Trevi Fountain, Rome, Italy - 1080HD

The Trevi Fountain is one of Rome's most iconic attractions and it's easy to see why so many romances began here or were renewed around this amazing and beautiful structure. The fountain was completed in 1762 but the water that flows through it comes from a Roman aqueduct that dates back to the 1st century BC. Tradition has it that by tossing 3 coins into the fountain you will 1) be assured of returning to Rome, 2) fall in love with an Italian sweetheart, and 3) marry them. Around €3,000 are collected each day and donated to charity. That's a lot of future weddings!

The coin tossing trick certainly worked for me. Not only did I return to Italy, including several months in Rome, but I married my Italian sweetheart. We've been in Ireland for a year, but are returning to Rome next month. Careful with those coins -- they have staying power! ;)

Trevi Fountain is currently undergoing restoration, but is scheduled to be completed in the Fall of 2015.
