There are many similarities between Poland and Mexico
    - both countries are predominantly Catholic with many beautiful churches
    - people of both countries are very family oriented
    - people of both countries are very hard working
    - immigrants from both countries were discriminated against
-Immigrants from both countries have faced major events of ethnic cleansing. During the Hoover administration in the 1930s, Mexicans were blamed for the Great Depression, resulting in the deportation of between 400,000-2,000,000 Mexicans and Mexican-Americans. A decade later, ethnic Poles in Nazi Germany under Hitler and communist Russia under Stalin faced a similar fate
    - Both countries have suffered histories of aggression and occupation from next door neighbors. For the Poles, the Prussians (later Germans), Austrians, Russians, and the Swedish. For the Mexicans, the Spanish, French, and Americans.
    - Both countries had large empires in the past
    - Both Countries have very attractive women.
    - Both countries have well known cuisines around world (or mostly Western world). Mexico has Tacos, Poland has Pierogies.
    - Both countries have large, skilled immigrant diaspora in English-speaking countries
    - Invented a major worldwide alcoholic spirit, which no other country can hope to compare to in quality (Wódka, Tequila)
    - Mad for Football! (soccer)
    - Here is a brief list of some Polish who have been important in Mexico:
Louis Borel de Brétizel, Elena Poniatowska , Jacobo Zabludovsky, Helen Plaschinski, Angelica Zawadzki, Henryk Szeryng, David Ostrosky, Xawery Wolski, Eva Maria Zuk, Arturo Ripstein, Mauricio Kleiff, Ludwik Margules, Ludwika Paleta, León Krauze, Rodolfo Usigli, Enrique Krauze,

Poland is *far* from being catholic. It's a misconception that most believe, but I urge you to ask any Pole about the Catholic churches rules, and I bet you 99% won't have the slightest idea.
Poles are spiritual, but that's something different.

I haven’t been to Poland, but I can say that people have misconceptions of other counties and cultures no matter where you go. German’s opinions of Americans are or were largely based on having American military bases. There are a lot fewer now than when I was there. But then Germans were getting their impressions from mostly young, mostly male soldiers, many of whom had never been away from home. It’s not until we mix and experience each other that we begin to appreciate why people love their homes and cultures. That’s when the stereotypes break down and the humanity reveals itself.

There was another comment about the word romantic replacing sexy. I don't think " sex " is meant, it's just meaning that it is very attractive and pleasant and maybe romantic. The meaning of words evolve over time. I never thought of Poland as a place I would want to visit but now it's looking very attractive. I've only been in three countries, USA, my home, Canada, where the people are wonderfully friendly and hospitable, and Mexico where they are as hospitable as the Canadians. I'm a little horrified by the direction the USA has taken in recent years, but at 82 years plus I can't make a move now. If I were 10 or 15 years younger I would move to Ajijic, Mexico.

you're nice people ! I was for the 1st time in Warsaw in 88'. Probably no other european capital changed as much as W during the last 3 decades. Poland is like a virus...a good virus : the more you go, the more you like (love !) it ! how many times I heard that it is an underestimated country, how many times...people prefer to pill up in the ramblas or under the Eiffel tower; here in Switzerland, from 10 tourists, 8 will focus on southern ("sunny") countries. The rest of them will have some other points of interest. Poland is just a fascinating country. Great -and tragical-History, nice landscapes, beautiful cities, very good gastronomy, nice people...

Good analogy Greg regarding comparison of Poland VS Mexico. But SEXY?...I guess that has to be experienced in person. I almost thought you guys forgot about the Coffee business...that is until MRS. Hillary Claus reminds us in her unique way...lol.

I thought you guys were going to go deeper in details.... All i got was
    "Both are sexy/overlooked countries" 😮
    I thought you would mention
    --- Religion
    --- Territory lost to neighbor
    --- Sport
--- How Hollywood puts a filter on them
    --- Hobbies
    --- Migration & Immigration
--- Politics (maybe no so much here, but you get the idea, just compare the basic things that make them similar dispate their differences).
Please take these ideas and make a one year anniversary living in Poland and how it compares to Mexico. Thank you.
    ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I visited Mexico, it's a very beautiful country. I don't know how much you can compare Poland and Mexico, but I think we have a lot of similarities. On the other hand, there are many contradictions in Poland. A Pole will not cross pedestrian lanes if the green light is not on, despite the fact that there is a large inconsistency in the law in Poland. Latinos don't do that. On the other hand, we let in Ukrainians fleeing the war, but we blocked the border with Belarus. These are contradictions.

Mexicans seem to me a more open nation ;) we are more like Japan and South Korea when it comes to the style of behavior of society in larger groups. Mexican music is almost legendary (Mariachi), ours not necessarily ;)
There are a lot of differences between us, but as a purely Mexican distant observer, I think we share our approach to work and national pride. We are looking for a better level of life in different countries, but Poland stays in us and doesn`t disappear despite being in a different culture. In this respect, Mexicans seem to be the same to me, they know what they love about their culture and, if they want to, they can promote it properly.

Those quesadillas looked legit! We are wrapping up our Italy travel this week and I would kill for some awesome quesadillas. I am so sick of pasta. We travel full-time as well and have spent two years in Mexico and I understand what you are trying to say. Mexico is not "Cancun". The Oaxaca's, Puebla's, and La Ventana's of Mexico are not popular with mass-tourism and those are the unique places if you are looking for the REAL Mexico.

“After about a week of living here in Poland, we have decided that Poland is the Mexico of Europe” *random goat enters the chat*
Me a Mexican: Yeah that sounds right 😂 I’m Mexican and from California, but my uncle owns chickens, has owned horses, goats, cow. They even made cheese from the cow. However now they just have chickens, and ever since I can remember my uncle had had those chickens and can’t live without them. By the way he doesn’t just own like 2,10, or 20 chickens, he owns like about 200 😂 they even have their houses 😂 and his other cousin who’s also my uncle has a few chickens plus a rabbit and a duck and goose 😂😂😂 I told my other Mexican friends and they find it out of the ordinary but it’s funny.
