Love our Midea Duo 12,000 BTU as well. Got ours at Costco. Note (on AUTO mode only): Once your set temperature is acquired, the fan turns WAY down to whisper quiet and blows a wisp of cold air into the room to maintain the set temperature. When there is too much difference between the set temperature and the room, the fan switched back to a higher setting until it reaches your set temperature .
Nice job on your review - appreciate your input on how you performed the installation. It would interesting to see if your unit could be used inside a hot room, like a patio turned into sun room. The unit we purchased, the room had to be less than 80 degrees or less for the unit to begin operation. Hence, I could not use the unit in our shed since the shed temperature was above 80 when we turned on the A/C unit. Did you happen to see anything in your manual about maximum room temperature for the unit to operate?
Same when I bought my house the sun room had two really small vents which doesn’t bring the temp down to much e but I wanted to keep it cool I’m case I had a party or friends over
Mine doesn’t squeak in AC but when the inverter kicks on it has a high pitched tone to it for a few seconds. It doesn’t sound like a bad noise but it’s noticeable
Hello there , i recently got a similar unit , it makes a weird sound when setting to 22 like ice water or running water squeaking or hissing idk, is that what you are experiencing ? ua-cam.com/users/shortsVVH6V__Fk7s?feature=share
Have you had to drain the air conditioner yet? I have one of these. Mine does not have the heat function so no heat pump. But my top drain was dribbling so I had to start draining it with the hose into a bucket. So far I haven't had to adjust the bottom drain setting.
I'm late for this but the top one shouldn't. What you have is a clogged drain. Newer air conditioners have an evaporation function that evaporates the condensed water. So it shouldn't be coming out the top one.
@@TylerHVACI had one of these and I was having water coming from the top drain. I mean, a LOT of water. I had to use a bucket and empty it twice a day in high humidity. Midea said it was a defective unit and they were good with their guarantee.
@@TylerHVACI wonder if others have had that drainage issue with this particular model. I know with the older portable ACs, people do have to drain them, but I didn't even realize when I bought this Midea that it was supposed to be almost entirely self-evaporating.
I had to connect my hose to the top drainage outlet and then let the other end of the hose sit in a bucket. I can't get over the amount of liquid that has come out of it. The AC is doing a great job at keeping my place. Cool.
We have the same unit and the answer is NO, 1200 watts is full power(The sound recording they played was at full power) but as it gets closer to the set point the unit slows down and gets very quiet that's the advantage of an inverter vs a compressor. Inverters are 40% more efficient over a compressor, Also with an inverter you don't get extreme temputure swings.
@zacinaustralia definetly do. These models arent found in EU. This is the best portable ac ever made.. dual hose is way more effieenct than single hose models. + it has inverter compressor which is variable so as you reach the set temp, it uses way less electricity. Older on off models (most portable acs) just turn its self off and then turns on again... and heat pump is good for winter. Do buy it

Excellent review. I just got one of these. So far it's doing good in this 110 degree weather here.
So you can use this with a screen then? Perfect

How is the AC unit on the electricity bill?
Awesome review, I just ordered one..
Can you flip that hose to fit a side opening window?
@@ggqbc it’s tight and would depend on the size of the window midea might sell adapters though. Not sure, good luck
Excellent review
Will the hot exhaust air damage the screen? Thanks.
Just got a similar unit, does yours make a high pitched squeaking sound when it’s cooling?

Mine does this too…did you find out why and how to remove the noise?
Do you have to drain the A/C ? some portables you have to drain water out periodically
Duo hose doesn't need draining, only the single hose one does. This model is the dual hose.
Thanks so much for your review! Are you able to install this unit without having to remove the window screen?
I installed mine in a casement swing-out window and I did not remove the screen.
How do u prevent breaking from the unlocked window
Gunz and roses

Does the device use 1,200 watts the entire time? I’m trying to use it to cool 175sqft bedroom

Did you go through with the purchase? We're also wondering about buying one for a smaller room

Hold up, open the screen?
Yes otherwise it will ruin it
how is that "ultra quiet"?
Because it's on high..put it on medium and low and it's barely noticeable
Thats loud
Not too bad
