Me too. His parents worked him to the bone so they could live well. Common theme in Hollywood and dates back to Jackie Coogan in the 1920's. I was so upset when people were annoying him at work because he had a job like the rest of us. For whatever reasons, people felt like they could ridicule him for that...for working a job! On a happier note, he was truly gifted in comedy and I enjoyed his work.
I will never understand how millionaires go broke. Just place the money in the bank and live off the interest. If the principal money is never touched, you cannot go broke. Live a normal life and everything will be great.
They get too much, too quickly and too young. They've never learned to handle money, also wealth and life style are addictive (the same goes to most lottery winners).
Most of these kids are from my generation. It is heartbreaking to see what showbiz has done to them. 😔 I mostly blame the adults in their lives though.

Joey Lawrence- SAVE YOUR MONEY Aaron Carter- Who the hell gets a damn tattoo on their face unless you have some serious problems? Dustin Diamond- He brought all his problems and burned bridges on himself Lindsay Lohan & Amanda Bynes- I have no sympathy
Dustin Diamond for years came off as a really mean person. I am gathering it was an attempt to distance himself from the character he played. Joey Lawrence, well frankly, if I were young and hot and rich, I would probably be broke in Hollywood too. But he is still working. I saw him on the new show with his former co-star. Lindsay Lohan, I mean, when your mother is out partying with you...that pretty much explains her story. I thought she was great in comedy and hope she makes comeback. I don't know a lot of Amanda Bynes.
My husband and I got to meet and get our photo taken with Dustin Diamond after he did a comedy show at Hyena in Fort Worth. Still have the picture. He was a very nice guy who took time to meet us and some other fans (my husband is a huge fan of his) after his show. He had a very genuine smile and we were deeply saddened by his passing. :(
There’s a few child actors who managed to dodge the bullet. I was just rewatching Interview With A Vampire. Kirsten Dunst has that combination of luck and talent that has kept her working steadily while avoiding any huge scandals. Yes, she’s had her share of professional and personal ups and downs, but nothing to really keep her from sinking.
Elijah Woods is another. A lot of it has to do with how well your family copes. Some parents become incredibly greedy when their kids start making that kind of money
Having grown up watching these former child stars at the height of their fame back then, we can only feel sorry at the way they made their downward spiral due to mismanagement, drugs, alcohol and other vices. Blame it also when they had to work at a very young age, with no time to experience what a normal childhood was. Let us also remember that fame is not forever, and cannot buy happiness 😧
Some child stars do well into adulthood if they can stay out of trouble and away from drugs. And if they keep landing roles and have trustworthy families.
I'm sorry but I find it hard to feel sorry for any of these people that screwed up their lives when it doesn't include "child star who got f'd over from parents and entered adulthood in debt".
I'm a 90's kid, grew up on classic rock, and grew up with ever changing technology. If you put me in a house party with strangers, I will spout random media/sports/celebrity knowledge to try and hide my awkwardness. Honestly, I don't know how I store all that information up there in my noggin. What I'm saying is, it's partially our own fault in these child/teenage stars downfalls. We idolize them, attack them, push them for greater songs/ movies. It's a love / hate relationship I have with myself. Of course I can blame myself for loving what I see on the screen, but more than that is their managers and family. Who have pushed them harder than we could ever be as adorning fans. They push them to exhaustion, to drugs, to alcohol, to suicide, and more. It's a whole sad circle. I just hate to see them grow up in such pain.
My sister is bipolar-schizoaffective and Amanda Bynes has so many of the same traits/symptoms. It’s common for it to hit when you’re in your early 20s. So sad. She’ll never be the same if that’s what it is. She’ll be heavily medicated for the rest of her life.
So we're going to ignore the fact that Coleman's woman was suspected of actually causing his death. She had much motive. My heart eternally goes out to Gary.
He also had very responsible parents who didn’t use his money. The family lived off the money his father earned from his own job as a stuntman. They wanted their sons to live as normal a life as possible. They ended up being 50% successful. Ron became successful but his brother Clint (who was also a child star, in Gentle Ben) had horrible problems with addiction.
How does somebody who has $5 in their pocket after making millions give Financial advice? I guess the real question is who would hire at person for such advice?

Great video! Just some additional info: Joey Lawrence “landed his breakthrough role in 1983 when he was cast to play Joey Donovan in the popular American sitcom 'Gimme a Break!' He played the role from 1983 to ...”. Sorry, I didn’t open the link. The show starred Nell Carter and her beautiful but underused singing voice (I think there was something in her contract limiting how much she could sing, maybe because she was focusing on her comedic acting for this project?). I’m pretty sure that success led to Joey landing his role in Blossom, as he and his little brother were very well known for their extreme cuteness (aka bowl cuts + perkiness). Joey was just aging out of the kiddy talent pool, and the new role coincided perfectly with his tween idol persona that ‘evolved’ just in time to be perfect for the part he found… in his hair. Yep, I’m old now. I get to do all the dad jokes I want. 😄
I sincerely feel the worst for Lindsay Lohan than anyone else in this. Her addiction got the best of her, and the reason I feel so badly for her is, I grew up the same age as her, so I saw it all unfold
Yes, but Will Smith is just another parent/star that has succeeded in having a first class dysfunctional family life that spits out dysfunctional offspring. 🙄
Corey Feldman is still one of my favorite actors. I wish he could make a comeback. He has such a relatable look and presence...and Lindsay Lohan is a legend.
So true , people can't get their priority's straight then go crying for money. Some stars have mentioned that they were poor growing up and there was not enough food . Did their father and mother have money to buy booze?
This statement made me think of TikTok by a girl from New Zealand who says American prices are false advertising thanks to all the hidden fees & sales taxes
I feel bad for all these kids. Obviously, their parents didn’t give a shit about them - only the money that they could earn. Had their parents been more concerned, most of these kids would be well off. So sad. Parents, please don’t put your young kids in show biz - it rarely works out well.
It should be in the contract now - 1/2 the warning go into a savings or something the parents cannot touch - until they are 25. This should be stopped. No parents should steal from their kids.
Mixed feelings about these cases. Some youngsters were shamelessly exploited by the people where supposed to be on their side, and some screwed up all by themselves once they came of age.
Joey Lawrence? He's one of few child stars I can think of who actually was doing real good at making. I think his worst thing was his divorce and he got remarried. FYI I didn't watch the video so I don't know all the details so sorry ahead of time but still I think he's recovering thankfully
It’s easy for everyone to say they would be much smarter but if you haven’t gone through what these people have you can’t relate. Imagine being a young star making millions with no real guidance, anything you want is a phone call from drugs to a private plane then as u get older work starts to dry up but you keep spending because you were on top of the world so you think that the work will come because again nobody gave you real guidance and told you to save ur money because one day the work might be gone. It’s gotta be a super hard thing to deal with.
California has a law called Coogan's Law, based after Jackie Coogan (yes, the Addams Family, Jackie Coogan) after his parents spent all his money that says that a child's salary must be put into a trust fund until he or she turns 18. You would think that other states would adopt that law and put it into their own constitution.
The current version of the law is codified in sections 6750-53 of the California Family Code and section 1700.37 of the California Labor Code, not the state's constitution. This law requires a child actor's employer to set aside 15% of the earnings in a trust (often called a Coogan Account), and codifies issues such as schooling, work hours, and time off. At present, Coogan Accounts (a.k.a Blocked Trust Accounts and Trust Accounts) are required by the State of California, New York, Illinois, Louisiana and New Mexico.
None of these or any other young actors or even young professional athletes are bad people. They had a lot of money thrust upon them with no idea how to manage it and also no realization that the money was going to come and then go in few years. When you're 17, 18 or 19 you don't have the foresight to see something coming to an end. If properly invested instead of spent they would have been set for life with a comfortable living, you know, the one most of us regular people live. But without ever having to work again. Instead it is lavish parties, mansions, expensive cars and clothes and then bankruptcy when it all ends.
How do they say that thing. First comes the rape and thievery and then it really get bad. They say if you work in this industry you will be required to sleep with somebody.
4:55 - Okay, so what does that mean? Are they saying they _didn't_ pay for it, or are they saying they helped pay for it without needing an application to be filed? 🤷🏿♂️
Joey Lawrence's Chapter 7 bankruptcy case was settled a year later. The IRS was paid $31,000 out of $67,000 owed, while the State of California Franchise Tax Board was only paid half of a $14,000 claim. Ford Motor Company received $0 despite filing claims totaling $42,000 and BMW did not see a dime of the $50k owed to them. Capital One got nothing over a $30,000 claim and American Express got screwed out of $47,000 the actor owed them. The other creditors who did not see a dime included a Daimler Trust (owed $130k) and Woodside Credit (owed $76k).
Life's not all boo hoo's and hankies y'all...Some have walked away from fame and lived happy lives. Some have made the transition from child to adult star as well.
It's nice to noted at a young age, but spending what your receiving is most important. Very show TV shows seem to live forever & u cannot buy Windsor Castle & still cannot live "The Life Of Riley forever." & 2B in debt with the IRS is the worst, ask Al Capone.
I'm glad at least Willie Aames has found some solace and turned his life around. Heartbreaking stories. I saw a reality documentary on n which Aames participated in in which he had to sell off just about everything he owned, tried a number of jobs/potential careers before ironically becoming a successful financial planner in the Midwest with the help and support of good people, then was able to re-connect with his family, God Bless him.

It's sad that David basically let his battle with addiction ruin his life just like it did with his father jack Cassidy
David Cassidy.... So sad. He was an amazing person.
Well, Jack Cassidy was killed in a fire and David's health problems were genetically connected to his biological mom.
and no mention of his gambling problem. From what I understand he lost a ton of cash on the horses.
Well, that was depressing.
I wish I was worth 3 to 4 hundred thousand dollars lol
I will never understand how millionaires go broke. Just place the money in the bank and live off the interest. If the principal money is never touched, you cannot go broke. Live a normal life and everything will be great.
This happens alot in pro sports, sad to say.
They get too much, too quickly and too young. They've never learned to handle money, also wealth and life style are addictive (the same goes to most lottery winners).
I find that people who mismanage their finances do so on the scale of their earnings, no matter how great.
You can still go broke its call taxes you have to make more than the interest earn
They can't live a "normal life" because they're not "normal"
When Aaron Carter sees this, expect a lawsuit. 🥴
He has all the exhibits and is going to drop a ton of money to sue everyone once he gets that 10 million secret trust fund comes in on his birthday.

Most of these kids are from my generation. It is heartbreaking to see what showbiz has done to them. 😔
I mostly blame the adults in their lives though.
We also need a list of child actors who succeeded after the early fame. Ron Howard, Kurt Russell, Beau and Jeff Bridges, Donny Wahlberg, etc.
Drew Barrymore
Jodie Foster
Mayim Bialik (Blossom), Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael J. Fox.
Keenan Thompson (SNL), Britney Spears, Christina Aguilara, Justin Timberlake, Mario Lopez. Depends on definition of success I guess, but ya.
Leo, Jared Leto!
Surprised more weren't in tax trouble. Many rappers are unaware of paying taxes until the IRS comes knocking and it's way too late. Some actors too
The IRS are a bunch of crooks. Abolish the IRS and let the people keep the wages they earned
Emilio Martinez ... That's a nice idea until the roads in your city need repair
Will Smith almost got put away by the tax man... His paycheck from the first season of The Fresh Prince went to the IRS.
@@MikeHart72 the roads never get fixed anyways 😂
What contributed to any of these kids downfall was not only the parents but the Hollywood system and they shit they had to do to stay relevant…
Also their inability to make sound financial decisions. Can't blame it all on the parents or Hollywood.
Hollywood in general is a place based on fakery, manipulation, lies and abuse, and while they may have managed to cover it up to some degree in the past, increasingly we are seeing people coming forward with disturbing exposes on what goes on there
Their *job* is fabrication, it's literally why it exists. They manufacture fantasy and a person's ability to stay employed is directly dependent on their ability to pretend to be someone else, aka act, and as we've been seeing more and more, their willingness to submit to the inappropriate, perverted, degraded and wholly criminal yet overlooked demands of individuals with the power to get them where they think they want to be. It's a dark place and seeing what comes out of there recently seems to be almost openly admitting to its iniquity and saying 'we don't need to hide anymore'
For every 'successful moviestar', there's 99 failed ones, still clinging on to that unrealistic dream of stardom because they're living in fantasyland in their head and unwilling to accept reality. If this business chews up and spits out grown adults onto the streets homeless without the slightest care or hint of remorse, imagine what it does to children
Child actors should not be a thing and no parent should be allowed to essentially pimp their child out, especially when there is no vetting of any kind as to whether they have the capacity, or intention, of handling their child's career and earnings properly. Too many kids have had their parents steal the money they made and mismanage their careers leaving them broke and way beyond the point of no return for a career. It's a travesty, disgusting, and everyone knows that, yet it's still allowed to just keep on happening for some reason. People with moral and ethical integrity need to speak out more against this morally bankrupt and corrupt industry.

He was a crazy brother of a star. Is.
Joey Lawrence- SAVE YOUR MONEY
Aaron Carter- Who the hell gets a damn tattoo on their face unless you have some serious problems?
Dustin Diamond- He brought all his problems and burned bridges on himself
Lindsay Lohan & Amanda Bynes- I have no sympathy

No need to have sympathy for Amanda Bynes, she’s a multimillionaire.
@@TheIkaika777 She also said mean things to Rhianna after she got beat by her boyfriend. What a bish.
What a judgemental person you are
Dustin Diamond for years came off as a really mean person.
Some of these people don't know the meaning of the word broke.

So if Amanda Bynes currently has $3,000,000 in the bank then she shouldn't be on this list.

I don't blame you. He died if the same thing my son's father died from
I think Dustin diamond grew up to be very goodlooking. It's too bad he couldn't get different roles.

Yeah, from Eight is Enough to Charles in Charge.
Scott Baio sucks.
So what is the most common denominator? ...children??? PARENTS!!!

Some youngsters were shamelessly exploited by the people where supposed to be on their side, and some screwed up all by themselves once they came of age.
parents should NEVER be allowed to manage their kids money............

@@RaymondHng Question answered, thank you
None of these or any other young actors or even young professional athletes are bad people.

For some, I don't feel sorry for you. Like Joey L and his wife. GET CONTROL OF YOUR SPENDING! I would put all in my account and live off the interest.
Everybody got what they were owed, just not from Joey. They got it all from The rest of us.
