Hopefully you come back to this. I was really excited to see you revisiting it. You're the GOAT for beginner tuning, but there are still some bits from your first Gen 3 series that I'm fuzzy on.
Excited to see this series play out. Will be cool to learn more on 3rd gen stuff. I have a Cammed G8 and Supercharged 5th Camaro. Your 4th gen videos have helped me understand so much about the tuning process. Keep on keepin on!
Thank you man, i wish you start making mopar modern hemi tuning content. But overall im a mopar and chevy guy, and your channel helped me in tuning my first LS. Its a 6.2L swapped 2012 chevy caprice, heads/cam/bolt ons 6l80e car, ive learned so much from you, and i keep learning!
This is perfect. I'm just getting my '04 back together and driveable again and was looking to emailing you soon about a few issues I'm having. Thanks for all you do.
Hell yes man, thanks for making some Gen 3 content. I have a DBC 411 ecu LQ4 Chevelle I've tuned and your videos were great help. I'm planning on doing a LSA supercharger soon so if you do a 2 bar RTT on this thing it's be right up my ally!
I'd be super excited to hear more about the lean burn mode that PCM has locked inside and how to implement that strategy into a Holley Terminator X equipped aluminum head small block. Gas ain't cheap and I don't care about NoX lol.
Awesome to see some more Gen 3 videos kyle. Will you be doing a complete series including gearbox tuning, can't wait to see what you have install for the GTO 👌👌👍
Having a good mechanical state is really the foundation. I had a guy with hot start issues, wanted to run his 2000 Camaro 3.8 to E85 with bigger injectors and the SD was great. Then we went to MAF tuning and more I tuned it and more it was crap. The guy finally snap on the car and wanted all back to stock to sell it. I told him he had a mechanical issue and needed to try some things to check (mostly MAF related), he never checked thoses thing and prefer sell it like a completely idiot. Yesterday he told me just before selling it : "I found a bad wire on the MAF". I wanted to kick his face with a hammer.
Heck yeah man, I've been waiting for some more Gen3 stuff. Just took my 3yo son out for some tuning on the MAF portion of the new tune on my truck. He loves it! Can't wait to see the custom OS Stuff. As a side note, do you think the upgrade to the + maybe with pro feature is worth it? My reinstalled win 10 on my laptop and haven't had an issue with my serial to usb reading and logging my WB. Just wondering if maybe I should either step away from the serial and hook into the EGR or just get the pro....damn decisions.
I got a tuning issue that I’ve been fighting for a while now and is getting irritating. I bought a low mileage gen 3 LQ9 with 33k on it. I did a cam swap to a BTR truck Norris with the stock lifters. The engine already had TSP 1.72 roller rocker and the pushrods. I put on an a tbss intake with Holley fuel rails with 8.1l 42lbs. injectors and an LS3 TB. As of now it starts up cold great, but the warmed up start up is crap, labors to fire will crank for 10-12 seconds before it fires up after sitting for 25 or longer. But if I start it sooner than 20 minutes it fits up but still stumbles. When it sits for a while you can start it faster by pressing the gas pedal to the floor for a few seconds and then fires. My truck originally had a 5.3 LM7.
Have you ever noticed that the 2005 6L GTOs have their displacement listed in HP Tuners as 5.7L (when you do the math) on the engine tab? I always thought the displacement was used in the air/fuel math equations (I change the displacement when I stroke an engine), but I guess not.
Great video! This works great since I need some SD tuning on my 04 GTO (Barbados Blue). Do you tune other peoples vehicles?? My GTO is highly modified and I've had it to two different tuners and was not happy with either one. Mine is running a 441 LSX with twin 67mm turbo's on E85. The car runs pretty good, just not dialed in like it should be.
I am beginning to understand more and more by watching and rewatching multiple times but the one thing I’m not sure of is what order do I tune in??? VE, MAF, knock etc… what is recommended to start with and so on. I felt like I had my maf dialed in pretty good then went to VE and it was just ridiculously rich so I logged, multiplied by percent half and then it was extremely lean. Not sure if order is affecting that.
Hate to be "that guy" but a G8 would have been great to see. I was curious to see if gm just dropped in the big motor and left the suspension, brakes, etc under adapted. It is the cheap CTS-V isn't it?
My truck is a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 with a Gen 4 6.0 and I’m using the lingenfelter 58x to 24d conversion box. Can I still follow Gen 3 tuning? Also what should I do if I don’t have the factory tune file?
I have a 99 grand am 3400 I have over size injectors and heads been shaved 5 thousands I would like to know how to turn off all the anti theft so it never goes into limp mode because I do a lot of dirt track racing so car gets beat on a lot and I also would like to know where you would start out tuning with everything that has been done to it
Any suggestions on a starting point for going from my current h/c/I tune to throwing a 6-7 psi Vortech on? Dial back a few degrees of timing and adjust the PE?
Need help with tuning my gen 3 5.3 been going on for almost a year and still can’t get it right even paid for the Tony school I just can’t get and understand Truck won’t run without going into special functions on the scanner and darling down my fuel ratio I got some data logs I can send you if it would help thanks for your time
Man i have been watching ur channel trying to learn i have a 2012 gmc yukon slt with a bunch of stuff done too it and i live in vegas and the guy i took it to i think he really didnt tune nothing cause man i eat fuel like there is no tomorrow and it sucks man even spent the extra money and bought hp tuners just too see and well got screwd out of 520 bucks just too have him disable vvt and dod since i did the whole delete kit but ya asking for some help gear head to gear head
I have 08 Silverado with a stock 5.3. Someone has messed with the tune in the past and I’m having some fuel trim codes I’m trying to troubleshoot. My question is would you know a way to get a Stock tune file for this truck. I would like to eliminate what they have done in the past. The company who tuned it will not work with me.
Hey Kyle. Grg ftw. Just bought a 2004 2500 Silverado lq4. It already had shortys on and I think it has 3 inch exhaust gruel duals. My question is. Looking at it with my Hptuner a lot wasn’t changed. Like power enrichment, torque delivery, torque management was untouched. A lot of things were still I think stock. I did download the tune from it and saved it. It’s a 6.0 what’s my options,? My 5.3 Yukon has a richer afr power enrichment. ??? The 6.0 runs damn good for stock. I’ve recorded it on the highway with hard wot hits and I’m only seeing like 330tq around 3-4000rpms. Has it been tuned in only one area? If it has I can’t find it. Thanks GRG. Be safe
When u read dtcs says O2s are incomplete what's the deal with that? Mine says the same. Also how do I know if there's something wrong based on the mv readings from my O2s?
Do you have a video that shows how to READ a Log file and figure out what the issue is? I have a 6.0L swapped 2000 Silverado with previous 5.3L... New Motor is LQ9 with 30lb injectors and TSP220R cam. Added Flex Fuel sensor and 58PSI Corvette returnless fuel rail, that uses the 2001 corvette filter with built in return. So my Running Fuel pressure is 5-10lbs higher than stock 2000 silverado. Having an issue where it starts, but idles rough and my wideband shows the system all over the place. It's adjusting super Rich to somewhat lean (but safe)... Idle is ok at times, but gets rather crappy at times too. The Evap module "flitters" for lack of better work, where I can hear it clicking like a fuel injector. It's also still Drive By Cable, which hardly ANYONE DOES VIDEOS FOR!!! Plus I dropped in a tune for a P01 ECU (which I have) that's for a 2002 Tahoe which came with Flex Fuel, so it was my only option to get those features in the OS... The only update I have is just Speed Density, and no RTT... Can you PLEASE HELP? It would probably make a great video!!! I KNOW for a fact I'm not the only person who's done this...
Or, just making a video / stream where you and someone like me (hopefully me) do a "live" tuning session where you walk me through doing it myself, would probably help 1,000,000's of NEW TUNERS.. As I'd be able to ask you questions as they come up, and have you walk someone like me through the setup. And I have a TON of questions.
Essential tremors, had a brain implant installed since then, has really helped as long as I don’t turn it up to high. You know when it’s too high on later videos because it makes me slur my speech, lol
Yes back to Gen 3!
I've learned to use hp tuners an tune thanks to you. Thank you
Hopefully you come back to this. I was really excited to see you revisiting it. You're the GOAT for beginner tuning, but there are still some bits from your first Gen 3 series that I'm fuzzy on.
This is wonderful. My LQ9 swapped 300ZX is almost running and it's gonna be my first time tuning a gen 3 motor
Excited to see this series play out. Will be cool to learn more on 3rd gen stuff.

Working on it now!

I like this channel you make it so seem less.People love specifics about this stuff please don’t skip anything thank you for your time
I have a glowshift wideband. I love it. Also the colors may come close to instrument cluster, style too, my does.
My man! This is just what I needed. I’m starting the tune on the lq9 I put in my 05 Sierra.
Excited for this lol my 04 is gonna get spicy
Looking forward to this series! 98 z28 LS1.
Happy to see some Gen 3 stuff! Thanks!

Awesome stuff dude! I’ve got the 4 door version (Holden Commodore) will be watching heaps more of you from Australia !
Love the shirt. Repping the holden 🤟
This series is a really great idea. Thanks.
Definitely will be checking this series out. Need to dial my setup in it runs good at wot but my drive ability sucks
Dang I wish it was one of the E40 ones but it's still awesome.
Oo yeah. Going to use some of this
Awesome, looking forward to seeing this series. Thank you
GTO ftw
I'd be super excited to hear more about the lean burn mode that PCM has locked inside and how to implement that strategy into a Holley Terminator X equipped aluminum head small block. Gas ain't cheap and I don't care about NoX lol.
have you done a video of ls tuning after otr (over the radiator intake) and exhaust mods ?
Awesome to see some more Gen 3 videos kyle. Will you be doing a complete series including gearbox tuning, can't wait to see what you have install for the GTO 👌👌👍

You should do a E40 pcm tuning series

can you take a look at my tune and see what how you can help. new to the tuning game. how can i send you my current tune file and some driving logs
Love the t-shirt

May be an E40 ecu thing, in most cases it’s going to effect VE

You got a holden you lad
I need help do u have a video of tuning chevy silverado
I’m having problems getting my scanner to read my LTFS and SFTS any idea how I can get them to work ? Thanks
I’m in the process of piggy backing a gen 4 ecu on my 05 gto with the terminator, hoping it’s not going to be to much of a bear to deal with…
Does your graph layout that you sell cover tuning with afr vs lambda also? Very interested in it but I'm still using afr
👊

I’m having issues with hp tuners trying to deactivate the speedometer cut. Have you ever had this issue? 06 sierra 4.8 to 6.0 swap thanks
i wanna know what the muffler blow out tune is about! lol

Lol I hope this one is not to much trouble as my gto has been for you.

Decided that I was ready to start tuning and now everyone is out of stock for mpvi2
Look for the MPVI2+, HPTuners should have them in stock
I tried using a web book type laptop and found the storage severely lacking. It is now bricked due to lack of storage while trying to update itself.

You have info for the hemi?
When u read dtcs says O2s are incomplete what's the deal with that? Mine says the same. Also how do I know if there's something wrong based on the mv readings from my O2s?

How would you know if the MAF is reading in spec?
At that point you’re going to need a wideband to verify MAF function
What happened to this car?
The Commodor / GTO is the most milk-toast styling of any GTO. And they weren't even good looking after 64...
It's milquetoast, and that's exactly why I like them.
Frankly they didn't look all that great before then either.
Early Parkinsons? Your shakin like crazy plugging in the mpvi2....
Essential tremors, had a brain implant installed since then, has really helped as long as I don’t turn it up to high. You know when it’s too high on later videos because it makes me slur my speech, lol
Ahh ok more makes sense from one more recent where you sounded c*cked lol. Good to hear you got it managed!
Noooooo!!! I have a gen IV 😢😢😢
J
Hell yeah man A.B.T.
I'd always hook up a battery charger on the first read if possible
I need help with my 05 GTO
