Thanks for the video. I just changed one fuel injector on cylinder 6 and it was missing the rubber seal, small tab that's welded on the injector, and the decoupler. Which explains this loud tapping noise during hard acceleration. The fuel injector looked bad and I found the tab in the cylinder. I had to fish out the tab with some long pliers and pick. The previous owner or whoever had no business changing it out. Luckily it didn't damage my car. Thanks, fellow Houstonian.
Grest video - thx for the great explanation. I’m finally replacing the original injectors on my 2007 335xi after hitting 100K miles. I had bought an injector puller tool and was wondering what all the other bits in the kit were for.
Soni recently bought some used index 12 injectors and replaced the seals and cleaned up all the carbon deposit. Upon reinstalling , seems as if there is a gas leak. But I checked the fuel lines and the surrounding area and don't see any leaks. You can literally see the gas on the cluster going down. Please advise.
Well, hate to be the bearer of bad news but we're the professionals here...... and you are incorrect. You always replace the seals. I mean unless you like trashing cylinder heads......
you said there's 12 different injectors they've made? theres a 1 where theres a 7 on these injectors..i took mine out and they have the ring in tact still but its white i oreded everything needed to replace but is it possible for the 1st gen to be good still 10 years later, they are loud too..
so what you're saying it being a BMW 535i xDrive 2009 is it better just to change and put new ones because I bought the car about 2 years ago and I didn't know if there were ever replaced, I just change the valve cover gasket and spark plugs runs a lot better but still hesitates a little bit why I don't do you know what I need to do if that's what I need to do or what what else thanks I really appreciate it God bless you thanks.
I have a good question for you if I just put the new rubber seals and refurbish the injectors can I just put them right back into their same place without entering them into the computer because there will still be the same ones just putting them back into the same place
@@Abrhouston i have random misfires my coils and plugs are new I remove one injector #1 and it's very dry while #2 it was with a little gas the car its running very rough and I can't make it that far because it turn of by self all the time and the power it's very reduced, any suggestions? Should I go ahead and replace the injectors
Hi, i installed my new index 12 injectors yesterday but made a little mistake. On two of the injectors i had forgotten to put the decouplerelements on, which i realised shortly after putting them into the engine. So i quickly removed the injectors put the decouplerelement on and put the injectors back into the same hole in the engine. My question is do i need to replace the ptfe seal near the tip of the injector as it had already been in the engine or will it be fine as the engine wasnt turned on and the injectors were only in for a few minutes. Thanks
I have a 2007 335i with cylinder 3 misfire BMW technician says it's a bad injector. I still have the old injection system can I still buy the old system injector and replace that one without the high cost of replacing them all?
Ronald Gower technically you can but you will have constant issues with the other injectors in the near future. If you're planning to own the car for a long time it would be better to replace them all.
I have bought all new injectors and waiting for them to be delivered. What program do you recommend for me to use to code them once I have them installed?
i want to check the code if its right numbers a must take the injektors out for this and after moste i do same code agian from computer if the code is right? Moste i do the code evre time to check injectors? Or only first time?
The number you need is on the side of the injector XXX with XXX underneath it. You put that into the DME via a test plan. The DME will change the numbers, so they will not match when you look at what the DME has vs. what the injector has.
where do you get the adapter to slide the ring on to the injector? at 3:00 i ordered the kit from precision race works but i dident come with that tool.
l do have injector with calibration number starting with 700****** and 800**** instead of 500**** what l have on my E82, would l be able to use them if l code it to the computer. what does the calibration number represent? thanks!
Kerim Danismaz Kerim Danismaz as long as you have the numbers on the injectors that's all that matters. They only really represent a calibration value the DME understands. After you code them, the numbers you punched in will be saved in the DME, and the stored numbers will change as well. Sounds confusing, I know :/
I have coded them to vehicle, so l would not have any uses with flow rate of gasoline in to combustion? Does the high calibration number represent higher flow rate?
If I have an injector which I didn’t pull out but but loosened the bolt and removed the bracket and and checked to see if it had any play, would I still need to replace the seal?
ABR Houston Your BMW, Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche Service Specialists I'm I'm Houston too but not sure where to get the tools needed in a timely manner.
You may be able to purchase them separately from a place like the dealer or ECS tuning, or a little x-acto knife /razor blade will do the trick as well
Geez! I had no idea, that one needed to go through so many freaking steps. Just to replace some injectors! Simplicity thrown straight out the window. 😔
ABR Houston Your BMW Specialists had the place that I bought the car from replace the exhaust cam ledge and I still get 2A87 code and have a bad injector now.
ABR Houston Your BMW Specialists the cam ledge was def an issue, the groove was 0.019" deep. The tech set the timing 180 out somehow and it dry rotated maybe 200-300 times? I'm thinking the assembly lube was used up and the new teflon cam rings were worn down. They're gunna take it apart again and check the rings/replace them. Does this sound possible?
Dealer injectors come with a new seal already compressed with a cap on the end to keep it compressed. However, they don't come with a decoupling element - you have to buy that separately. I always found that a bit odd because you can always forget to put on a new one when refitting.
I'm having a rough idle and a slight misfire every now and then under decent power. I'm changing my oil, plugs, coils, and top o2 sensors. I have a cylinder 4 misfire and o2 sensor failure code. Is it a good idea to clean the tips of the injectors and replace the parts you suggested also?

you made me realize how complex these engines are, if my N54 goes I'm replacing it with a simple 2JZ-GTE.
Ha! Maybe we can just do a performance build for you instead :D
Or simple and reliable s54 because I'm tired of fixing new bimmers
Reusing index 7 on a new built motor, crazy considering they're already spending 7k for the motor and can't buy new injectors lol.
And did you see how filthy the injector was when he put it in
I would spend another $1500 for index 12 instead those old index 7
@@mr.n5435 they get like that after even 10 miles of use .. they always look like that and its not an indication of anything.
Thanks. The kit also comes with a tool to press down to seat them well. Got kit on eBay for around $100
quite sure the order for the tools wasnt inverted?
This video was supper helpful 👌🏾
Alex have you had success with taking injectors out cleaning the tips and replacing the seals and reinstalling to make the car run better
No. If they aren't index 12 injectors, then you'll probably have issues with them. The tips aren't really the issue.
What happens if you don’t get them installed within 30 seconds of new seal? Thanks

That's a ton of money to throw at the car and not know if its going to fix it. Have a BMW technician diagnose it for you.

There isn't much you're going to "refurbish" on these injectors. If they go in the same cylinder, no coding is needed.
YEs but I would not use rubber seals= these are teflon to handle high heat
when are you going to do a video showing how to replace a valve cover gasket on a 520d N47 engine mainly how to remove the injectors.

If my number one cylinder injector is leaking fuel on to my spark plug and fouling it, will replacing the Teflon O Rings fix it?
Nope. You'll probably need an injector. Better change the oil, too!

Did you push the seal from on the cup adapter to the injector by hand or did you use something.?
there is a cone shaped tool that sits on the end of the injector to help you slide them onto the body of the injector.
Thanks for the nice video. Do you know, if these tools will also work on N20B20 engines? (2012-2016 328i, 320i)
yes!

Worst of all using index 7s I would have gone straight for 12s , my index 10s couldn't even handle 400 hp on stock motor
How is the fuel injector tool able to hold on to that bolt and pull it up? Will it lock?
Not exactly sure on the question, but the slide hammer set up will thread on where the fuel injector fuel line screws onto.
