Slow Cooker Recipe
I've done your barbacoa recipe so many times through the years and I always love how easy and delicious it is. I've been struggling to cook due to depressing circumstances, so anything with the slow cooker is always a huge deal for me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Brings back memories of my childhood waking up to the scent of homemade barbacoa..served with corn tortillas, a squeeze of lime and a dash of salt and salsa. Yummy!

Simply mama' cooks & Rachel cooks with love my favorite cooking shows!
I like the beef cheeks or the tongue in the crock pot but you can also do it in the oven. Garlic and cominos and salt and pepper is all that's needed. Yummy
Oxtail will probably also work in a crock pot
I have made your recipe for years now, honestly the first one I tried and there was no need to look around for more. Current Houston resident, and this is as good or better as all the places Ie gone.
Thank you for sharing your recipe!
Not only is it delicious, the ingredients are minimal. I make this recipe during birthdays and celebrations and it is always as hit! God bless you
I give it two thumbs up 👍👍👍🥰👍♥️♥️♥️. Look so good and tender and delicious !!! 😋😋😋😋😋. Iv only had this once. Thanks for this easy recipe. 😁
Awesome that’s how I do it as well. My wife also likes me to shred and quick pan sear the barbacoa in a cast iron skillet tender with a few crisp bits for texture just a twist on how she like hers finished off
I love this recipe! I make it all the time for my family (per their request🙂) and everyone loves it! The smell overnight makes everyone hungry for it in the morning.
Hi from KS. ❤ I just started a 3#chuck roast with your parameters. I also added an onion to the salt, pepper, garlic and bay leaves. It's almost four in the morning.
I love all your recipes but I just love barbacoa. Will definitely have to make this. I will be looking for your cookbook, need to have it.
I got mine from Amazon.
That looks insane !!!!! 🤤🤤🤤🤤
This is one of the best information videos I have ever watched. Thank you. 😊😊😊
Im following this 100% being from Houston Texas myself. I cant find barbacoa in Las Vegas thats worth anything. Thank you and that goes for tortillas too !!!
You took me back to a wonderful memory! I would visit family in Indiana, and barboca was ordered for us for breakfast!! I love it!!
☕This looks very delicious.. especially when beef tongue is too pricey. It seems like all our cuts of meat are going up especially now that its made popular.😋
It looks soo yummy!
I searched for a beef cheeks recipe and expected to find a recipe from you and yup! You delivered. While watching this video, I wondered, "why am I not subscribed? I am now subscribed. Thank you for sharing recipes that people can replicate.❤
A masterpiece. One of the greatest dishes
Just ordered your cookbook....I can't wait to get it! 😊
Thank you 💥💥💥 All your recipes are delicious ! ❤❤❤💥🌷
Not only do I love this video, but my cat loves it too at 2:01. My cat said that Baby Cakes must have smelled the barbacoa meat cooking in the crockpot and knew it was time to eat.
Thank you so Simple and save money making it yourself, one of the reasons I would buy it from the store is because I was too hungover to make it😂 over night in a slow cooker is right up my alley! 👍
It’s not fair. It looks so yummy. I’ll have to make it now and wait several more hours. Good job!!
You have such a beautiful home, awesome recipe, thanks 👍👍❤️
Oh my gosh, I will definately give this recipe a try!!!
I am making this, this weekend… Yours looks absolutely fabulous!! 😬👍❤️🇨🇦
Hello, Angelica. Long-time viewer, first-time commenter here. Tried this recipe this morning and I will never buy barbacoa again! Thanks so much for this upload. Simply delicious and easy is what I will say about this recipe.
Great recipe! Me and the family always enjoy this recipe. Been doin this recipe for a few years now. I used to stand in line at the Matamoros meat market on Hooper rd. in Houston Tx when I was a kid.
I remember as a little girl almost every Sunday after church waiting with my dad in line for barbacoa. I actually didn’t like barbacoa because I saw that it was tongue lol However, now I love it! Thanks for the recipe! Can’t wait to make it.
Also in Houston Texas 😊
I'm gonna try it memories from my childhood too thankyou for sharing

You’re lucky, I grew up in a northern state. Back then Mexican food did not exist. When I finally discovered real Mexican food as an adult it changed my life
This this this! This is actually healthy! Especially when you know the family who trespassed the cow😊
I Can’t Wait To Make This.
I’m drooling
Man,, you make us Hungry! 😋😩I’m from SanAntonio & they have the Best Mexican & Tex- Mex food & lots more of it than here in Virginia 🙄🥺So sad. And I love the Big red soda
I grew up on Karams and Mi Tierra!!
Same here! I loved Karem’s! I now live in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas!
@@pamking8137 Ralph Karam was a good friend of my grandfather.
They were both Shriners in SA.
His granddaughter used to babysit me in the mid 70s.
I had my first crispy taco, enchilada, and sopapilla at Karams.
It was an amazing restaurant that I wish still existed.
And they always had the best tamales.
We lived in Alamo Heights and when we went for dinner my folks would always buy a couple dozen.
I've been in Corpus Christi for 24 years.
The barbacoa looks delicious !! Let me know where I can get a copy of the book you showed in this video. Thank you. 🌹🌹🌹
I'm from Dallas living in Connecticut. I miss Tex Mex food soooo much! And it's to find authentic Mexican food up here :(
This looks amazing!
Ooh la la 😋😋😋! So Juicy, So Gelatinous, your Recipe can't be beat 🥰🥰👍👍.
TYFS.
You are a excellent teacher
These look fabulous. Is there another name for beef cheeks? I have never seen that at the butchers or any store. I would like to do exactly what you did, so please tell me what to look for that is also beef cheeks. Thank you.
Thanks so much for your videos.... I have tried this, it is spot on. LOVE IT!!! Perfect just to be so Simple!! I hope I can achieve your tamales videos lol
❤ turned out GREAT 👍 Smaller cooler. More time.... From Houston area, thank you!
I haven’t made this yet but it looks heavenly!!!
Yummy.
Wow! You make fresh tortillas ❤️🙏
Hi. Is there a different type of beef that we can use other than beef cheeks❓Thanks.
Just a suggestion: try getting a skillet heated on medium high to high heat and get a good blister on them before you through them in a crockpot
I don't know what that is, but I'll try anything twice.
This made me laugh 😂 You gotta try, sometimes regular taco spots have it on weekends.
A few years ago, you did a very similar childhood barbacoa recipe, but the only difference was you added about a quarter cup of water with a few drops of liquid smoke. Do you still like this method, or have you moved away from it? Thank you!! I love your videos and obviously remember them 😂
It looks delicious. Although I could never get used to beef cheeks. Tastes funny. But I can change type of beef and follow the recipe
I have made it very similar but I'll throw in a language ....yumm
Mouth watering 😋😋
You said the fat was not the healthiest, but it turns out we’ve been lied to about nutrition for decades. Animal fat is healthy. Of course it’s less healthy if you source your protein from industrial farming since all the toxins and hormones stay in the fat. But if you can source From a cattle rancher, whose doing the grass fed grass finished with no inoculations, the fat is actually wonderful for your health. The fat soluble vitamins need fat in our diet. Anyway, I appreciate this and I’m going to make some beef cheeks.
🎉😊😅😮😢🎉❤
❤
Do you have to use cheeks? Is there another cut of meat I can use? Looks so delicious 😋
Thank you, Angelica! ❤️
Yummy 😋
Yum yum
🙏
Yummmmm 😋
Love ur videos where did u buy the skillet where u cooking the tortillas

Quick and to the point.
Tienes recetas en español ?se mira riquísima tu barbacoa 😋
Reminds me of my childhood
💛...is there an equivalent for the beef cheeks?...i haven't seen it my stores...
I've seen it done with Chuck roast.
This looks amazing! I don’t have a crockpot but I do have an Instant Pot. How long do you think it would take in the Instant Pot?
Omg street tacos...YUM
Yumm
You are the best from Barbara 😊
where did you get the round electric comal?
I was just wondering in place of beef cheeks what else could you use?
Where did you get that grill for the flour tortillas!
Great looking barbacoa !! Where can I buy the cookbook you showed in this video??
I got mine on Amazon.
What temp if I want to cook it in the oven?
On Gochujang mam video of barbacoa, you added liquid smoke with a few tbsp of water and brushed over cheeks. Did you eliminate or add that on tnis video? I hope you reply soon. Thx
My husband has been craving this type of barbacoa taco, but they don't sell beef cheeks in the grocery stores near us. He doesn't like it with chuck roast-too dry not fatty enough. Would beef tongue be a good substitute?
May I know where you shopped the beef cheeks?
If Cheeks are not available. What's a good substitute?
Chuck maybe? Thx
Was the meat at room temperature when placed in the crock pot????
Did you add any broth or anything before starting the cook?
People don't believe me when I tell them that you can cook meat in a crock pot without adding liquid. I have cooked beef roast, turkey wings, and goat meat without adding water or broth. You can include aromatics like onions, carrots, or celery that release juices along with the meat that releases its own juices. Because the contents of the pot cooks slowly, it renders juices that don't dissipate the way other cooking methods do.
Hey love your videos but about how many people will 6lbs feed??
👍🏻
How many people would this serve ? We are having around 25 of my husband's classmates to our home in a month. Everyone will be bringing something. I would love to make your barbacoa. It looks delicious . How much meat do you think I should buy ?
And Big Red
