A step-by-step Walkthrough of Wretched Vats (Doom 64, Map37) for the PC, played through Steam, on the Watch Me Die! difficulty setting. 100% Kills, 100% Items, and 100% Secrets. MAP37: Wretched Vats is the thirty-seventh map in the 2020 re-release of Doom 64 and the fourth map of its new The Lost Levels episode. It was designed by Samuel Villarreal (Kaiser) and uses the music track "Warped".
03:36 - Secret 1 - Chainsaw.

I may be weird, but I consider Doom 64 to be a Christmas game. Was snowed in my place in 2021, just me and my German Shepherd sitting in my living room as I played this and it really caught the atmosphere of being trapped in my house with a blizzard raging outside. It was probably the use of green and red light in these Hell levels that convinced me this was a Christmas game 😅
Lol the smell of a fresh snowfall always reminds me of GoldenEye since I got that game Christmas 1998
You sure have an interesting perspective on Doom 64 that I can agree with. For me, I see Doom 64 as a really dark and atmospheric game (just like Doom 3) and it reminds me of the dark evenings in the autumn and makes me think of this as a Halloween-esque game. So your opinion is quite close to mine
Same feelings about Fallout New Vegas. Just I installed a special Christmas mod and ate candies playing this video game
Its not weird. I played original Doom game when it came out near Christmas in '93 so it reminds me of Christmas when I play now it too.

I remember playing this around couple years ago and I was not having a good time playing this cause I kept on dying into the Blue Door area over and over again. Yes I have finally beatin this but even then I was not having fun playing this map. 😠So about a week ago I have played this again on the PS4 version just to get achievements and I finally did beat this on my 1st try without getting killed once which is always a good thing. I did miss out at least a secret or 2 here but I did find them eventually. Overall I still think this map is tough as nails and I still don't like it but now I think this map is not particularly bad either so it's.......okay I guess. Glad that one is over for me. 😄Only 2 (or 3) more maps to go.

Hey BMD, I personally do enjoy your walkthroughs for classic Doom (still on the hype for your Doom Eternal walkthrough [same for Doom 2016], since I'm nearly done with it with 100% completion), but just for some small talk, is it okay for you if my ranking for Doom from least favorite to favorite goes like this?
1: Doom/Ultimate Doom (for obvious reasons)
2: Doom II
3: Doom Eternal
4: Doom 2016
5: Doom 64
6: Doom 3 (don't get me wrong, Big Mac, it doesn't mean I don't like the game, in fact, your walkthrough was what made me buy Doom 3 through Digital Media in my cousin's PS4, so yeah, I do like the game even though I didn't beat it, but I just don't preffer It as much as other Doom games)

Would be so cool if you were to check out/play Freedoom, someone with this much experience with judging maps would be a big boon for feedback for that project.
I know it's not at version 1.0 yet (aka final release) but, it would still be great, might even help keeping the good maps that are already in good, and fix some of the not so good ones.

I guess Blade of Agony is playable again BMD, so I don’t know if you’ll continue the series but I’m not forcing you to play it or whatever.
If this map was already tiring, I’m actually worried about the next map even more. In terms of level length, longer is not always better, especially in old games or games using old graphics. It tends to become boring at a certain point.

I've seriously got to do this mapset again soon. I really like the Doom64 demons and weapons. Using them right now on a different mapset related to Doom 2.
Why are there so many libraries in Hell? Just gives the demons time to pass as they wait for Doomguy to show up?

I've recently been binge-watching through this series while listening to the Doom 64 for Doom 2 ost (specifically the remixes made by Davester2296: ua-cam.com/play/PLDPpmDLSimIDBT0zG44RnuzZVCwocXMQk.html ), and I've decided to subscribe to the channel in the hopes that this series will be finished. I believe there are only 3 maps left to cover for Doom 64, and they are MAP38: Thy Glory, MAP39: Final Judgement, and MAP40: Panic.

Probably not, since the area opens up anyway when grabbing the key. Makes no sense to add that video just to show an obvious area off.
