Im an imported Japanese🇯🇵 There's not much difference between the nutrition labels in the US and Japan. cal and kcal is interchangeable. The chicken bar was one of my favorite post-workout snacks when I was back in Japan! They mainly use grams and milliliters for serving sizes-that's the only difference, I guess. The nutrition facts for the chicken bar are Protein 12.2g and Fat 1.2g, which 48.8 cal from protein and 10.8 cal from fat, so the total calorie count is around 60! You're one of the most inspiring ladies in the gym community, and I enjoy watching your videos and learning from them as well. Keep it up, Patty!

I would trust and encourage others to try the food from Bucees. On the east coast they got good subs you can make. We also got freal machines at any station I been to in the US. It’s really not that different they just have a different diet

HOWEVER when we say "Calorie" on food packaging in the USA, it refers to, in actuality, behind the scenes, and in reality, a Kcal (calorie x 1000) because an actual calorie is so small of a measurement and if they put actual CALORIEs the amount of zeros would terrify everyone and nobody would eat a thing. So in effect they're the same exact thing in reality. They indicate the same amount of potential energy in the food. They just leave the "K" off in USA.

Definitely try the onigiri (ricetriangle thing). The smoked salmon filled ones are the perfect post workout snack with the fiber/carbs/protein combo. Also totally not jelly that you are in Japan, not at all.
calories are a standard of heat content when burned in pure oxygen. Calorie, with a capital C, is 1000 calories which is used to measure the energy content of food. kcal is used in most countries outside the US to avoid the confusion between Calories and calories.
When I was in Osaka a few weeks ago, one little thing I was thrown off by at all the convenience stores is that they all had zero calorie colas that said they were for reducing fat absorption. Apparently, they have the addition of dextrin for fiber. Not sure how effective is really is. They haven't introduced those here in Korea.

Everything’s low in calories because they care about their ppl and have universal health care. So they don’t allow all the terrible chemicals into their food like the US.
i've stocked up on the konjac jelly snacks when I shop our local korea town grocery/mall. they are all purely snacks, not vitamin enhanced or anything. they are a refreshing experience when chilled. my favorite are the peach flavor and white grape flavor. the apple isn't bad either.
What I noticed about food labeling in Japan is that a lot of times they give calories per 100mg weight. So you have to see how big the entire thing is and do some math.
