The Peacock's Feathers - Irish Fiddle Tune | Katy Adelson

- Here is a cute little Irish tune called "The Peacock's Feathers." I learned this tune from a harp friend! I think there are two different tunes with this title, and sometimes I've seen this particular tune referred to as the "The 2nd Peacock's Feathers" tune, and it's in D major. I think the other Peacock Feathers tune is in D minor. They both go well together, but I just wanted to play the major one for this video.
I'm not sure if this is supposed to be considered a hornpipe or a barn dance. It kind of makes an unusual hornpipe, if that's what it is. Either way, it's a lot of fun to play!
Not very many people seem to play this tune where I live, but it seems to be fairly common among harp players! I learned this particular version by-ear, but I couldn't find a similar version of sheet music available on the Internet when I wanted to verify if I had learned the notes correctly. All of the sheet music versions I found for this tune were written a bit differently... I'll try to write out this version sometime soon! :)
Thank you for watching, and I hope you have a good rest of the week! =)

All your music is beautiful and I wish I could play my violin like you do.
you need to think of it as a Fiddle :) !!
You can do it all you gotta do is practice and take the process a bit at a time, my name is faith too XD so I thought I'd comment cause I learned this today :D
Thank you so much, Faith! =) Violin is a tricky instrument, but I think my level of playing is a very achievable level! It takes lots of time, motivation, and practice, but I think you could play like this someday, too! =)
BEAUTIFUL MUSIC ❣️❣️❣️
Beautiful
After watching you play I think the best thing to do with my fiddle is hang it on a wall as decoration!
Oh my goodness I just discovered you and love your playing and videos so much! :D

That was very nice :)
Thank you )
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it! =)
I half expected to see leprechauns jumping about and dancing behind you while you were playing 🍀🍀. What beautiful fun little tune! Sla'inte!
Thanks Bill! It does seem like a good leprechaun dance tune! lol! That'd actually make an interesting video -- if I ever get better at making special effects, I'll try to edit in some hidden easter eggs into the background of videos lol.
Thank you for your music, keep going^^
Thank you for listening! : D
Te Amo !
This tune just sounds like spring!! :D I love it! And the background fits perfectly! :)
Thank you! ^_^ I think it sounds like Spring, too! I can't wait for warmer weather and flowers! =)
Love it 👍
EXCELENTE MELODÍA!!!
COMO SIEMPRE :D
Perfect timing I was getting ready to lay down and now I sleep with I smile on my face :D can't wait till I'm this amazing !!!!
Thank you Joey! I hope you slept well. ^_^ I think everyone can play a tune like this with some practice! =)
Meravigliosé !
That is amazing
Katy: Is that a new violin? Looks different... Nice tune!! Thank you for all the videos and tutorials, I try to learn as many as possible.
Good eye! Yes, it's a different violin, but not a new violin. It's my old "cheaper" student-level violin from when I was a kid. I sometimes use it for videos, and nobody seems to have noticed a difference in the sound...yet...lol! ^_^
I love it, very nicely played. And that's the nice thing about fiddle tunes, they do vary depending how they get passed along from player to player :) Love your new haircut, too :)
Thank you Mandy! =) It's neat how fiddle tunes are played a little differently all around the world! : D And this video was filmed a little while ago after I had had a haircut -- I think I need a new haircut! My hair is getting a bit unkempt...haha! But thank you! =)
I love your playing
Very good 🙂
i love this! You should do a rendition of the Harvest Home fiddle tune
@Katy Adelson - i would like to hear sometime in the future your version of "For the Star of County Down". I dont want to bring it up, but i am your 1k subscriber - lol :)
Everytime I watch one of ur videos I remember Talylor Davis , don't get me wrong I'm not comparing or anything but u both have a beautiful talent 😃
Thank you! I love Taylor Davis -- she's an awesome violinist and a big inspiration of mine. =) I try to follow in her footsteps a bit, which might be why our channels seem kind of similar...
ur doing well urself , keep and u will made 🙂
Felicitaciones !!from Colombian !!
Thank you Jorge!! =)
Buenos días de este fantástico Domingo, ¡ que disfrutes de este sensacional día al máximo ! Opino exactamente lo mismo que Tu del violín. Nos Vemos. Saludos amiga.
Before I read the description, my first association was a barn dance. By the way, a pretty dress! :)
Thank you! :) I agree -- it sounds more like a barn dance to me! A lot of people have classified it as a hornpipe on the Internet, though... :o
She looks cute in thee wood! She makes me happy when play the fiddle!
Thank you Carlos! =) ♪♬
Awesome job. How many tunes do you know?❤

Katy, what model of your violin?
You play so well. Do you have a book of your tunes with notes? I thought I saw a Scottish peacock race across behind you. I’ll look for feathers later.
WOW irish player. Then i want to see you playing "Gallagher's Frolics".
Nice do you know Lindsey Stirling?
I've met her, but considering how big her fan base is, she probably doesn't remember me... ^_^ She's really talented! =)
Katy, you are very talented as well. Plus I really love the music you perform, and may i say i love your smile. :)

Χάρηκα πολύ
Thank you! =)
There's something about classical violinists playing fiddle tunes...robotic ? same tones thru out !
Lovely, as always, Katy. I really like this tune ... gets me fired up for Saint Pat's day. I've watched all of your posts and I listen to/watch several of your arrangements every day. Ps ... red is your color, but then again ... you look great in any color!
