Yes. When it was launched it had highest suction among others. I remember the demo person held his hand near suction hole and literally lifted the vaccum cleaner... the suction was that strong!

Its spring coil like watch.. when wire is pulled out it creates tension, when that button is pressed, tension release causes wire to pull back in again. Hope I was able to explain you.
