A Day In The Life of a Driver FINAL
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 чер 2016
- This video can help to acquaint potential drivers to the industry and what their day-to-day roles and responsibilities will be. This video is especially helpful for potential drivers to view during an interview so that they can fully understand the benefits of being a driver for the ready mixed concrete industry.
Truck are mostly automatics today. There’s a few companies that have manuals and that just fine. What’s not cool is driving a 20 yr old 5 Speed Mack Truck. There’s no reason a big company in the Nations Capital still runs old Macks. I just left a good paying job for throwing me in an old 5spd Mack. I’m not fuking with a heavy clutch at my age when automatics are the trucks of choice today. The days of driving crap as the new employee is over. I returned to concrete after leaving in 2008. Good luck and stay safe operators.
I'VE BEEN DRIVING READY MIX FOR 21 YEARS IN LOS ANGELES THE PUBLIC HAS NO CLUE WHAT WE DO
I bet
Very proud of my brother today as he started his new job as a Concrete Lorry Driver. Been told he is already mixing in well with the others.
Mixing in well 🤣 nice
Like it when they showed that curb machine, my mixer is a fully automatic and works great at these jobs done from inside the truck. Sounds just like our company. Love working where I am at.
Lol talking to his boss while on the number pad 💀🤣
I helped a recent employee understand how many of they opportunities there were out there. I’m he was gone in two weeks. It is satisfying helping people find better jobs.
Use to be a mixer i don't think it paid enough for what you have to do, an inconsistent hours might come at 3 in the morning like come in at 5 in the morning
I work as a mixer driver. Pay attention and follow instructions you should be ok
Victor Hernandez had a question how many gears are these mixers? I’m looking for a job like this but I have no experience and it’s hard so I’m looking for how to videosbon this thanks...
They're usually 8 speed. I work for a company out of AZ.
@@MartyrMachine yup me too bro. 8 speed but we also have automatics I'm in one right now
When I was doing readymix it was a fleet of Oshkosh manual transmission w/splitter...so when you were discharging crete there was the art of creeping in granny and still be smooth---what I'm saying is I am JEALOUS of you younger guys...you get to have more fun than humping gears all day...but I didn't know no better at the time! Heh!
And what about customers that park their vehicles in the way of the truck- every single time they order mud?
I just started at martin marietta about 4 weeks ago and love it so far!
Lol got shown this exact video at my interview. Got the job waiting for my start date
I drive a 10 speed and curbs n sidewalks are hell on my leg.
My clutch has no grip left just smooth n shiney
👹RMX Driver out of Vancouver based @Kent Avenue. This is a great video, well done. Keep them coming. Cheers👌🏾
I wish my concrete company was as busy as all the other ones. I work Monday-Saturday work 6-8 hours a day. We only get busy July to September then it starts to slow down again. I’m thinking of operating vacuum trailers and tractors.
Been a mixer driver and mechanic for 26 years in Alaska.
That sucks
Drove for 25 years in Southern California. Our Union Company sold out to a non Union company. This was a great job in the 80s- 90s,but that's when there were great chute men and (For the most part) experienced finishers. Plus the batch/dispatchers were Pretty cool. Now it's bullshit with all the regulations and electronic crap. If they didn't hire dipshit drivers in the first place, they could trust drivers to do the right thing. Mixer drivers used to command alot of respect until Robertson's ready mix came on the scene (Late 80s early 90s) non Union funded by Mitsubishi.
Hey
I' m going to back you up with every word ...you are 200% correct about every word . there was a day we were respected
You got that right. I'm a newly retired ready mix Teamsters in the bay area
In your opinion, is driving a mixer a good way to make a living in Southern California?
Memories. Santa FE.. Coppola and Santa Fe concrete.
It slows down quite a bit in the fall/winter. I am the low man at my plant and I was on call a lot not making money last winter. Just a heads up...
25 years in a front discharge mixer
Thank you for sharing! What is the job security like in this field? What are the slow seasons and how much does it slow down during the slow seasons? Thank you.
Really depends on the growth or your city/county
they can add chemicals to speed up or slow down finishing time
I thought I was one in a million. Turns out Im one in 70,000.
my dad had a mixer like like that
I'm from Dublin Ireland and I have worked on concrete pump's for over 20 year's I hate when the mixer driver over fills the Hopper and spills concrete all over and then does not clean it up or when they Try wash there Chute's into the hopper and use to much water and block's the Pump.
I drive a 9 meter concrete truck and when I am finished at the pump I lift my chute up and drive to the washout location. I don't scrape the stones in and I dont add water to thin the mix and plug the pump. Show the pump operator some respect. He's there before you and is there long after you.
@@randy7068 never heard of 9m mixer Where are you in world? Anything on you tube?
How about when the pump operator is running hard and stops the pump without warning and the hopper overfills and blames the driver! Or he keeps pumping and your yelling that your truck is empty and blows up concrete all over the driver and his truck ! Mixer driver 30 yrs seen it all !
Yes Sir
Made me want to join .
This video glamorizes it. It's not that great. Good money, LONG hours, asshole contractors and workers.
I drive your right
Are the chute connections heavy?
Metal is heavier than aluminum chutes of course but not heavy no
Are these truck automati transmission or manual?
Automatic
I just became one of those 70,000
How can I get you when am in Africa.
Am a truck driver here in Uganda.
Go home at end of day and be proud of the jobs you did today lol. Where did you go today? keep thinking it will come.
In 20yrs it will be hard for him to walk also
Why
@@ryantye194 because concrete mixer are the roughest riding trucks on the road.VERY hard on the back
Those chuts look like shit compared to the truck. Only take extra 5 seconds per chute. Anybody else see the safety chain undone without flipover down?
What if you are not that great with driving directions
Then you're boned, but usually Google Maps will at least get you close to the site, then you can always call the customer and ask.
Buy a GPS and stick it to your windshield.
P
People speak English on construction job sites?
Sometimes Portuguese and Italians yell it loudly. its their normal volume.
Haha
Not really, you must be bilingual mi amigo
