Its a story about a nun in poland that gets possesed but maybe ahes just crazy and she goes through a series of exorcisms performed by her congregation, lastly she died. The lyrics sometimes is narrating, sometimes is th nuns perspective and also the demon's thats why it may get confusing at times to follow them. At the end of the song the girl "dies" due to the exorcism, they managed to revive her but it is revelaed that she died and the demon is still possesing her dead body. Its not giberish lol. They saw the news while touring in europe and decided to make a story. Props to you for gettting into one of the most difficukt song for a newcomer to listen lol. Thanks for the dedicatiob and analyisis
It is supposed to be an episode on the album. The scene reference would be in my opinion, correct. The album is called amputechture, which is like amputate, architecture and technology used to create a Frankenstein of sorts.
Amazing, epic song! I have read that it is supposed to be about a nun who has a evil spirit in her and others around (at sermon, refer to lyrics) try to conjure it out of her. Cedric (The lyricist/vocals) took it from the real life event and bent it to this massive song. A nun having epilepsy attack participating in congregation in somewhere in central Europe. Priest and others tied her in the cross and tuck her with things trying to conjure the poor "possessed" nun. They left her in that cross and the next day they found her dead. The priest got sentenced to prison. I have always thought about the ending cacophony of effects being the spirit causing mayhem after exiting its host lol 😅
@LoowyFTR except that the lyrics for this song all revolve around a few true stories of religious injustice. The main story this is based on was a convent in Mexico that had a Nun that was highly autistic and the congregation took her oddities as possession by the devil. After unsuccessful Exorcisms they ended up tying her to a cross and stuffing a rag in her mouth and he ended up dying from lack of air.
@@jasonsmith3289 it varies line to line, song to song, and album to album. Cedric has definitely said that he builds his melodies by spouting gibberish to the music and that sometimes he just keeps those "lyrics" in the song.

I tried hehe thanks for clearing this up

that moment when you laugh at the direction that the song is taking, immediately subscribed. Loved that.
🤣🤣🤣
You could argue “Vicarious Atonement” (the track before this) is sort of the intro and kinda builds into the opening of this track.
Cassandra Geminni is amazing < that "nn" is the title of just that track, where the whole 32-minute suite is called "- Gemini" with one "n".
this is my favorite Mars Volta song!
Great song
This song is about mental health as it pertains to religion, and it is absolutely insane.

Thank you for this explanation

thank you for this, now it all adds up
The references to speaking in tongues “glossolalia”, and Rosalyn Carter, and the title of the song point a pretty clear direction.
That’s the entire concept of TMV 😂❤
Most of the lyrics are pure jibberish, per the lead singer. He chooses the words for how they sound as an instrument rather than for storytelling.
interesting

They aren’t, if you slow down and read them.
