Very well made units mine is a S681U Equator II. Easy to change wick just rotate Counter-clockwise until tab up from latch then pull knob out to release wick holder collapse wick inwardly from pins reverse with new wick. It took me 2 tries to adjust wick height corectly 3/8inch exposed when fully to right knob
How does the wick cleaner work Sir ?? Does it use a angled cutter teeth or wire brush to clean the wick ?? Do they still make this blue flame heater ??? Great video for sure. Now all I have to do is find one !!!😶😶😶😶😶😶😶
Rotate the disk-like wick cleaner, black carbon will come through the three holes. That's enough for maintenance. The wick must be kept shaped at the correct angle so I just use the wick cleaner. Aladdin heaters are still sold today in Japan :)
There are a couple of safety tips for kerosene heaters, but they’re good for indoor and outdoor use :) Kerosene heaters don’t require electricity in case of a disaster.
It was an accessory. You can find the wick trimmer itself on Japanese online marketplace called Rakuten but I'm not sure international shipping is available :(
@@slowliving55 Hi there. I found one on eBay. I have a vintage Valor heater so it’s different to your one. I bought the correct cleaner for my heater though. Does it also trim the wick, as my wick has been cut at an angle that isn’t square. I can’t find any videos on UA-cam showing you how to trim the wick, and I don’t want to make it worse. Do you ever need to trim yours?
@@HarveyJohnWillmott Trimmed wicks make for an even blue flame so I try to trim with the cleaner once a month. I think it depends on how often do you use your heater. Actually Aladdin heater is not my main heating source, I also use central heating system during the winter.

My Aladdin still has original wick. Changing the wick, which seems to be an interesting task :)

We had several older style ones when I was very young, but now that paraffin is up around £7 a gallon it isn't economical in the UK anymore.

Aladdin heaters haven't changed much in 50 years. I maintained the wick to keep a blue flame but nothing near as good as your level of maintenance!
