I don't do New Year's Resolutions anymore. I do affirmations &goals. Christmas Eve for us is at home watching Christmas movies,baking cookies & just enjoying each other. Christmas Day is spent with my parents,siblings,nieces &nephews at m parent's house. We eat &exchange gifts. This year we are having breakfast foods because that's what the children &young adults wanted. But we're also doing prime rib,potatoes &steamed broccoli for the adults.
Your mom's preparing empanadas remind me of when my family used to prepare and sell hot tamales. We're American but it was my dad's specialty he had a cart for what we call Eastern market holiday memories are good.
Wow!!!, I am from Trinidad & Tobago and pastelles are one of the mainstay dishes we have for Christmas., Now our base is corn meal, instead of the plantains and cassava (important provisions with our meals). Yes making pastelles is an all-day family event with an assembly line for the preparation. The pigeon peas and rice is also a Christmas lunch/dinner dish. Thanks for sharing. It's nice to see that although we are in different parts of the world, our cultures meet because of Historical circumstances. We are doing wings, grill ribs, bake beans, crassaint, and cheesecake, lemonade and tea (simple this year). No not really I only decorate the table setting for me and husband for dinner on valentine time day. That reminds me of meat pies. Aaaw he is so cute. There is no recipe for any of the dishes that my mom makes. The oil that she added to the leaf were from seeds that she got from Dominican republic and she made herself my mom just naturally cooks she does not measure.
