you esp on reacting Shinee's videos. Cant wait for your reaction on Taemin's songs. You're gonna love it for sure. 👌😊
Thanks. I’m excited. She and other friends will be appear for sure. And me alone at times x
As a multi-fan I can definitely understand the struggle of having a group dominate your time and feeling overwhelmed by the idea of getting into other groups. It's a lot! haha At the end of the day, k-pop is for fun, so as long as you jump in and out as much as you feel comfortable doing, that's all you need ^^
Also fun fact, that I'm sure someone else has already mentioned, SM (the company SHINee is in) uses members from other groups in music videos.
Yup! Their choreos are insane enough at normal speed, but for the sake of a challenge (and a fan request), they performed at 2x the speed... and let's just say hold on to your head while you're watching 🤭🤭🤭
Just to add a bit more background on our shining boys, during their debut, Minho and Taemin didn't have solo lines in the recorded version as the vocals were mainly handled by the other three.
Thank you for the info. I will look for the 2x dance. It is soo sweet that they look out for eachother like that.
so young shinee and the girl Victoria💚💜
Noona mo yepo, sister your beautiful that was SHINee Replay best debut song that you will love cus we are beautiful noonas😆🥰💎💞
i lovee thisss! yeah replay is the best debut song !!
Yes! Another SHINee Reaction ❤❤❤❤❤
And it is with Queen REPLAY 💎
I'll wait for your SHINee reaction again! Please react to Heart Attack & CODE stage version too! Its song in Dont Call Me album
ok
It is fun to branch out
I love evil , to know it's a b track ahhhh
ITA, Japanese SHINee and Taemin records are amazing.
I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but SHINee is credited as the first kpop group to do such complex choreo. If you look at performances of older groups you'll see how much simpler it is compared to Replay. After this everyone else stepped up their game and did harder choreo.
This is the song that every rookie gro have to perform and they will perform
Best debut song till date✌
Reaction! Yayyyy! 🥰
Well... this is Shawols anthem 🤩... Noona neomu yeppo was really popular bc the songs from that time were like “beast / savage” and SHINee came with this cute boyfriend image 😋 and their first stage was dancing/singing live (at that time it wasn’t common) that’s how they get attention... ironically they didn’t win music show with it despite being so popular 🧐 but on August in the same year they released their first album with it tittle tracks Love like oxigene and won their first music show 🤩
Thank you for keep their spirits Shawol! 💎
Btw...
Thank you for the reaction
In shinee debut I don't know how many rookie newcover awards they got,, they are literally called rookie slamps who takes all the major rookie award...
Baby SHINee 🥰
SHINee World Concert IV. Check it out. Also, it's totally cool to mention Jonghyun. ♡
Noona neumo yeoppo is one of the most iconic if not the most iconic song in kpop history 😭😭💎💎
Thet got all of rookie awards with Replay in 2008 😍
I never get tired of hearing Replay 🥰 SHINee is the reason I got into Koop 🥰
can’t believe it’s already considered a veteran’s discount to remember a time when MVs didn’t have eng subs 😂😂
all jokes aside I love that y’all are loving shinee!!!
The amount of babies in Kpop... Girl when one is sleeping you go pick the other ones up. I don't even know how some of us stay awake in Kpop. Never a moment of rest. The juggling act is endless. *Taemin's age in Replay/Debut is 14.
Very hip sound! Nice. Thanks.
