    Anna! She’s fabulous. It is amazing in this world of the Internet how we can get to know people for years and never actually meet them in person. This is a very small company that serves a very focused niche. It has incredible support and service. So does Monimoto which makes theft alarms for motorcycles. I keep a motorcycle in the United States and one in France. No matter where I am I know exactly where my motorcycle is and if it’s disturbed or moved at all I can see on a GPS chart where it is in real time. If you have a question they answer it immediately with their real names just like Anna at this company. It is such a pleasure to deal with companies that are so focused on their cli😂ents.

    Inner bag ripped, metal backing plate bent. Doesn’t sound like a quality piece of kit. I’m glad I ended up with the Kriega OS panniers.

      To be honest the bag ripping was my fault and the plate bending was probably me as well not fully working out how it all worked. Having just finished a 19 day trip to Croatia without incident and no problems I’m loving them even more. As for the quality they are top class. The after sales is very professional and quick, unlike so many other proprietary companies. Ride safe

    Sorry, but as you said it's a bit of a faff.
    New bags and not cheap, you shouldn't have had those issues.
    I have LR stuff but those seem difficult to use.

    Got my bags just in and installed on the GS, I was amazed how rugged a well build they are, almost feel like they are bulletproof! They fitted right on the OEM pannier racks and NOT moving at all. I tested them by going to the store and got them loaded up with a week of provisions, even then there fits a small child in it 😝 Yeah I'm impressed and gonna stay for quite some time I guess👌

    Teapot One did an in-depth fitting video for the normal GS1250. It's a year old but worth a look if you just have the GS. Theses things are pricey but on par with aluminium versions.

    Too much hassle if you ask me, I will stick to hard panniers on my R1250GS

    What a load of faffing around. They are as bad as the ugly overpriced metal boxes that are so trendy with the adventure brigade. A decent set of Givi plastic side openers are easy to load and waterproof. The old E36 panniers were as tough as any pannier out there and would pop back into shape if dented.

    roll the top of your bag outwards 1 or 2 times and it will stay open and be lower.

    I tour three to five months per year. I carry three pairs of socks, underwear, tee shirts and one sleeved button shirt and two pairs of pants. The underwear and tees are Klim high tech and can dry completely over night. I was them in my hotel room sink. Oh. I carry low profile sneakers. I keep these and my cables, iPad, and Dopp kit in the small bag and I only bring into the hotel this bag. In the big bag I can carry camping gear. I have a huge top case and a normal smaller one. I use these for my wife if she comes along. I also have a large tank bag. I have in France Touratech panniers on a Yamaha T700. I ride it in mountains and deserts and off road and I’ve fallen numerous times and the aluminum bags and rack have held up surprisingly well but are now bent and not really watertight although no water seems to get in! The bike in the USA is exactly what you have in this video and it came with BMW branded panniers made by Touratech but made flimsier. I have never fallen on this bike but I am certain these panniers and rack would not hold up as well as the Touratech branded bags on my French bike. There are two good things about hard panniers. The first is that they are incredibly easy to load if you buy a liner. It’s just a soft sac you leave the panniers on the bike and you just take the soft inner lining. And then you bring it back to the bike and just drop it into the panniers. Second, hard panniers are much more resistant to vandalism and theft in the soft bags. Yet I’d rather have the soft bags because in a low speed fall (which is what we are talking about…we are not competing in the TT) they do absorb more impact without damage. I just cannot bring myself to buy these bags until my existing aluminum ones wet the bed. But I want to buy them! If only to support a company as fine as this.

      Drop your bike and there’s a good chance your hard case will deform and then the lid won’t close properly anymore and thus the case will not be waterproof anymore. They also have the potential of snapping your leg if your not careful when stopping the bike.
      I’ve dropped my bike twice (don’t ask how 😉) on the same side with Kriega OS soft luggage on an SW-Motech rack: no damage whatsoever on the bag or the rack. In fact, the soft bag cushioned the drop in both cases.

    • @markholroyd5365
      @markholroyd5365 2 роки тому +1

      You are right but that would be a hassle having to unlock it and remove it, especially if you are inherently lazy like me. Complaining about the height of the bag is a real small issue in the big scheme of things and being brutally honest they are so well made there is not much wrong with them… I love them! Ride safe
