Henning May is using his voice like this since many years. Annenmaykantereit started of singing on the streets of Cologne while still beeing in school. A lot of originals and very unique covers are worth to bei listened to. Right now they are in tour. Great perfomances
The song is a cover of Suzanne Vega's Tom's Diner (1987). This is a collaboration of two German bands: In the first room AnnenMayKantereit are playing and Henning May (deep raspy voice) is their singer. And in the second room Giant Rooks are playing, Frederik Rabe is their singer. A little later AnnenMayKantereit join them. The guys of AnnenMayKantereit are the older ones.. AMK does mostly German songs, Henning can also sing without that rasp, his voice is amazing, but I like Frederiks voice even more. Giant Rooks do English songs, even though they are Germans as well. One reason why I love Frederiks voice is their cover of Life On Mars (David Bowie): ua-cam.com/video/slIG7Aes7DM/v-deo.html. And my favorite original song of Giant Rooks is Nightingales Of The Walled City: ua-cam.com/video/4u5pPzAq0i0/v-deo.html . It is a live performance because they haven't released it.
Hahaha I JUST stumbled upon this song today and have listened to it uncountable times...have been having fun watching peoples reactions. Their blend of beautiful melodic with King.Raspy...they are BOTH unbelievable. PLEASE MAKE A DUO ALBUM!!! They are having SO MUCH FUN together, all the band members.
This lady reacting has such a warm and lovely spirit. Full belly laughs. It was so cool watching her reaction. To BOTH fellas (and the band(s)), as they both offered so much flavor in their own unique ways. I'm gonna start a Petition for them to make a huge band collab album! We, The People, have decided! Chop chop young Men, you have awesome soulful music to create together. Lol. But fr fr
The guy in the “hat” is Kantericht, the drummer from the other room. The guitar is Annum and the deep singer is May (pronounced my.) the second band is the Giant Rooks. Their lead singer is Fl Rabbe (the high voice) great collaboration
I'd recommend checking out "Roxanne" and "Can't Get You Outta My Head". Both are also covers from AMK featuring other bands. P.S. - that perm on you is dynamite.
In 2019 I was at a concert of the band AMK. Before there part Giant Rooks played. After one of these concerts together they jammed to "Tom's Diner" ... I love the final product!
Great reaction and yes, you pronounced AnnenMayKantereit correctly. That’s the name of the first band, whose lead singer has the low raspy voice. The second band (in the second room) is Giant Rooks, led by Frederic Rabe. Both bands are German.
I am German. The "reit" in Kantereit was pronounced the right way, the rest was pronounced like you would do it in English. Here is the link to an interview with Henning May. At 0:49 and in the seconds afterwards the interviewer and Henning pronounce it the right way: ua-cam.com/video/cA-6fRsnPTQ/v-deo.html
Hi normal they singing in german.. Try another german voices. 🤔. :"Null positiv - wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer" (about war).. :"Jennifer Rostock - Kaleidoskop...." (enjoy)..
Henning voice is amazing. The other singer has. to know how powerful Henning voice. and to stand there and showcase his voice is amazing. The colab on this song is such a gift
Oh Jules... you just scratched the surface of AMK! I would love to hear you reat to this songs as well. 1st Roxanne - AMK feat Milky Chance (another great collab) 2nd Barfuß am Klavier (Henning solo) 3rd Du bist anders (Henning, Cristopher and a guitar) 4th Pocahontas (probably their biggest single here in germany)
That's cool !!! I like that they've given the song a slightly new spin. I love the original song by Susan Vega. However it has inspired so many cover versions that it's almost becoming a category of its own. And many of them are really interesting and good.
Both bands are great and it was a nice surprise to find out about them too. I think another familiar song by Suzanne Vega is "Luka". I always listened to it not really knowing what it meant. Then, I read that she wrote the song about a boy, Luka, who was undergoing a tough childhood and abuse, but pretending that everything is fine. These 2 songs ("Tom's Diner" and "Luka") were always vaguely familiar when they were played on the radio or in cafes, but I never knew what they were called until many years later.
In the morning At the diner On the corner I am waiting At the counter For the man To pour the coffee And he fills it Only halfway And before I even argue He is looking Out the window At somebody Coming in "It is always Nice to see you" Says the man Behind the counter To the woman Who has come in She is shaking Her umbrella And I look The other way As they are kissing Their hellos And I'm pretending Not to see them And instead I pour the milk I open Up the paper There's a story Of an actor Who had died While he was drinking It was no one I had heard of And I'm turning To the horoscope And looking For the funnies When I'm feeling Someone watching me And so I raise my head There's a woman On the outside Looking inside Does she see me? No she does not Really see me 'Cause she sees Her own reflection And I'm trying Not to notice That she's hitching Up her skirt And while she's Straightening her stockings Her hair Has gotten wet Oh this rain It will continue Through the morning As I'm listening To the bells Of the cathedral I am thinking Of your voice And of the midnight picnic Once upon a time Before the rain began And I finish up my coffee And it's time to catch the train
Cool reaction, if you're an opera singer, I recommend you to check out Dimash Kudaibergen. He is the most impressive singer I could find in social media, having 6 octaves and incredible range
Actually good to see, two German bands, basically founded during their school days to receive some international recognizion. I love Henning May´s voice, the raspy one. But actually I watched the Giant Rooks opening concert for the current tour just 2 months ago and the singer of Giant Rooks is live way better than this vidoe shows.
OK MY BEIGE MASCULINE GAY ASS .......THE JOY THAT CAME THRU YOUR BEAUTIFUL FACE IS EXACTLY PERFECTLY MY FEELINGS WHEN I JUST HEARD THIS AND SAW THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME YESTERDAY....I WAS SITTING THERE WITH MY FACE BLANK AND MY MOUTH OPEN IN THE "WTF!?" EXPRESSION...AND MY SOUL LOOKED LIKE YOU! EASY SUBSCRIBE!!!!
I can't get enough of people's reactions 😊

I love the voice of Henning. Great singer! It's really worth to check out some more stuff by AMK. Cheers from Germany.
If you look, Henning has veins popping out of his neck even beore he sings hard. He's just fit and lean.

I now watch the reaction videos just for that initial shock… it’s never disappointing!

People skip the 1st guy. His awkward announcement is awesome. Especially when you know it's just not American. Great duo.
I love both of the singers and their bands plus the super great video
The guy with the white hat is the bass player from the first room. In the second room, another guy plays the bass guitar.
I love your reaction and the mechanics how you explain a little bit more. Thanks
wonderful, two good bands, two good voices, I'd love to see more from AnnenMayKantereit😘👌👍👊
Thank you!
I love this veins and don’t question. He’s got it. Interesting is an understatement

thank you.... but its actually my natural hair. LOL
@@themcsyoutubechannel It's naturally curly? Well that's quite the blessing I would say because it looks really good.
In 2019 I was at a concert of the band AMK. Before there part Giant Rooks played. After one of these concerts together they jammed to "Tom's Diner" ... I love the final product!
FYI the guys between the two rooms are the two different bands. The guys with the hats played instruments in the first room
Original a capella version of this song was the test for the creation of the mp3. Love Suzanne Vega.
LOVE your reaction and your expressions!!! :D
Thank you!! 😁

If you haven't, you should watch Giant Rooks' cover of David Bowie's Life On Mars. It is absolutely beautiful and they're adorable.
I love how the first guy gets the ladies to fall and then the second guy opens his mouth and totally swoops them into a new world and yoinks them all.
I wonder if you've heard LP's "Lost On You". If not it would be great to see you react to the live version.
no I havent... but its going on the list now... thanks!
ua-cam.com/video/av0M0i1S8QI/v-deo.html - Interested in how they started 10 years ago? 😀
Hi there, were did that echo comes from??
Here he is singing with no veins popping. ua-cam.com/users/shortsMNP-Tfy3iOc?feature=share
True Henning May can put on the rasp! His range is from bass to midrange baritone
How do people know this song? Its from when i was a kid and im old. Lol
Whats the name of the Intro?
She is so amazingly ptetty. Wow
wow thank you!
Henning may has a voice like honey on gravel. 🍯
I really enjoyed your reaction and your review.
Thank you so much!
Guys on hat are percussionists, show some love to my people hehe😉
The CREATIVITY
Just straight fire, your people are slipping.
Tension in his neck? Yes, it's ok. He'll be alright....
It’s natural. Check the cover of “Valerie.”
This is a great piece of information for all - Suzanne Vega says ua-cam.com/video/D99PhzEIWuA/v-deo.htmlsi=3K4FkPyuwgidSXQp
In the morning
At the diner
On the corner
I am waiting
At the counter
For the man
To pour the coffee
And he fills it
Only halfway
And before
I even argue
He is looking
Out the window
At somebody
Coming in
"It is always
Nice to see you"
Says the man
Behind the counter
To the woman
Who has come in
She is shaking
Her umbrella
And I look
The other way
As they are kissing
Their hellos
And I'm pretending
Not to see them
And instead
I pour the milk
I open
Up the paper
There's a story
Of an actor
Who had died
While he was drinking
It was no one
I had heard of
And I'm turning
To the horoscope
And looking
For the funnies
When I'm feeling
Someone watching me
And so
I raise my head
There's a woman
On the outside
Looking inside
Does she see me?
No she does not
Really see me
'Cause she sees
Her own reflection
And I'm trying
Not to notice
That she's hitching
Up her skirt
And while she's
Straightening her stockings
Her hair
Has gotten wet
Oh this rain
It will continue
Through the morning
As I'm listening
To the bells
Of the cathedral
I am thinking
Of your voice
And of the midnight picnic
Once upon a time
Before the rain began
And I finish up my coffee
And it's time to catch the train
dont worry thats just his voice :)
ive listen to them before he just sounds like that:)
Damn Germany changed a lot in 85 years 😂
