Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I am a 62 year old female, and thanks to your amazing videos I was able to replace the left front turn signal bulb all by myself!! I didn't even scratch the bumper or anything. I feel so accomplished!!! And I probably saved a bunch of money by not going to a repair shop! You guys rock!!!
Wowww you rock !!!!! Thanks. For sharing this ! I’ve been procrastinating my bulbs replacement for a while now due to the labor costs!!! But I’m inspired to do it myself too! Ty!
I know this video is years old but I would just like to say thank you. Just like several other people here in the comments, your video was able to guide me through changing the bulb by myself and saved me some money. Cheers, man. Hope life is treating you and your friend well
Thank you for the video. I did not remove the entire housing. I saw that I could touch the driver's side turn signal bulb housing with my fingers in a secure manner so I used some long nose needle nose pliers to loosen the drivers side bulb housing so that I could twist the remaining bit and get it out by hand. It was a tight space, but I got it done. However, thank you for this video since it gave me the details I needed. 45 degree long needle nose pliers is probably best, but I used straight and 90 degree since I could not locate my 45 degree ones. I had to use the needle nose pliers to tighten it all the way back down after I started it with my fingers and got it go screw in as far as it could go.
Same. Slip-joint pliers to grab the tab and turn. Tricky, but if they're in the wide mode, clicked right away. No headlight assembly removal necessary.
This is the second time I've used this video to change my driver's side turn signal. You give such a clear explanation that it's pretty damn easy. Thank you so much!!!
Thank you for the video i just changed my left blinker with the help of your video keep up the great work and information you guys earned a sub for life 🎉🎉🎉
Helped me install a left front turn signal on 2014 Elantra -- I had to remove the headlight assembly as you did. Your instructions were very helpful; I went to O'Reily Autoparts and got Sylvania Longlife 2357A 12.8/14V, 28.5/8.3W, plugged it in, and left turn signal is now normal. Thanks very much.
Needed to replace both bulbs, right was easy and I followed this videos directions exactly for the left. Was done in 10 minutes. My plug didn’t wanna come out so with some careful shimmying I was able to remove the headlight with it still plugged in. I was a little nervous popping the headlight back in as it took more force than I thought ( thought I might crack something), but all worked out and now I have turn signals that work 😁 thank you for this vid!
Thank you for making this video. I applied the same idea/concept to the removal of the driver side headlight of a 2014 Kian Forte LX. One must do this VERY carefully to avoid damage because the headlight DOES NOT come out or REINSTALL EASILY. Great video and commentary to demonstrate it…
Use a bright flashlight for the following. On my 2014 Elantra, I took the fuse box cover off. This gave me room to reach up and use two fingers to push counterclockwise on the outer edges of the plastic socket wings. Manipulate the bulb unit out. Be careful about dropping it while doing this. If you do, you’ll have to find it in the engine compartment. I have large hands and was able to manipulate the socket in this manner. It’s about as difficult to do as the passenger side turn signal bulb without removing the entire light unit. Add some bulb grease on the base contact points and sides of the base of the new bulb, making sure to keep anything from getting on the glass (it gets real hot when in use). Insert the new bulb into the socket. One side of the locking dimples on the bulb is lower than the other, so twist it 180° if it doesn’t install, then turn and lock it in the bulb socket. Install the socket. Reach with two fingers to work the socket clockwise until it stops. A flashlight is your friend here. You may be able to figure out how to use a forked tool on the end of a ratchet extension, or whatever you can think of to turn the socket unit by its plastic wing. That would have been even easier but you can get a thumb and finger up in there to push clockwise and counterclockwise on each side. Turn clockwise to lock it in. Put the hazards on to check for electrical connection. After that, put the fuse box cover back on. Check the engine compartment for anything that you may have left around (that flashlight was almost crushed) then shut your hood. I did change out both sides since the bulbs come in a two pack. I saved that older working bulb for emergency use if on the road. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much! Your video was super helpful! You said exactly what bolts and clips needed to be removed and exactly which ways to push and pull the headlight assembly to remove it. It made replacing my turn signal bulb as easy as could be. You were very clear and precise in what you said and there was a lot of extra talk just to talk (unlike so many other channels). I will definitely be visiting your channel again for all my repair needs!!
Thank you so much for these videos. I just changed my left signal light and to say I’m mechanically inclined would be an understatement. Thanks to your video I was able to do it. Much appreciated 🎉
When I stopped off at my local AutoZone to pick up a part for my Nissan I saw a guy struggling with this Hyundai changing out this very bulb in the front of his vehicle in the parking lot. Thanks for the upload! After removing the four bumper trim screws just in front of the hood latch and the one or two clips for the bumper the light assembly popped right out and it was downhill from there.
You know there is any easier way to remove the light bulb without requiring to remove the whole headlight assembly, a simple needle nose pliers would work
I’m 56 and just replaced my bulb on my own!🙌 thank you for the easy instructions! But those stupid clips were brittle and broke 😢I just wish I knew the size to buy replacements. Thanks again
Awsome tutorial but what I really wanted to see was the marker lights done because if your gonna do all that you might as well change them at the same time.
My 2017 Elantra has a dash indicator for headlights, all work, brights, blinkers and brakes all work. Does indicator mean will fail soon or something else? Thks
I have a 2003 Hyundai Accent. A previous owner must have connected a beeper to the turn signal circuit. Every time you use the blinkers, it beeps like a truck backing up. The sound is coming from inside the dashboard. Am I probably going to have to remove the dashboard to disable this thing? Have you encountered this before?
i have a 2015 elentra base model and in jan 2020 i had the passenger side flasher just cleaned and re installed and then in feb 2020 i had to have the driver side same thing but now my driver side flasher is not working again and so i wanna try it myself to remove headlight from driver side since it seems driver side we have no choice to remove it and i will see if it needs to be cleaned or replaced my flasher biu like you menetioned the bulbs are enclosed water tight so why am i still apparently having moisture issues only 6 months after a garage cleaned the flasher ?? Lisa thank you
I used slip-joint pliers in wide mode to just reach in past the air filter housing, turn the plastic bulb base cover, and pop it out without removing the headlights.
i have a problem, bought a new socket but the light is working the opposite, the brighter light is staying one and the dimmer one is blinking. is there anyway i can flip it or how do i fix this.
I disagree with this method. The easier method is to remove the bulb holder by using a set of needle-nose pliers to turn it. This allows you to replace the bulb without having to remove any screws or bolts or the headlamp assembly. It can also be done by anyone, regardless of hand size.
This won't work if you have big hands. The guy I helped in front of AutoZone today as described in the response above his hands were way too big to get in there and even using the the needle nose pliers he still wouldn't be able to do it without removing the light assembly.
Yeah I saw this video and I was like, crap I have to remove the whole thing. So I went to autzone pick up the light bulb, went home, open the hood and got my tools to remove the whole light, then as I was looking more into it, I realize I saw the opening for the bulb, I reached my hands to loosen it, had trouble doing it because it was really tight space, but got my needle nose pliers, a simple turn and it came loose and I took it out replaced the bulb and put it back on. Alot simpler to do that then remove everything else and trying to put it back! I totally recommend this way, big hands or not, needle nose pliers for the win!!
I did it yesterday as shown in the video. I did spot the bulb holder, but I wouldn't try removing it the way you suggest as it would be quite easy to break the plastic screw in cover. I've had all too many unpleasant experiences in that regard. It was quite easy to remove the headlight assembly, change the bulb, and replace the headlight. All of 10 minutes
Great videos! I have my mom's 2012 Elantra and the right turn signal does nothing. Left works great. Hazards work great. No bulbs out. Could this be a fuse/relay issue or an issue in the switch on the steering column? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Great videos but my problem is that after replacing with a new bulb for the signal and parking light it’s still not working. I’m guessing it’s the relay. Do you have a video to change fuse for blinkers????
I first want to THANKS TO YOU. I did this and my turn signal is STILL not working was told it could be the turn signal flasher relay fuse (plug) Iown the EXACT TYPE Elantra color and all. Btw. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP!
I have the same issue. One front signal works fine but the other is weak. When I turn on the car alarm, the turn signal light comes on strong. the signal does not turn on when the lights are one. If the lights are off, the turn signal comes on but very week. What I did was I removed the weak socket and moved it to the other side and place the good socket on other side. Out come was the same. the issue is the socket not the headlight. I even bought new bulbs. I will order a new socket but I need the part number. I went to the auto store but they did not carry it.
Back in the old days you had to look through a book and it didn't give all the details on the job. Ended up going to a mechanic. Today a quick look into Google symptoms describe and even video shows up.
Anyone can help me my blinkers keep blinking fast and I changed them a few times , when all lights are off they flash but when they are on they don’t work any ideas what to do?
After doing this, it's really not necessary to remove housing for turn signal or light above it risk of damage to bumper or cracking clips, light or housing is not wirth it.
Does anyone else have issues with a loose receptacle or wiring? Mine starts blinking fast even with a new bulb. If I wiggle it, it will fix it but then after driving around a few days it is loose again. Anyone else have this issue or a solution? My car is also out of warranty and the dealership says there’s really nothing to be done except wiggle it back in each time
Yes, I had the same problem. It is a "ground" problem in the socket. I cleaned the contacts and tried to bend the contact slightly for better pressure. It has the same problem again a year later. It is a design error on the contact assembly. I may try using conductive grease on it this time, being careful the grease does not short out any contact that is too close.
@@rfabbas I think you are correct, this is the second time I have pulled the bulb out, cleaned the contacts, and bent them outward for more pressure, and about 6-12 months later same problem. I think the contacts need to be thicker metal and maybe a bit larger.
