These two were absolute best of friends.
I’ve met bonnie , she is one of the nicest people ! And was a wonderful friend to Lena ! Her family had Lena to stay to try to help her ! Lena was an incredible talent she was really but , so was bonnie both had wonderful talent … just look at them both amazing x happy young ladies best friends !

Unfortunately the way I think bonnie Langford was presented or was singing made her seem very bratty or a bit precocious of herself

I agree, and by the posters own date of Lena's life (1963-1999) at the start of the video, it would have made Lena seven at the time.

Lena's voice is sooo good ... Bonnie at that time a bit harsh sounding.. so sad what happened to Lena and I suspect there is an untold story... but Bonnie has matured into great actress and and performer.... rest in peace Lena

Agreed, in this clip Lena comes across as the more professional, mature, performer, whilst Bonnie looks like the chid-star-brat. However, Bonnie has become a very polished actress/singer/dancer, I've seen her in quite a few top-notch shows and she's wonderful!
I saw an interview where Bonnie said that that was a voice that she saying in, but that was not her true, singing voice. You can find some other songs of her is where she sounds totally different.
Being a Dr. Who fan, I recall how everyone always hated and made fun of Bonnie. This has just made me gain so much more respect for her.
I was gobsmacked upon seeing that some jerk, compiling an online list of the 20 most beautiful Companions, omitted Bonnie/Mel from the list, yet included that equine-faced, big-mouthed, ugly ugly ugly little KYLIE at the Number 5 spot!

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I also don’t think it was necessary to keep putting the date in huge letters in the middle of the screen. We got the message! (Even though the date must be wrong!)

Bonnie may be a good "all-rounder",but when it comes to singing,please leave it to Lena, I don't think she was ever i Lena's league when it came down to a beautiful tune and tone!
Bonnie was a very talented dancer but her singing left a lot to be desired, mainly because she had a very childish tone to her voice. Lena was a natural, she was pitch perfect and had a wonderful tone, a very mature voice for her age.
To be fair, Bonnie never tried to compete vocally.
Bonnie was very much forced into being very cute and kiddie like at this point in her life. she's since gone on to have a very successful career onstage in musicals and thankfully doesn't sound anything like this anymore. She's got a terrific voice, there near like Lena's was here when she was younger. the sad thing is as :Lena got older and obviously cuz of her illness her voice started to deteriorate and she wound up sounding better when she was younger than when she was older particularly in her last few performances. such a sad,tragic loss of a tremendous talent and a beautiful, caring soul. R.I.P Lena :-(

Poor Bonnie: yet another load of negative comments! (Prompted by jealousy?) She's the epitome of femininity; and at that time, she must have been the bonniest girl in the world! Lena (RIP) was far from ugly; but Bonnie was incredibly beautiful, like a fairy come to life!
I've noticed that Bonnie has, for years, received criticism from people of all ages, and both sexes. What's equally baffling is the fact that the infinitely less attractive Lisa Stinkson has been defended by such diverse people (from young girls online, to old men in my rambling club). Speaking of Simpsons, I reckon Bonnie Langford would be a fabulous voice-actress for Sherri & Terri, to replace Russi Taylor (RIP).

It's too bad this video is displayed in 5:4 aspect ratio, when it should be 4:3, which makes her look thinner than she already was. Other uploads unfortunately go to other way and display 16: 9 when when they should also be 3:4, which of course stretches the image out sideways.

I saw an interview with Bonnie Franklin and she said that that’s not really how her voice is. It was an act that she put on. You can tell she has good control of her voice. I’ve heard her saying other songs as an older person and she doesn’t sound like that.

no they were very good friends and contempories of each other. both were child stars in their own right and had careers before they got teamed up together by the BBC. Bonnies career speaks for itself now. this was over 40 years ago, people and performers change.

Look. I know people like to defend these two "talents" and accuse critics of jealousy. But the fact is that this dates from a thankfully bygone era because it's not entertaining in the slightest. There's a reason things like this no longer appear on our screen. I admit it has been replaced with more up to date garbge but that doesn't detract from the fact that this was also garbage.
I was sorry to hear of Lena's sad demise and I am glad Bonnie has managed to keep herself relevant (to a degree) over the years. So this isn't meant as a hateful attack on two girls with pushy mum syndrome. But how in the name of Christ can anyone actually stand that screeching? My ears are bleeding.
No question regarding the talents of the two girls, but it was stifled with that awful production and even worse making Bonnie play the perpetual child with that whining, Violet Elizabeth voice.
