    Having had time to digest the gardens after our visit, Bodnant is now firmly my favourite National Trust property that I've visited to date. Which one is yours, and do you have any recommendations for me?

      Here in the USA we have a Children's Song that very young children sing at school, THE FARMER IN THE DELL.
      It probably is even on UA-cam.
      This was a beautiful look at Wales!!!

      I've just gone and looked it up on UA-cam... the tune is very familiar, but the lyrics aren't to me. I guess if I'd grown up over in the US I might have had a better idea. To me, a 'Dell' was a brand of computer before this visit 🤣 So pleased I've been able to showcase Wales in such a beautiful light from the first episode

    Love your presentation style, where you allow the stunning images and soothing music to speak for itself, with just enough enthusiastic commentry. Well done you deserve more subscribers and views.

      Hi David, so pleased you enjoyed the video. I really enjoy watching videos of places on YT that are difficult for me to get to, so I'm pleased I've been able to do the same for you

      Couldn't agree more about it being amazing. I'd love to go back, especially in the summer as some of the areas near the ponds looked like they'd explode with life and colour a month or 2 more down the line.

    I'd never heard of Bodnant Gardens before but it looks like a beautiful place. So many bright colours and hidden spots - sounds like every visit will be different. Loved the look of Pin Mill and the little streams that flow through the gardens. Now we both know what a dell is! Another great video, looking forward to seeing more from your north Wales trip.

      Hi Matt - so pleased you're looking forward to this series. Every time I start a new one, there's always a slight worry that people who've been with me for a previous series wont be interested in the new destination! Pleased I've been able to pass on the knowledge of a dell too 🙌

      @@WhenAdventureKnox Don't worry Caroline, I'll be sticking around! I know what you mean though about starting a new series, I have that challenge all the time - especially when I change country. Some times I wish I'd have stayed in certain places a little longer!! 😆

      I adored Wales on this visit. I've been on a blink and you'll miss it visit to the Brecon Beacons many years ago, but now very eager to get back, and I'd love to explore more of the coast line too. I have a number of gardens I'm hoping to visit this summer so can't wait to share them with you

    A place I need to spend more time in, absolute gorgeous part of the UK but I always feel sorry for children living there trying to lean how to spell some of those place names! The gardens were stunning a riot of colour and I love Rhododendrons, which I have in my front and back gardens. I always love a waterfall as well, so that was very impressive as was the mausoleum. very enjoyable watch, cheers Alan

      So pleased you enjoyed the video and you're right about kids having to learn the spellings... though I've heard Welsh is spelt a lot more like it sounds than what English is... but still flipping difficult in my opinion 🤷 that pocket of North Wales really was spectacular - I hope you get the chance to go soon enough and also get to see Bodnant.

    You have beautifully composed this walk around one of the National Trusts greatest gardens. Spring is perhaps the best time to visit for the dramatic colour of the rhododendrons and azaleas and until Covid it was a regular spring destination. More recently I have visited in summer when the terraces you explored come into their own. They are simply spectacular. I keep telling myself that I will return in the Autumn as there are so many unusual trees and shrubs that this season must have an equally enthralling appearance. Like you said, I think the areas following the stream, down from the first bridge you initially thought to be the "waterfall bridge" is my favourite area. Did you see the amazing Giant Sequoia trees? Looking forward to seeing more of your journey.

    • @WhenAdventureKnox
      @WhenAdventureKnox  2 роки тому

      Yes, we spotted the sequoia trees towards the end of our day as we made our way back up. I always feel bad when I put my mind into this mind set, but I didn't film them because I've been lucky enough to travel quite a bit in California including Redwoods and Yosemite which have some crazy big trees so I think I was taken more with the pretty flowers. We both said how we thought the terraces would be amazing in summer with the roses and other summer flowers. I'm eager to go back to that part of the UK at some point in the future so would be good to go in Summer and tie in Bodnant too. So pleased you're looking forward to me sharing more of my adventures with you!

    • @IvorsTravels
      @IvorsTravels 2 роки тому

      Thanks for taking the time to reply. I understand what you mean about the Redwoods of California. Each time I see the Sequoia in the UK I want to re-visit the National Parks. Those trees in the UK are just babies. If you are interested there are a couple of short movies we took in the Californian parks posted earlier on my channel.

    Hello Caroline,
    What a lovely video you have put together here. Your confidence in front of the camera is inspiring! I wonder if I could be really cheeky and ask whether you would mind me pinching a few seconds of your Bodnant Gardens footage to include in a video that I am currently editing about a stay at the nearby Bodnant Caravan Park? Full credit will be given, along with an info card added at that point in the video that directs viewers to this video on your channel.
    I also like the bit in your 'About' section that says that you like to make the most of your summer holidays as a teacher! As an ex-primary school teacher, I can certainly remember that feeling of utter elation at the beginning of summer!
    Best wishes!
    Jamie

      Hi Jamie, thank you for reaching out and for liking my footage enough to want to use some too!! Please feel free to use anything from this video, and I have a handful of others from North Wales if you wanted anything from those too. It's funny how fellow teachers just understand what you mean when you talk about finishing for holidays. All of them are welcomed with open arms, but there really is something special about the start of summer feeling 🙌 I'd love it if you could let me know when your video goes up as I'm super curious to see what footage you pick.

      Hi Khatoon, I am well thank you - how are you? I thankfully have been mostly unaffected by the floods this time last week in London as they were a bit more west to where I'm based - though we did the hear the thunder claps during our meetings at the end of the school day. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this awful weather though, especially those over on the continent. It's always interesting to hear what gets reported around the world. Your research is spot on, and a bit later in the series, there'll be a vlog where I climb Snowdon - the highest mountain in Wales (and technically England and Wales) I'd considered a visit to Port Merion on this trip, but there's an entry fee and due to COVID were not running tours so felt it may be better to save it for a future visit. You are most welcome and I'm pleased I've been able to showcase the landscapes in a way that makes you feel they're 'magnificent'
