That is a fantastic idea! I would love to watch something like that, I especially love your idea of videoing people finding it and giving them an opportunity to meet you and talk to you for a bit. What a fantastic treat. I wish I was local, but I’m in the US. I know it’s not your goal, but a nice little side effect is you probably will increase your local viewership😉
If there are any plant swaps in the area you should just show up unannounced and give some away. There they are prob going to people who at least care about plants and could even be followers, and it's a good chance to film plants other people have too!
I am from Austria and I love the idea!! Of course it is unfortunate, that only people from or around Sydney can participate, but honestly, this could even form a plant group, if the winners contacted each other. Its a great opportunity to have local people get in contact with each other over plants :) ❤
Although I don't live near Sydney, I still think that would be fun! It could be timed like the first clue and plant meetup could be from 10-11:30am at one location. Then, the next clue and plant meetup could happen from 1pm-2:30pm at another location. You can set the time limit to whatever you think is reasonable and announce the schedule ahead of time for the clues and plant meetups. That way people can plan and aim for a time that works best for them and wait for the clue to drop for that specific time. Also, you can make the plants more hidden, so random bystanders would less likely come across them. You can even work with your favorite local businesses by having them participate and hold onto the plants. This would also allow you to more easily set up cameras ahead of time, hang out with them while you wait, and promote their business in the process 🙂
@ I understand that but I also feel that it would be so worth the hardwork. A lot of us appreciate SPG and will make sure it’s beneficial for him and his followers
Just imagine being able to say I go this plant from SPG. I feel like he’s a brand name Already from his work of showing us how to care for our Babies and his personality and love for his followings
Love this idea! I’d add in a riddle, a relatively easy riddle, as to the plants location. I think you’ll have lots of participation. Remember, the number of hunters will essentially remain the same (less one each time.) And to avoid random strangers picking up the plant, tuck it in among other plants. That way there’s some extra hunting fun at the final location. Can’t wait to watch!👀
I live in Houston, TX and I absolutely love your idea. I would love to see that video. Honestly, I don't think you'll have any problem having participants for your treasure hunt we all love you. Wish I could be there. I'll just live vicariously through the locals. Happy findings!
I live in Austin, Texas. Oh well. Lol! But I seriously think you will have no problem with your plant give away! It's gonna work! I love this idea! This is a wonderful idea.
I think this is a brilliant idea! Yes, people will come. How about this- You can do a livestream at the meetup and give people a few days notice via a video on here when and where you will be somewhere. Since you are working within one city, this should work easily if you give people a two hour time frame to meet you. What would also be fun is the winners sending a video of them before and after the meetup and put it all in a video. Giving people a date and time can give people from other parts of that part of Australia to have a chance, too. I would call this a....Rando Meet Up Plant Give Away and 7 Questions with SPG. Okay- that needs work. What I would also plan for is (potentially) travelling within Queensland (or other places) to do this. I think people would absolutely love this- on both sides of the camera.
It's a great idea. If I lived in Australia I would have definitely gone on a "Crazy rubbish" hunt. Instead I'd love to watch how the plants get found, maybe with a year update, like "show your baby's growth" or similar. The plant swap is also awesome. I'd love to see what is on offer locally in Sydney (as opposed to locally in Munich, Gemany).
I live in Bathurst and I would very much be very interested in one of your babies that you have created ❤. I would 100% travel to Sydney for this. as I’m 2 1/2 to 3 hours away I think I commented a few months ago about my interest in one of them 😊
How ingenious! Like “Where’s Waldo “ I would give your community a bit of notice and let the hunt begin! So exciting and it would be really kool if your followers participating could video themselves trying to get their plants first! Fun times and I hope it catches on in the US as well! Lots of love ❤️ Ginger
Not me wishing I lived in Sydney... But here I am in the US and it's getting cold. When I was 10 years old I published a children's book at my school. It was about my "visit to the Outback" even though I'd never been 😁 my imagination was wild as a wrote about meeting a kangaroo who's name was "Joey" lol and the adventure's I went on... I wrote about the beautiful landscape and tropical foliage. Even as a child somehow I knew deep down I'd grow up and be a collector of plants 😊
I think it's a fun idea 🤩 Beeing over here in Germany I certainly won't be able to participate but I'm looking forward to watch the content about the Sydney-Plant-Hunt 🌿🌱😄 Maybe print out little labels with the name of the plant, care instructions and your social media chanels to go with the plant?
Giving away so many plants is so kind of you! Such a lovely gesture 🥰 I'm from Portugal and I would love to have a chance to participate in something like that. Please go ahead and do it (on the weekend), I'm sure people will show up... and record the process, please! So I can feel a little bit part of it (while wishing I could be there too). If you are unsure if Instagram engagement wouldn't be enough advertisement for the Treasure Hunt, do it on YT a few days prior also. Or go live while placing the plants so that your Instagram followers also get a notification.
not in australia (sadly) I think it´s a fun idea, and you can definitively set a time, like only waiting 1 hour or so, something realistic to how long it takes to get to that location. Then you can announce the day in advance, so that people who are interested know to have a look at your instagram that day. Even just a rough announcement like in the next few days could help. I also don´t think you have to hide, just sit a the location with the plant, have a coffe and wait, I´m sure people will show up to get a plant and a chat with you, I definitely would. I hope some people do a fun setup with it, embracing the ´crazy rubbish´ name, like fun pots or name tags. plant swap sounds also fun, I´m sure people would show up. I would do both, more content and more fun.
I'm in France, I think if I was in AU I would definitely try to participate, and, if the participant you meet are down to film themselves on the hunt and give your their video rush, you could make an absolutely amazing video !
What about posting on plant groups on Facebook and other platforms? Get other plant people there to share it and get in on the action. Maybe do it over a few days or a couple weekends? Sounds like a lot but if you want to film each one, it would probably have to be a full weekend, like 3-4 plants one day and a few the next day. But definitely get plant people together and set a date or dates for when you'll do the scavenger hunt. Viewing from Tempe AZ USA and it would be nice to see Sydney from your POV 😁
I would enjoy watching it as I live in Canada. Maybe you could ask who would like to participate in advance, make a mailing list or chat group of some sort and send pics with clues to the people you already know want to play the game?
Mate, thats an awesome idea. I would've loved to go hunting around Sydney. Unfortunately, I just moved from Sydney 6 months ago. But, hope everyone has fun with it in Sydney!
I would participate. Great idea. You could leave 'green tickets' instead of the actual plant, then give a location for winners to attend. Then it would be a meet and greet you could film.
Of course people would join in! Great for Sydney - siders, but I would watch and enjoy it for sure. I think you might get noticed planting them in the spots...still be exciting for them., and fun to see you sprung🤣. Put them out in the really early dawn or something. Go for it!
I love your idea of a scavenger hunt for crazy rubish! What a hoot, set up cameras for those of us who aren’t aussies!! Guess you won’t know unless you try! Post they’ve got 2 hours to get it, so you’re not sitting there all day, then if it’s not picked up, try again later when it suits you? Start with the small ones. I don’t go onto insta as much as I should mostly just here on yt Is it a pop-up giveaway? With a meet and greet? Free plant chase? There’s no way I could afford tree fern fibre from here in Canada, lechuza pon is extremely hard to get ahold of too, but I’m happy with my substrate mixes as is I shake my pots water out too 😂
I like all your ideas wish I was in Australia so I could play! I use to play a game similar here but with painted rocks . I would leave them in random spots like window sills by business doors and at the beach gathering areas… If I found 1 I’d make. A few more and re gift them ! It was fun!!
You could do a post/video saying " If you know where this is, I will be here at such and such date and time and first to get here gets this plant!" And only show where but not tell, as in they have to find it out.
Maybe if you set a time table where people can find the plants and announce ahead of time and post reminders too. Like you will be hiding ple plants between 2 times and the date. You can also ask people to record themselves finding them and set up a meet up place at a park or somewhere at the end so you can meet all the lucky winners and answer questions.
This is such a fun idea!! I am so disappointed that I don’t live in Sydney!! Even though I can’t participate I would have fun watching it! I wish I could have one of your hybrids!!
Those of us who really follow you get alerts for youtube / insta posts and would see it. How many of those are in Sydney and able to show up at the right time might be the question like you said. I would love to be a part of it but I'm a little far away and work would probably stop me. I would definitely watch the video though. Ask AJ to hang out for the day to keep you company :)
I‘m from germany and since there is no chance to participate, I‘d love to see a video about it! Maybe you could hide some cameras or so… I want to watch jealously from far away😂 Also, always love your videos and I‘m so glad your co-star 🐈 seems to love the camera 😍😄
I do not live near you however I think this is a brilliant idea. You could actually do it like a scavenger hunt. Have people actually sign up to meet you in one area you already had the plants set you didn’t give them a map to go find them the faster one wins the plant.
Also, an idea if you want to involve all Australian fans.. still do a Crazy Rubbish hunt video. But then ask all AU viewers to submit an entry to a draw to buy/cover postage for one.. but ask the winners to keep you posted on the growth based on the growing conditions in different parts of Australia. Could be a future video on the bebes 😁😁
there are 2 issues with this idea 1) I don't live in Sydney 2) I don't have Instagram 😆🤔 but besides that it sounds like fun, for me it would be worth heaps because it's a part of your collection. Maybe you could call it SPG's Crazy Rubbish Retrieval, anyway look forward to watching it all when it happens 🙂🦦
Hey I think it’s a great idea. I understand your worries, and I think the best way to go forward is just to try it and see. But be prepared. Perhaps bring a few extra plants w you in case if the one you left was unintentionally picked up or worse some punk comes along and destroy it. Or got cleaned up by the rubbish crew (crazy rubbish). Or a squirrel came along and took a big chunk. So yeah even if it’s not “genuine” have some spares w you. PS when you showed the artist’s rubbish bin I thought you were thinking of chucking the crazy rubbish in a bin for display 😂
Not on topic, but I was wondering how your Monstera subpinnata is doing? Mine is growing like crazy, but it never seems to mature? I mean, the leaves stay small, but I'm not even sure what the mature form looks like (if it even exists lol). What's your experience?
Love the idea of a scavenger hunt - can't participate as I'm in Perth. Maybe ask people to film their hunt, including disappointment if they miss out. Possibly call it Crazy Hunt
Jan, there is an expression in the states called" paying it forward". (Based on a wonderful movie by the same name). Anyway....what you're planning IS paying it forward. It initially introduces society to do something kind without asking anything in return. Once you decide your game-plan, why not inform the same media that visited you at home? It would get the word out and reach more in Sydney and possibly introduce others to "pay it forward" 😊
You vould announce on youtube the days/a schedule and then people can be prepared to be in Sydney if they are from the outskirts. More players that way!
Yippee!! A scavenger hunt - I love them - only problem is, Jan, you would have to give me at least a week's notice as I would have to push my wheelie-walker all the way from near Warrnambool in south west Victoria. My Jack Russell loves hunting as well, so perhaps Bradley would have to go into hiding. Now as for plant swapping, would you consider swapping a cactus for one of those lush tropical plants of yours as that would probably be the only thing alive after a couple of weeks on the road? My mind is running away with what antics I could get up to with my wheelie walker that I am going to have to lie down now from exhaustion. Good luck, Jan, with whatever you decide to do.
Seeing your phone makes me laugh because that is what mine looks like when planting. I use it during my watering since my app tells me what plants to water I am always touching it. Also, I use mine for my filming so dirt always gets on it. 😅
I feel like maybe doing a youtube video a week in advance giving the day and a rough time frame, aswell as a general area might be an idea? And then do the insta stories tiktoks and youtube shorts too? Because I think thats a wonderful idea, and Id love for the giveaway chase to work. I also imagine you staying there and waiting for somebody to pick it up might be the cause of some complications. You could set up a mini giveaway but only give out 5 plants per stop and then move on? People who may have shown up right past the 5 plant limit would have to chase you and if you rememebr their faces they get one "reserved" for them at the next spot as long as they show up within 90mins or something?
I love this idea!!! 💚 I live in Cairns Far North QLD and if we get a bit of notice, I would pop down to join in! Or if not, I would love to buy one if you ever have any babies you want to get rid of. 😁 Anthurium love the tropical conditions up here. 💚🌱
Your viewers abroad would love to watch it! If you pick weekends I'm sure people will be available to show up
That would be amazing! 🥰
Watching you create hybrids while I struggle to keep spider mites off my clarinervium is both soothing and jealousy inducing lol
Never had good luck with clarinerviums! Maybe try magnificums or crystallinums :)

Great ideas :) thank you !
I wish you would reconsider and sell internationally. We all would love a piece of you in our homes meaningful plants that you grow
Unfortunately, as we live in Australia with the bio security, it’s a lot harder to do so :/.
@ I understand that but I also feel that it would be so worth the hardwork. A lot of us appreciate SPG and will make sure it’s beneficial for him and his followers
@ it’s very hard and possibly could be expensive, I don’t understand people internationally would love it however it’s just a bit too hard
Just imagine being able to say I go this plant from SPG. I feel like he’s a brand name Already from his work of showing us how to care for our Babies and his personality and love for his followings
@@Plantingindahood I definitely understand. :-). That’s what I feel when I’m watching plant channels from America etc.
This is such a fun idea and yessss! I'm running already 🏃🏻♂️
If you do this , suggest do POV from the hunters to include in your video too 😄
Love this idea! I’d add in a riddle, a relatively easy riddle, as to the plants location. I think you’ll have lots of participation. Remember, the number of hunters will essentially remain the same (less one each time.)

Hey! I love here too! Well kingwood. I just moved here from Buffalo-if you need a plant friend hit a sister up lol
Love all your videos! Look forward to learning, watching and just feeling like I’m not alone in my tropical plant obsession 😊
Thank you:)
Lucky local mates…sharing the love will make great content
Thanks :)
Im nosey and enjoy watching others have fun so yeah do it and make a video😆
Also love your idea.
Wish you were in Melbourne though, I'd love to find one 😊
But I'd still enjoy watching other lucky people win🎉
Thanks :)
Wow, am I the only person who saw some bonus contents? Keep up the great work.
Thanks :)

Where is Waldo’s Plants? Like your suggestion.
I’m in Sydney. I like the scavenger hunt idea but have enough crystallinum 😂 so I vote for the plant swap to also meet other plant lovers in the area.
What a fun idea of leave your give away plants around Sydney! I can’t wait to watch the video of this “scavenger” hunt!
Not me wishing I lived in Sydney... But here I am in the US and it's getting cold. When I was 10 years old I published a children's book at my school. These is a plant shop in the uk that does this laces plants in locations a takes pictures. I think it’s a beautiful idea
I love the idea - wish we were in Sydney to participate!
Personally I would love to watch it! Wish I lived there so I could try and get one!

So true :) thanks !:)
💖💖💖Wow that anthurium is gorgeous!
Cheers :)
I would enjoy watching it as I live in Canada. Maybe you could ask who would like to participate in advance, make a mailing list or chat group of some sort and send pics with clues to the people you already know want to play the game?
great idea :)
Sounds like a really fun idea. I look forward to watching it unfold from our white Winter landscape in Alberta Canada. :)
Mate, thats an awesome idea. I would've loved to go hunting around Sydney. Unfortunately, I just moved from Sydney 6 months ago. But, hope everyone has fun with it in Sydney!
From the US but would definitely watch! Such a fun thing , wish I was there to participate!
Thanks :)
I would participate. Great idea. You could leave 'green tickets' instead of the actual plant, then give a location for winners to attend. Then it would be a meet and greet you could film.
Even though I’m not in Australia this would be so fun to participate in and watch!
Scavenger hunt sounds fun!!! I will try even though I don’t live in the city area!
I wish I still lived in Australia to participate! Love the ideas!
This is a great idea! I would love to watch!

Jan, I am in the states and would definitely watch you interact with your Sydney peeps. Hopefully it works out!
Wow just love the shape of theses anthuriums . Since watching u I have become obsessed with anthuriums!
sounds like I'm a good influence hehe :P
It's a great idea and fun.
I’m from America. Definitely a good idea. You should do it.
Thanks :)
Im in Florida but I definitely would watch !!!
Not from Sydney but I think this is an awesome idea. How cool that they would get to meet you also!
Thanks :)
I would so be there ! If I didn't live in Adelaide 😆
I’m in Adelaide as well.😟
@@pudik2008me too
PS. Heck yeah! I'd like to watch something like this.
I would love your crazy rubbish plants!!!! I’ll be there in spirit!
I wish I close to Australia 🇦🇺 to be apart of that 😊. My baby crystallium is growing still in winter in USA and I have to repot her now.
I love your idea of a scavenger hunt for crazy rubish! What a hoot, set up cameras for those of us who aren’t aussies!! Guess you won’t know unless you try! Is it a pop-up giveaway? With a meet and greet? Free plant chase?
There’s no way I could afford tree fern fibre from here in Canada, lechuza pon is extremely hard to get ahold of too, but I’m happy with my substrate mixes as is
I shake my pots water out too 😂
I like all your ideas wish I was in Australia so I could play!
I use to play a game similar here but with painted rocks .
I would leave them in random spots like window sills by business doors and at the beach gathering areas…
If I found 1 I’d make. A few more and re gift them ! It was fun!!
that's nice :) suppose a bit easier with rocks as they are much easier to keep alive :D haha
Love the idea and wish I was there to do the hunt!!!
I love this idea. People need to do it more. Like paying it forward 🫶🫶
Yes to the anthurium hunt, I can't participate but I'll definitely watch sounds like great fun.
You could do a post/video saying " If you know where this is, I will be here at such and such date and time and first to get here gets this plant!" And only show where but not tell, as in they have to find it out.
You just gave me an idea for a makeshift humidity dome for my anthuriums if I needed it because I don’t have an ikea cabinet.
Great idea - will be so much fun 😉😂😂👍👍
I love your idea. I’m rarely on instagram, but I’d love to see videos of your rubbish hunt give aways!
I would participate if I could. My only suggestion is to add the time, or rather say morning or afternoon. Sounds like fun!!
Oh yeah for sure :) gonna give plenty of heads up :)
I love the idea, I'll watch
Maybe if you set a time table where people can find the plants and announce ahead of time and post reminders too. Like you will be hiding ple plants between 2 times and the date. You can also ask people to record themselves finding them and set up a meet up place at a park or somewhere at the end so you can meet all the lucky winners and answer questions.
Sounds like fun ❤
How much tree fern fiber do you use ratio-wise to your regular mix for anthuriums? 1:3? 1:1? Looking forward to the fun 😀
I'd love to watch such SPG-Urban-Plant-Hunt videos 🪴🪴
Oh I love the sound of Urban Plant Hunt !!:)
Omg sounds like fun! I would love to watch it.

I‘m from germany and since there is no chance to participate, I‘d love to see a video about it! Maybe you could hide some cameras or so… I want to watch jealously from far away😂
Also, always love your videos and I‘m so glad your co-star 🐈 seems to love the camera 😍😄
I do not live near you however I think this is a brilliant idea. You could actually do it like a scavenger hunt. Have people actually sign up to meet you in one area you already had the plants set you didn’t give them a map to go find them the faster one wins the plant.
OHHH good idea!! I like it :)
Also "the plant chase" is a good name
I like it !!
GREAT IDEA!

I would love to join, but I’m in Norway… I still think it’s a really fun idea! And would love to watch the content you create with it:)
How about a seed giveaway for your interstate viewers? 😢
Will defs give a heads up :)
I do not live near you however I think this is a brilliant idea.
Hehe love your attitude :) I'm sure it'll work out well in the end :)
Seeing your phone makes me laugh because that is what mine looks like when planting. I use it during my watering since my app tells me what plants to water I am always touching it. Also, I use mine for my filming so dirt always gets on it. 😅
Great idea, let's call it 'Get the crazy rubbiss' 🥳🥳🥳
Ah i would love a cutting and see how the south african air would be to a cutting.
Of course it’ll be interesting to watch, such a pity i don’t live in Australia
The greatest idea!! ❤
Thanks a lot)
Thanks :)
I love this idea!!! 💚 I live in Cairns Far North QLD and if we get a bit of notice, I would pop down to join in!
Or if not, I would love to buy one if you ever have any babies you want to get rid of. 😁 Anthurium love the tropical conditions up here. 💚🌱
Oh i don’t think it’ll be wirth the flight down 🫣🫣 but thank you:)
