Honestly the concept of gaining people's trust and that deciding weather who dies and stuff reminds me a lot of the og concept of Distrust, and idea I wished Danganronpa explored, so I think that would be super interesting!
From what I remember the original idea for distrust was like the story change weather certain characters trusted or distrusted you, wich seems like a rlly cool idea but would have taken more time to writte and stuff so it was discarted
I love how Shuichi's in the thumbnail probably thinking "Why does that guy look so much like me?" This game seems very interesting! I would love to play it!
I swear, if they reveal that he is actually Shuichi by showing his past of solving a revenge murder and the murderer looking at him with such hate, I'm gonna jump so hard that it will almost break my calves.
While it is quite similar to DR, I think it's got enough unique stuff going on to interest me. And if fangans have taught us anything, it's that there's a lot more to the DR format left to be explored. I'd be happy to see DR become its own genre in that way, sort of like a "Metroidvania" of visual novels, because I think there's so much untapped potential there.
The investigation simulation part highly reminds me of the CLUE game board. So although it didn't mention anything like it, I hope this game has randomized culprit/incidents, just like the game CLUE. A visual Novelized version of that game. Which would be very incredible for replayability, and lend weight to using each detectives specialties, and deciding "during this playthrough, I'm going to focus on XYZ".
headcanon: after the end of V3, Shuichi started working as an actual detective under an alias, and got involved in this "Quartering Duke" case. This is why he is here and our protagonist again. It's actually a stealth sequel to V3. 👀
I can definitely see what you mean about it being very similar to Danganronpa. But honestly I'm pretty excited to see it's release regardless. The concept of different outcomes occuring based on relationships and decisions, and the take on investigations, are pretty fun and interesting. It was one of the things I wished Danganronpa did, like with the Distrust concept they had
I’m gonna be real here, danganronpa inspired projects or fangans have always been more interesting to me than the actual danganronpa, considering a lot of the writing problems in those games are too large for me personally to excuse. Which is why I love games like this, even if it’s similar it’s still taking from the *concept* I love about Danganronpa and hopefully fleshing out the characters and building a story better than Danganronpa did.
this just makes me yearn for if DR kept the distrust concept... having your relationships decide who lives and who dies is an amazing idea and couldve been used to flesh out characters that died early like sayaka and leon
I love mystery games where my choices affect the whole game. Makes me really think of what I would do and say like a real detective instead of just carelessly choosing options since there's only one outcome. This game sounds like what "Distrust" would've been if the Danganronpa devs decided to push it through since I remember that game having the trust feature where it determines the outcome of the investigations and trials.
Shuichi first thing you do after getting out of a murderous tv show is go become the protag of a new one? C’mon man I thought you’ve learned your lesson
I would think that making a game that takes inspiration from Danganronpa without borrowing too much from it would be rather difficult. Especially with the death game setting, as the number of suspects in a murder is not only set, but also an ever decreasing one.
So far my concern was it was going to be a solely “Visual Noel” style game but seeing as how it has more depth and variety to the gameplay, this seems like it’s worth a buy.
I definitely look forward to it and also it’s not like Danganronpa has a monopoly on killing games or something so I believe they are in the right to make this game
the main games, fan games, and now an inspired game. i swear i love these murder mystery type games. danganronpa is what started my love and the main games and the fan games i love em all. i cant wait for this game to come out, curious to see how it plays out
This sounds really fun! I love the idea of only getting as much evidence as you earn, and then having to come up with the solution yourself from there. Sometimes in Danganronpa. it felt too much like we were always gonna get the answer, and we were just kinda on a track to it without having to put it together much ourselves. I think it would be really cool if you could miss evidence, and then have a harder time figuring it out yourself, and if you can't figure it out, people trust you less or something. Looks fun!
The main character looks almost nothing like Saihara -- his haircut, eye colour and eye shape are all different. Really the only similarity is that they both have dark hair and wear black clothes
I like the idea of gaining people's trust in order to make the trial part easily. I do hope it has a more differences from the DR formula like maybe someone does die but you don't find the killer yet the game continues or maybe instead of someone dying, someone goes missing and you have to find them not knowing whether they are alive or dead and hopefully the "trial" part isn't too similar in gameplay.
Hey! I like this! I like the premise and the gameplay sounds fun When you started to say it was more decision based i thought of the danganronpa beta thing where you had to gain other student's trust to get better results and shit
Weeby in the future : We are gonna play some games that protagonists are inspired by kanade and Mitch. Kanade ( yandere simulator but incel version ), Mitch ( Ea sport club game )
Honestly this game is making me excited for it! I definitely sounds like the original version of Danganronpa which was called “Distrust”, though different with it being about 13 detectives trying to solve a serial killer case. I always wanted a game similar to Distrust, but I couldn’t really find any that interest me or feels exactly like the concept(I know there’s Zero Escape, but it doesn’t really work for me with wanting the Distrust vibes). Also that’s definitely Shuichi in that game and no one can convince me otherwise.
Clearly there's big inspiration, but it's kind of a concept&execution thing, as long as the execution is different (which it seems like it is), it's enough to be called it's own thing Kind of like how Hajime and Nagito have evrything in commun but no one says Hajime is a copy (unlike poor Kokichi)
I hope its not constant death like danganronpa. Give us other things to investigate and make the deaths real big and impactful and unexpected. It would be cool if there was ways to ‘save’ people from death too, for repeat plays.
I kinda barely remember this game from a long time ago when, for advertising, they did an (All in JP) online mini dress-up game to make yourself a mini black avatar with custom hair 😁 it was cute!
Here is the rating from famitsu: Tantei Bokumetsu (PS4, Switch) - 8/8/8/7 [31/40] World’s End Club (Switch) - 8/8/7/8 [31/40] Funny enough it came out the the time as world end Club and had the same score. Looks pretty good. Of course in comparison Danganronpa main games were never under 36/40 if I remember right.
I’m talking out my ass here, but I would believe that rather than the main character’s design being inspired by Saihara, instead both are referencing the same tropes or iconography of a young detective, which is just flying over my head as someone of another culture.
That black uniform is quite a common anime school uniform (I believe IRL it was the standard boy's uniform in Japan at one time) and, apart from the ahoge, the hair is kind of generic anime hair too. I don't know whether they're actually aiming for "generic guy protag" or for "plausible deniability that he's Saihara."
While this game is inspired by Danganronpa(especially the theme's resemble Danganronpa Kirigiri, and yes... That ahoge boy) it's also reminds me to Gyakuten Kenji, a spin-off game from Gyakuten Saiban series where you became a prosecutor and exploring the crime scene to search for evidence, discuss or arguing with another characters that involved with the cases(another prosecutor too) and prosecute the one who dun'nit.
I hadn't heard of this game, found the demo, and immediately bought it (came out in April). Finished it last week! Lots of fun, will not spoil anything. Wanted to address the Suichi look a like thing as I can see the images being similar now, but definitely different characters. There's some gameplay parts that I thought could've been improved upon like not being able to reference evidence during summation most of the time except during specific parts (would've been very helpful for one case especially that had me super "Huh? "-ing) and I felt the investigation section, while enjoyable, was a little too easy (minus one case). Still very easy to recommend. It's a lot more visual novel than Danganronpa by a long shot, so fair warning there.
I forgot to mention this: my only huge pain point was my game crashing (played on switch), so be sure to save often. I had it crash once during the demo, then at least four times while playing, including the final scenes. I still recommend it in spite of this issue. Doesn't beat Danganronpa for me, but I liked the characters and the story.
This isn’t even like inescapable where it takes inspiration but seems very very different this is just straight up danganronpa lol, hyped for the game thoufh
The game seems fine, although I don't really care about it because I don't have the necessary consoles. It's still fine to see news on this. I wonder why are the characters going to kill each other, or if they are going to kill each other at all. Maybe the incidents will be things like thefts or aggressions, with the culprits merely being tied up or something. The protagonist looks too much like Shuichi, but other than that I don't mind the similarities. By the way, how could you see the like-dislike ratio of the trailer? UA-cam doesn't let me see dislikes anymore.
First UBEL, then Inescapable now this. Gah! I can’t take it anymore… these independent fangames shouldn’t be this promising especially since the original source they’re inspired from wasn’t even that good (storyline wise) looking back at it.

What if the game throws a Kaede on us?
He’s so good he became the protag twice
Ohhhhh you should definitely play this game once it comes out, Weeby!! Gotta bust out the Shuichi voice once more. ;)
Our thirst for anime killing games will never be sated
after finally escaping killing harmony, shuichi got placed into ANOTHER killing game 😭
