The funniest thing about that is Nath's reaction. Johnny is like, breakdown incoming! but he's like nah. And he looks so proud of himself only to go "wait what the hell?" immediately after lmao

The amazing thing is that last 2 minutes is the same verse and pre chorus from the beginning of the song, presented in TOTALLY different way.
yeah, my reading of the song is that it's literally a summoning in real-time:
section 1: the incantation / prayer for an encounter of "the divine", worship
section 2: shit gets heavy / brutal, we're not in Kansas anymore, worship gets more ecstatic
section 3: going through the veil (ambient section)
section 4: "the other side", intimacy / sexy time encounter with the divine
Damn. That's crazy. Doubt anyone would've figured that out without this comment lol. Did you also catch how the song starts with music and ends with less music? Crazy stuff

i feel like i misread this song bc with the title being "The Summoning" i sort it assumed it was abt them summoning smth but it feels more like Vessel is singing from the POV of what is being summoned
At the risk of getting yelled at, the vocals sounds like a rougher/heavier/grittier vocal of Kings of Leon singer and its amazing, especially the last funk part it resembles him as well. and the breakdown was a banger ❤🔥🔥🔥🔥

I absolutely FROTH the first half of the song. If Sleep Token released a full album that sounded like that first half, I’d be playing it on repeat and throwing it up for AOTY contender.
I personally feel like that last minute of the song could’ve been it’s own track to break up the album with something different but running with a continuous theme (like Bad Omens most recent album for example) and it would’ve been a great thing!
My hopes for this album could not be higher. The funky last minute is possibly some of my favorite work from them thus far.

Excellent point about short attention spans. The days of soaking up an hour+ record are sort of fading off. A lot of records seem to try to pump out singles and continuity isn't as important as it's all about playlists these days.

I get your point even though I do listen to a lot of music. Going back 10 years or so I'd listen to an album at a time, but now because Spotify makes it so easy to make playlists and I find most new music through UA-cam I don't really do that any more unless it's a band that I really like. The only full albums I've listened to in the last year have been from Electric Callboy and Dance Gavin Dance, and even then I've only listened through a couple of times when the album came out and added the handful of songs that grabbed me straight away to my regular playlist. It's something I've always done, I used to buy albums then pick my favourite songs and burn them all onto one CD, but obviously back then you had a limit on the amount of songs you could add so you had to be more careful how you chose and if you really fancied listening to a song that wasn't on your mixtape you'd have to go back to the album it was on, but again, Spotify makes it easy by giving you an unlimited playlist so if you suddenly get a song in your head that you didn't add you can just do it in seconds. Plus most of the time you can just hear what are inevitably going to be the best songs on UA-cam, go "yep, that one" and add it, so you don't feel as inclined to listen to the whole album even if you have the time to.

Good point! Though to be fair I do like the ambience or vibe some albums set when listened to front to back. That's why I also never shuffle an album. I generally tend to switch between playlists and albums depending in how much of one artist I'm down for in that moment.
In terms of that last convo, I think we’ll see more bands just release singles until the album is out, like sundowning by sleep token, what falling in reverse is doing I think? And what The Wise Man’s Fear (awesome band you should check out) just finished.
