How to Reach Ghost Town - In GTA3 there is an area called Ghost Town where the first part of the game introduction takes place. The developers have placed this area behind the hills of Shoreside Vale and it's not solid, just a texture group.
This video shows three different ways to reach the city.

then why is the dodo in the game, and why can you fly it, and why does is say "you've flown for x amount of seconds" whenever you fly it, and why is the dodo on the import export garage
Of course they put it in , they didn't let you manage to fly the other air transporters due to 9/11 , the only plane that was left was the iconic 'Dodo'. They cut of the wings and that explains why'd it always be hard to fly it.
9/11 had a accident at the airport leading to all the coincidences about the planes.
In GTA 3,you were never meant to fly. Same thing with LCS. Cause if you do,youll realise why Rockstar wanted to keep you grounded.That's why they cut dodo's wings off.

Spent many nights as a boy driving myself crazy trying to get behind the Observatory to the Ghost Town. It wasn't until I was an adult that I figured out how to handle the Dodo and I finally did it! It was one of the greatest moments of my life. Of course it was short lived as I crashed it almost immediately. Lol. This game had so many twists and turns. So complex yet so simple. Dan and Sam Houser are masters of their trade. Thank you for the wonderful memories!

Part of the wider Liberty City, it's where the closed tunnel would lead.

@@forgottenronin995 you know, we could actually take that further and say Liberty City Bank is just the name. Like New York Life or Mutual of Omaha. It doesn't necessarily have to be in the city. Rather it's just in upstate Liberty. And maybe that's already how it is. Because that always bothered me too. We never see that particular street in Liberty City. And I'm pretty sure Liberty is the actual name of the state like San Andreas and how Vice City is part of Florida. That's it. That's my head canon. It's upstate Liberty.

Move all files inside the directory data\maps, then make a backup copy of the file gta3.dat. Open the gta3.dat with notepad or something like that and insert the 6 COLFILE 3 lines - remove the sentence (fra i colfile3) - and the 1 IPL line - remove the sentence (fra gli ipl) - where you see others COLFILE 3 and IPL lines inside the gta3.dat.
Maria didn't betrayed Claude however Catalina did
love how the Tank + Dodo cheat is a method of flying to this god forsaken place. I independently discovered how to fly but never thought about exploring the boundaries. Although I did reach the two other city;s across the broken bridge before you progressed with the story lol Cars did manage to spawn so it was nice to immediately enter the three maps if I played at a friends house without a memory card

It's not a fucking mod omg lol Just spawn a tank using a cheat and activate the Dodo cheat. Turn the turret around and shoot it to gain momentum, eventually gaining glide/flight capability. I discovered this when I was 7 lmao
I remember as a kid using cheats to fly over destroyed bridges, I needed a fast vehicle so I tried the tank as in the video and I was shocked it was even better at flying then the dodo
R.I.P. Ghost Town (2001-2021)
In The Definitive Edition of Grand Theft Auto III, the area only spawns during the Introduction cutscene, and can no longer be found during normal gameplay.
Why did they scrap it in the definitive edition??

For some reason the hills above the Cedar Grove Tunnel leads me towards the Shoreside Vale's observatory then behinds the observatory I can see the Ghost Town and I walk towards it glitches out. Like I'm walking on a invisible road heading towards the Ghost Town

I love the eerieness of The 3D Universe
Some game developers called the Ghost Town as Lower Liberty. This small town is known to be a deliberate mistake in the game. If this town would be included in 2001 of the game, then it would certainly not be located on the map behind the Upstate Tunnels. Unfortunately, one can forget that this map will ever be part of the possible future re-releases of GTA III.
Why didnt rockstar include this location in the original gameplay? Its awesome.
well I think rockstar just wanted it as the intro not really a real location which sucks because it would have been cool to have area in the game

This game came out in October 2001 9/11 happened a month before, a mission involved crashing the Dodo into Donald Love's building but was cut due to the 9/11 attacks so no, he didn't play before.

Huh. I managed to figure out the Dodo myself after quite some time, and then when I first found the ghost town, I thought I somehow ended up back in Staunton Island (lol). Then I saw this great video and everything made sense. Thanks!

Oh I remember that place, I got near it with a dodo and the tank trick, which I accidentally stumbled across by myself waaay back, hehe, it was fun as hell. And as I remember, somewhere there, there should be text on the water or something that is only visible on the mini map, I don't remember what it said though, was so many years ago.

I'm still learning to balance the dodo in flight, but i can help everybody to get up off the ground, (balancing a different story.) Hold your left analog stick forward until the nose of the plane is about to scratch the ground, like what this guy does above, then just let go, don't pull the analog stick down, because you want to stay up in the air. Once you do that, from what i understand, is whem you want to go higher, you keep tipping the nose of the forward, and it'll look like you are going back down (me still trying to balance it, i'm still having a bit trouble with, better but not a pro yet.) When you start going back down, rinse & repeat, hold the planes nose forward (left analog stick) then let go again, you'll fly higher. That or watch this youtuber's video he recommended, or just WIKI search dodo planes GTA III, that'll teach you

Hey GTA series videos i have a question for u. When i hit the road of ghost town by dodo it spawned me at cedar growf why???
because you went there by flying a dodo instead of using mods and without mods the roads are only textures and that's why you fell into the blue hell and got teleported to cedar grove.
can i say if the Dodo plane looks silly because of the wings ? I mean logicly other games like gta vice city gta 5 Dodo plane looks more logical but can even a plane fly with short wings ?

theres 4 methods - use open tunnels mod and you will be able to enter ghost town and it adds textures to observatory and makes few buildings so ghost town cant be lonely
