Mahidevran was never forgiven. She lived in that palace irrelevant to Suleiyman. She cried till the end. Suleiyman only forgives when his offender is punished. That is the only reason he and Hurrem always reconcile. If you hurt him, he will punish you and if he hurt you, he will shower you with jewelries. He gave Hurrem the greatest power a woman can hold in that Empire.

She is my favorite Valide from here to Kosem. No one else is quite as elegant, regal, traditional. I also feel like she’s the most affectionate Grandmother we see in the show as well. Even with the plots she makes against Hurrem, she’s and excellent character and really well portrayed the whole series.
I’m glad to see Hurrem is beginning to control herself. I want to feel sorry for Mahidevron but I just can’t. Still, imagine how dangerous those two women would be in that Palace if they had become friends 😂

I'm amazed the whole place doesn't go up in flames every episode with all the candles and torches blazing. They move around in flowing outfits with long long sleeves that fly over the candles. I'm truly amazed. It was not like that in real life. It got dark and it was time for bed. Glass gets incredibly hot when burning flames as on the screen. One candle. Per person. Though I'm sure the Sultan castle had many lit sconces
Sulayman is ignoring Hurrem and very egoistic with just a tactless words of hurrem towards his family. But when Hurrem was poisoned and beaten by Mahidevran, Ibrahim hid and cover Mahidevran and Sulaiman did nothing to say anything to warn Mahidevran, this showed his unfair treatment to hurrem, this is the reason why hurrem take her revenge by herself slowly. Sulaiman's reading of love poems to hurrem expressing his love is superficial. So sad Hurrem is blinded by her love to Sulaiman

Hatice's life seems depressing and of no value. She hardly ever smiles. She's of royal blood, has so much wealth and yet has no life, no say of her own. All she does is cry and has no guts to profess her love for Ibrahim. What a pitiful way to have lived. I guess that's why they say love is for the courageous.
She's such a boring drip but Mahidevran is a boring character too. Most of the women are annoying characters. I suppose it comes from the tedious, dull, limited lives they were forced to live. Could you imagine the boredom of being trapped on that place?

I love Ibrahim’s monologue in the beginning (around 20 minutes in) it reminds of the one Kosem did in the sequel in episode 10… “I am Kosem, the scorching sun, the freezing ice, the flowing waters… I am Kosem.”

She will later drive herself insane and then kill herself over a dead cheating lover who cast her to the side and fell for another woman. Hurrem is really not a bad person, it's what was dish out to she went through a lot of humiliation, you can't trust anyone who tried to poison you, they hate her because she can stand up to them, she's a strong woman.
I had to laugh at all the pashas because their reactions were hilarious. Ibrahim now holds the second highest position behind the Sultan himself 😂 Unfortunate though that this kind of power he actually didn't want evidently became the main reason he was executed in the end. Power can change a person, not always for the good either.
Ibrahim is a classic example of absolute power corrupting absolutely. He definitely let the power go to go to his head and, while we see it happening each episode, once they showed the hoard of gold and jewels he was hiding we know he had been corrupt for a really long time before he was killed.

Only in this series she was called sultana, but in history all concubines are called " Hatun", and never become Haseki. Calling her sultana and haseki in this series are some twists from history.

It was pretty much forbidden for them to have ever been alone and/or meeting secretly to develop those feelings. In almost all royalty, especially so long ago, princesses were methods of forming alliance, tokens of appreciation, their lives didn't matter.
The disease of Mustafa's tutor and Hatice fianceé I think is Tubercolosis of today, and its contagious esp. to children. Mahidevran is still hoping Sulaiman will love her again using their child, what a pity. A man if no longer love a woman, will no longer love a woman, whatever you do.
I may not like Ibrahim but in this series, he is a true friend to Matrakçi. He's already the Grand Vizier but he stayed friend with Matrakci until the very end because Matrakci does not look on Ibrahim's past as a lowly servant to the palace

We all are victims of our times. So was Murad! He didn’t chose that life, it chose him. He wasn’t handed over a stable empire like Suleiman was from Selim the Grim, a cruel iron fist was the need of that hour at that time and he did just that. I had to laugh at all the pashas because their reactions were hilarious. Ibrahim now holds the second highest position behind the Sultan himself 😂 Unfortunate though that this kind of power he actually didn't want evidently became the main reason he was executed in the end. Ibrahim is a classic example of absolute power corrupting absolutely. He definitely let the power go to go to his head and, while we see it happening each episode, once they showed the hoard of gold and jewels he was hiding we know he had been corrupt for a really long time before he was killed.
