Being a nerd who is in Stocks and MF for last 10years I can totally understand the importance of investment at early age. Navjot you have done a amazing job on this topic of Investment in Canada by far best video.
This channel is the only one which is not on off track, unlike other channels who start their channel with giving information on Canada PR process and then shift to useless topics..
Thanks for your prompt reply...yes I mean other than TFSA, where else can we invest, other than different types of funds like ETF? Actually investment means that you will get your money back but with interest...isn’t that now your savings?
The rich stay rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then the poor stay poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the rich
Such a good effort by you both. You are adding so much value in your content as compared to other YT channels which have shifted gears on being Canadian lifestyle vloggers than being informative. Of course I love your vlogs too, but you’ve got the balance. 😉

This is the best video I have come across to! Thanks a lot for sharing these information. I am hoping to get more videos on this. Also, this video has forced me to subscribe your channel. You guys rock!
Good job on explaining things in Simple terms. One advice for all investors is the power of compounding. Which means the sooner you start investing the more time your money will have to grow. So whatever you do - do not procrastinate and start investing ASAP. Give as much time to your money to grow as you can. 6% return on 1000 is 60 and 6% return in 10000 is 600. So as your money grows the same interest rate returns more money which adds to the principal which returns even more money. It’s similar to snowball which keeps collecting more snow and growing and growing as it rolls down a hill. The bigger it gets the more snow it collects. That’s a simple concept which everyone needs to understand / and fast.
Well done guys!! Yehi yehi topicss aurr..do make videos on these topics . Investments in canada, Investment suggestions on regular intervals laate rha karo.
Amazing information! I wish I had this when I moved to Canada a decade ago. I do the exact same with Questrade and ETFs. One thing to note is that they still charge ECN fees, but even that may be avoided by adding liquidity instead of removing it. The ECN amount is inconsequential though unless you are buying a lot of stocks at the same time.
Also, REIT dividend is more not because Canadian real estate increases (though that might be a smaller reason) but because REIT's pay 90% of their profits and only keep a small amount to reinvest back into their own company. Hence, dividends appear more but the growth is also smaller.
you mentioned ETF on questtrade...so you just manually place market/limit order monthly on a specific date for the etf's you mentioned in your video as there is not an automated option to do that.
Remember excessive trading can still be subject to tax under certain circumstances even in a TFSA as determined by CRA. Also, if you invest in TFSA in US stocks then as per treaty between US and Canada, there is a 15% non resident withholding tax on income from dividends (Not taxed in your hands) even in a TFSA. I would like to point out that just because the TFSA contribution limit has been $6K in 2019 & 2020 it does not mean it will be $6K in 2021 also. It can change each year and in one odd year was $10K. It was $5500 in 2018 . If anyone in the year 2009 who was eligible and has not invested a single penny in a TFSA till date as I type this can go ahead and put in $69,500 in their TFSA today. Over contribution is subject to 1% per month penalty charged to the amount over contributed. Remember one more thing not all investments qualify for TFSA and CRA will penalize if you make investments in OTC stocks or penny stocks not listed on a regulated stock exchange. You can buy GIC, Mutual Funds, ETF, Bonds, Stocks, Gold and Silver Certificates, T- Bills in a TFSA trading account. There are brokerages that charge less than $5 as brokerage even amongst the top 5 banks in Canada. Lastly, you can also trade in Options market in a TFSA trading account. Your videos are quality. Thanks 🙏
Hi Neeraj, I have couple of questions. 1) If I earn 5k a month and invest $500 in TFSA and $500 in RRSP. Will I be taxed on $4k? 2) I am moving on PR to Canada next month and plan to open TFSA account. So I have Aug to Dec to invest approx. $6k in TFSA. Do I also have the contribution limit for the previous years I didn't invest from the age of 18? Thank you
@@mustafahussain2416 TFSA and RRSP are tax sheltered registered accounts. Your income inside these accounts is not taxed. There are exceptions if you buy securities ineligible for trading in a registered account which is one exception of course. In a RRSP if you withdraw funds after selling, then there is withholding tax at source depending on the amount and province you live in. But no capital gains on buying or selling inside these accounts. Also, your contribution room starts from the day you become resident of Canada and does not accrue since 18 because you were not a resident before. I recommend you also call CRA once you land and get your SIN number for the exact contribution room
You guys r super intellegent..i just fond of ur intelligence...i watch all ur videos from starting..amazing work guys...keep smiling guys n stay healthy..

seems like you opened a pandora's box for me. I was thinking of researching these myself but maybe next year when I move north. Now that you have sparked my interest: - I get that earnings are tax free, but the money you put in is before tax or after-tax ? Looks like its after tax based on your numbers. - Do companies also contribute some money to your TFSA account? Like 401k in US ? - have you explored robo investing services? like wealth simple. - If you are just investing in ETFs /MFs, any reason why you are not investing directly with Vanguard rather than going through a broker ? - can you invest in an S&P 500 index like VFIAX ( or its etf version VOO ) ? Isn't S&P 500 index better than canadian indexes?
Most of these questions are a seperate video itself.. hard to answer here.. But this one is after tax money (like Roth IRA) and 401 equivalent is RRSP.
