  • How to remove starlings from a bathroom vent!
Starling flips up bathroom vent and goes inside to feed it's young. Starling stopper trap is inserted into vent to use the mother bird to draw the babies into the trap. The birds are then removed from house and dealt with according to state regulations. Bathroom vent is then sealed with a bird-proof vent cover.

Birds clogged up my dryer vent big time. After cleaning it out it was fine. Even after I had to get a new timer it wouldn’t dry my clothes because of the clog. Ok now. Oh those darn birds.

This cover was not placed on a dryer vent. As per my description, it is a bathroom exhaust vent. Thank you for your interest.

Vent covers like this constitute a fire hazard for dryer exhaust terminations and are illegal per Section 504.4 of the 2009 International Mechanical Code. Dryer exhaust system fires cause many injuries and deaths each year. Use these covers for other exhaust terminations but not for dryer exhaust.

It’s costly to get someone’s services when you are alone. Everything costs these days. The birds are destructive and annoying to say the least.

In certain circumstances we wait for the young to leave on their own but that can take 4-6 weeks. The build-up of waste and bird mites over that time period in the vent can create a health hazard. The noise and odor from the birds are also a concern.
If clients have birds in their bath vent we will often recommend that they place a piece of plain printer paper on the lid of the toilet. Wait about an hour and then inspect the paper with a magnifying glass. It's amazing to see the bird mites squirming on that piece of paper. Imagine those mites dropping onto a person using the facilities. Though bird mites don't use humans as hosts they are still a true irritant.

May I suggest a bath in brake fluid before their release?

Is your video camera also a vacuum cleaner, or how do you get all the noise? :)
    Interesting gadget idea here.

I help a friend shoot Starlings on his farm with a .22LR and scope. My record is 107 in one day. They spread disease and dilute native bird populations.

why not wait for the young to fledge then close the vent with mesh?

why not wait for the young to fledge then close the vent with mesh?
Because of the bird mites and the waste that the birds are depositing inside the exhaust vent and vent hose. This constitutes a health hazard. These bids should be removed from your home as soon as possible.

Why would you release these invasive evil birds? Feed them all to some cats.

I drown nuisance wildlife. Releasing them is making them someone else's problem. They drown within a few seconds. It is much more humane than using widely marketed poisons. From poisons, they die within 4 days.
