For those that want to know what "normal" oil pressure is, here's as follows. On cold start up, 40 PSI is normal at idle. Oil viscosity is high when it's cold. When hot, on idle I'm at about 22-24 PSI, well within Cummins range. This is running 15w40 Kendall XDA semi Syn. oil. These numbers will vary if you run 10W30 like many do now. I used to run 10W30. On idle when hot, it ran in the 17-19 PSI range. Thinner oil, less viscosity. Detroit states a Series 60 needs an ECM reflash to accept the lower pressure from running a 10W30 weight and not shut down from it. A soot packed oil filter can cause either high or low pressure(not sure which)

My question is, while climbing hills or mountains my pressure dropped to around 20-25. I pulled over checked everything and no leaks, oil level is good. After shutting down the engine the pressure will raise up to around 35.
Is this a sensor issue or something bigger? Looking for feedback. Thanks you

@@melvinsimmons6698 I changed out the oil to Delvac and new filter and its back to normal. I have not had an issue since concerning pressure.
Oil pressure guage goes to “0” warning goes off. Replaced sensor, still does it. Installed separate pressure guage and it reads normal. Can I remove original oil sensor guage or how can I stop warning from going off.

I have Cummins isx engine my question is I have oil pressure down under 20psi when idle only pls help me if you have any idea thanks
Your lower end bearings need replacement and it needs it asap, if ur pressure is under 20psi. Im surprised ur engine still runs. It all cost u around 300 bucks plus mechanic
work, should be about 600. Hope that helps buddy! Make sure u get that looked at asap as it can really do some damage to ur engine.

My 2018 isx has that fuel filter back further with the cloth fuel filter is the oil pressure sensor in the same spot i cant find anything on it only this vid but its different

Hey crazy question to ask I have a 2004 Freightliner with a Detroit 14 L , I see my oil pressure sensor but I was not able to get my hand on it being that it's way in the back above my starter is there any trick that you guys know to be able to get to it

From driver side and underneath it be a little work on but not impossible

How often does it need changing?
When it leaks oil or the gauge quits working right. No time frame but most fail because oil will start to leak where the metal and plastic are formed together.

Waht is the normal oil pressure for the IXS maximum pressure running is 40 and parking is 20, it's normal?
Ed Leal cummins isle oil pressure is low. They will scare you at times like when you pull up to a red light and stop and it drops down to 20 lbs or so. They do run lower. Just keep a watch on it and watch your consumption

How do you get the little red tab to pop off?
I usually use a 90° pick or small flathead screwdriver to pry on the raised area on the red tab. Should pop out about 1/8" and then you can push in on the connector release. The red tabs can get packed with dirt so some wd40 can help free them up.
what size socket did you use to remove the sensor ?

What was the truck doing ? How did you guys come to change the sensor.
I explained it at 0:34 in the video. Was leaking where plastic meets the metal plus the Gauge wasn’t always working correctly.
Got a Cummins’s m-11 runs fine for a load . Loses oil pressure and shuts off. Bearings have been checked they are fine. Oil pump is fine. All this started after replacing EcM
