very handy! you can do this with any fresh herb! lavender, jasmine, chamomile, etc.

  • @JanetWilham

easier method=take the mint run it through a food processor which chops it very very fine-then add the oil and place in jars--more extract will come out of the mint then just tearing it. I also dry my mints first--then run in food processor to make=mint powders same with any herb.

    • @ChristopherJones16

They didnt have food processors but apparently youre ok with them having video cameras to make videos in the 1600s. :)

That does make sense blending it. But what are you blending it with? by itself it will just heat up & water will just get it we and will take ages to
dry once its in bits...the only other thing i can think of is oil??

So if I do this, and then reuse the same oil to do the same process again, does it make the oil more concentrated? I’m actually using this for lemongrass, and something said you could repeat the process with the same oil. If that’s true, then I could have the same volume of oil do much more.

I attempted the second method. I would advise against it unless you are Sof, who has had better luck. It was a waste of my mint, oil, and time. I was careful with the heat, but ended up with some sort of cooked soup scent that strayed so far beyond what I originally started with and what I wanted - the scent of fresh picked mint. Maybe the heat of floating your kettle/pot in warm bath water instead of a stove top might work.

HI Michelle, I love coconut oil, but I think sunflower or vegetable oil is better to use as it heats well and is cheaper - you are just using it as a 'carrier' to extract the mints goodness. You can then mix it with coconut oil once you have made it. Hope this helps!

Hi, that's odd, that's never happened to me, there are several possible reasons : not enough mint used, not cooked long enough, or slowly enough - I once 'burnt' it which ruined it.
      Hope this helps. Sof
