A53 Great value for photography as I do more Photos than video. I've now ordered to update from S7 that was 100% reliable in 5 years of use. The only thing missing is the wireless charging on the A53 but that is compensated by the long battery run time vs the S22. Midrange is Go ! A53 photos color is better for social media sharing out of the box.

This phone is trash.. You can get a OnePlus 9 pro in mint condition for $350 and it's literally on a completely different level This camera is completely worthless for video and night mode and the wide angle looks like a potato
I think sharpness is infinitely more important than color balance. You cannot create sharpness, but you can change the colors. I like how the A53 looks but I'm disappointed they didn't activate EiS and only use optical stabilization. I'm pretty sure EiS is on the A53 and they just didn't activate it to make it less of a competition to their flagship models.
That’s exactly what I think. EIS on the cheaper device would make the flagships less appealing. Apple does the same with the iPhone SE… no night mode 🙈

Actually with EIS and DeX enabled A52s would turn into literal flagship killer because on top of affordable price you would get good SD 778 chip and audio jack and memory slot
This is the best video comparison and I have seen so many over the past few days. This is exactly what I needed. I'm still undecided as to which to get because I do prefer the A53 for stills both wide and normal and selfies because it fits your face in more, feel like the S22 cuts off the top and brings your face too far into the camera. Don't like the yellow tones. It's just that stabilizer, that is the clincher though. Or does one purchase a gimble for the A53? When you consider the S22 is pretty much double the price, I guess a gimble for the A53 works out better. And I had no idea that the A53 does a little bit of night mode. So thank you so much for that : D x
The photos of s22 look like dslr shots...it is more accurate, has more details, dynamic range and better portrait than a53 5G but according to price a53 is a gem...by the way thanks for your efforts take love from Bangladesh🇧🇩
It's also the same for me , my s22 plus photo's are much better that the s22 photo samples shown in the video thought..i dont know the version of s22 in the video snap or exynos but damn a big difference in front of my S22

A53 keeps up very well and also has a microSD option which is nice. For video, well a mid-range A53 device is better kept in FullHD for good video stabilization.
I was about to buy the s22 because of its software updates (4 years) but now that I know that the 53 has the same updates and such a good camara, I will go for it, I'm saving good money and I'm getting the best price/performance/software support of Samsung and maybe from all android phones

Bokeh in portrait mode looked better on the A53. Can you adjust the amount in post? I wonder if there is a hardware limitation for EIS and 4K60 on the A53 or if it could be brought to life with gcam. It would've been a killer phone with those two features. Otherwise it is a dealbreaker for me.
I don't think so. The blur on the A53 portrait pictures didn't look accurate. Some closer areas in the pictures were more blurred than the further areas. I think S22 had a more accurate and realistic blur. But that doesn't mean A53 doesn't look good.
honestly, i prefer the a53 over the s22 when i need to take pictures and vlog for either church or myself. it would be beneficial, but much more beneficial once i put the video clips through my video editor and put all of the clips, post edit, in 4K.
Honestly the A 53 5g is way way more on the table for much less price. It's almost a no brainer. I have the s22 base model and was given to me. If I had buy one I'd actually choose the A series after this comparison. It's insane. Not sure why Samsung skimps on the base S series this year.

Wish I watched your video before getting S22+ yesterday, I'm very impressed with quality of A53 it's so cool that we reached to the point where the line is blurred between expensive and cheaper phone when it comes to photography. I very surprised that Samsung didn't offer EIS on A53, it would have made a huge difference, I'm damn sure it has hardware to handle EIS, And of course I checked A53 camera module it supports 4K 60FPS and Processor, It means Samsung trim down lots of good features from A53

A53 is great in photos but on video eventhough it has OIS the stabilization is not that good. Perhaps with a software update they will make it better. Great video Alex !
To be honest, nobody will tell the difference between both devices in terms of picture quality....and that is really surprising, especially if you look at the price tags: the Samsung S22 is twice as expensive as the Samsung A53. However, the S22 has 3X optical zoom, whereas the A53 has no optical zoom at all (digital only). That feature could set the difference for many customers.....
Further to my comment just now, don't know if we are allowed to as questions but I'm going for it ; ) What is it about these phones that makes up for the fact that there is no phone jack? i.e. do we just not need a portable mic anymore? Is that somehow integrated into the phone, you mentioned wind sounds but I couldn't hear them! And I worry that with no jack for a mic to be plugged into when videoing that this could become annoying sometimes if they've not made up for it with phone tech/hardware inside. Do you see what I mean? : )
Love my new A53, but it's a big learning stag, going to Android opp/system! I set up my front page w/all the apps I want and it's OK till I shut down and restart. The front page doesn't come back> have to find it's picture in wallpaper and select it for my home page!! It's OK, till I shut down again. Can't find how to lock in permanently!!

I have samsung galaxy A53 5g, but my camera is worst, even in low light and good light, camera quality is too bad, I don’t know what is fhe problem, i have changed lot of settings in the camera settings but not improved, if you can help me , it will be great for me.
If you lower the screen refresh rate you could get a bit more battery life. Also if you are on 5G that will eat the battery like crazy. Personally I turned off 5G on my phone and using 4G

s22 wins out right in ultrawide night mode, video, and selfies. I actually preferred the A53 in all other cases, that's quite interesting.

yes you can adjust the bokeh effect. I think Samsung left the eis out on purpose

When it comes to colours, that can always be fixed with colour correction. If the camera can take pictures without being blurry, I don't see an issue.

A key thing to remember is that the A53 does not have image stabalization when shotting video in 4K 30fps , IS is only active in 1080p on the A53 :D

Many phones are limited by the manufacturer so they don’t cannibalise the sales of the more expensiveones

I think they removed the headphone jack to make the phones easier to waterproof… and to save space inside them. Stupid thing to do.. but here we are

If you have steady hands and film in places with lots of light you can get some decent video quality

Daytime photo HDR is way better on the A53 Imo . ( more details in the dark areas in almost all the pictures for example ). Im kinda shocked

Optical Image Stabilisation makes such a big difference!

Your not using the same F-stop in comparison pictures, so you can't really judge.
Auto mode
Even if you try to overestimate the A53, it is far from the S22 for both photos and filming, especially at night. S22 is the ideal phone for tourists.
