If i saw that plane up close i would cry for sure... beatiful aircraft
I was in elementary school in the the early 90's on that base. Nothing like being in class and hearing jets break the sound barrier through out the day. I also seen the sr71 numerous times while there.
That is one BEAUTIFUL jet.
Mitsubishi X 2 have better look
@@kaito1213 naw
The Raptor is beautiful
I loved being in Okinawa. Love that island.
God Bless America!
I am Russian and I love the United States!!!!!
Al Johnson im from europe and i still cant decide wich side is the good guys :S
PERPARSON Well.. Let's just make it simple.
Conduct thought experiment during wich imagine Europe covered with the Soviet System (Russia hasn't significantly changed since then).
Then next - imagine Europe having USA as the ally..
If you are familiar with a bit of Modern History - you will have your question asked in just one minute...
+Al Johnson Can you believe a f-18 growler got a kill on one of these using its high tech jamming pods.
+Matt Slattery I've never been able to find any details about this incident, and the EA-18G pilot himself wasn't willing to discuss it much. All I know is that the pilot said it was a "well-timed AIM-120 AMRAAM shot," which to me implies that somehow he happened to be in the right place at the right time. We don't know precisely what role the jamming pods played, although they probably were involved.
For example, imagine a 1-v-several scenario (not the most realistic, but the F-22 sometimes flies these in training as a challenge) in which the Aggressors are practicing their own stealth by switching off their radars, forcing the lone F-22 to emit in order to find them. Confident that he's still safe, he turns the EMCON level way up for long-range search, and the Growler picks him up and starts to jam his radar. He can't see them anymore, but he has a rough idea of where they could be, and for some reason decides to go after the other fighters first, setting himself up in an advantageous position for closer-range shots, instead of going after the Growler (the latter might have been off to the side, relatively out of the way). The F-22 pilot probably pounced on the other fighters, but the Growler pilot knew where he would be, thereabout, and sneaked up behind him for a WVR (even the F-22 can be detected and targeted on radar at this close of a range) AMRAAM shot--splash one Raptor.
I have no idea whether the real incident went down like that or anything like it, but it illustrates one potential way in which a lone F-22 could have been defeated. The F-22 is, of course, not invincible, and likewise its pilots are not infallible. Under ordinary circumstances and when used properly, it is seemingly pretty close to invincible, though, and has a pretty insane and unprecedented training kill record to back it up, but occasionally one will get shot down, especially when starting with a predetermined disadvantage, which is often done these days or else, according to one Aggressor pilot, it would just be a "waste of gas."
In a real combat scenario several F-22s (usually four) would fly in mutual support, which could have made a huge difference in the outcome, and realistically I'm not sure that the EA-18G pilot would be quite this aggressive in combat--he probably knew that they were up against a single F-22 (if that was indeed the case), so everyone went for broke to try to score a Raptor kill, and this time things went their way (minus any Aggressors that might have been shot down by the Raptor first). In real combat, he wouldn't be aware of how many other F-22s are out there, and it's the silent ones that would attack while the one that emitted would hang back. For that matter, I doubt that in real combat the pilot of a lone F-22, left all by himself, would so aggressively go after a whole flight of enemy fighters while being jammed by a sophisticated, dedicated EW/EA platform. That's just not tactically sound, even in an F-22, but he did this because he was told to, and the same generally goes for F-22s that are involved in dogfight exercises (in which pilot skill or simply making fewer mistakes is the most important factor). Training is a mix between normal and worst-case scenarios, so we can't always judge things like aircraft performance based on any single exercise, especially if we don't know what the setup was.
rbrtck
If you find out any information on how it happened let me know. Otherwise your statement is spot on. I am sure there is tons of mitigating factors.
Love that plane the canopy is real golden coated!!! Its real gold!!!
Pretty cool video of the launch of all those Raptors.
F-22 and USAF are great.
I hope the bases on Japan soil must move to the US homeland back and allow the Japan to use power own military. Respect from USA.
The shape of this airframe is perfect. In opposition F-35 looks a little bit like somebody had a really bad hang over during drawing...
+Łukasz Bus In regard to the F-35, for one thing they're trying to stuff too much into a smaller airframe (including two sizable weapon bays), which truth be told didn't end up being much smaller if we ignored the wings and just looked at its fuselage in comparison to the F-22's. The F-22 doesn't look all that much bigger, but it does have two engines and much bigger wings for greater power and agility. It also has a heavier structure and engines that can take more punishment, while the F-35 is built so lightly for its size (only has a single engine) that it has more issues.
It's not just the structure, it's all of the components, too. For example, to save weight they omitted a bunch of standard measures that would have helped it survive lightning strikes, so while they're trying to find novel solutions to this problem, the F-35 still hasn't been cleared to fly anywhere near thunderstorms, which is definitely a problem. And its engine, while large and heavy because it generates so much thrust, has been so lightened that it flexes excessively during even moderate maneuvering, which can cause internal damage and failure, and it has failed to contain one such failure (broken blades flew out of the engine, pierced a fuel tank, and caused a major fire).
As for looks, there is no margin for that--it's all bulgy and malformed in some ways because it has to look that way or else they couldn't jam all of that functionality into it. It had better eventually work or else....
rbrtck Not to menion they have to make sure it's still stealthy
The only stealth fighter jet in service in the entire world! :)
Cutwoodnow "Coming to service soon". F22
s been in service with US Air Force since 2005.
Cutwoodnow Neither the Chinese J-20 nor the Sukhoi T-50 are truly stealth. At least not in the same league as the F-22. Neither aircraft sports RAM on the surface and both rely on shape for low observability. Just take a close look at the surface detail for confirmation. In addition, each is about 40% larger than the F-22 and this is no small feat as the F-22 is about 20% larger than an F-15C. Also notice the engine nacelle on the J-20 and T-50. No attempt to make the engine stealth. Everything about the F-22 was designed for stealth.
HornetVF103
I don't think pak-fa even has supercruise engines yet, 2 caught fire according to demonstration flights by india today.
Most of the comments against our planes or any other american marvel are eurotrash or envious losers from countries that produce only shit/
Theodore Von Karman the europe and all yours clever people would speak german if wasn't for the usa. Show some respect. The fighters that you mentions are fourth generations, the past. F22 is the future dont hate it embrace it.
this is a very very beautiful plane.
Awesome
Amazing aircraft. So far ahead of it's time when it was first introduced! Still the envy of the rest of the world's air forces! Beautiful bird!
it looks really cool
In an emergency event, they would scramble the jets (deploy really quick) instead of taking their own sweet time. Ground engineers would get the missles and stuffs ready (They just need to remove some stuffs not sure what but something like tags). They wd most probably have fuel in their tanks.
the best fighter in the world!
holy, its waaaaaay bigger than i thought
Are those external fuel tanks ?
beautiful.
Looks huge !!!
Soo close to 100,000 subs
can I find it on amazon? need to change my car
Did they fly from Langley to Kadena non-stop?
God damn I didn't know it was that big
Joshua Lee yeah saw it in person and it definitely shocked me
+Joshua Lee Has to be, to carry internal weapons and fuel to give it range.
Pilots will give up promotion to be able to keep flying these.
You should see the size of an F-14.
Now you know
That is a cool looking airplane.

Can someone answer some questions that just came to my mind? I have in the past worked with civilian aircraft. Everyone knows they take their sweet time preparing commute aircraft. But it also seems that it takes a long time to prepare military fighters such as these. In the event of an attack or an emergency, does it still take this long to get these fighters in the air? Or is there certain things they skip to be in the air faster? I have also heard of "alert aircraft" from my Uncle. He was in the Navy and mentioned them before. Are some crews/planes kept on a more "ready to launch" status?
*****
Regardless of how you replied to me, I do want to say thank you though for your service to the country. And I really do mean that honestly.
*****
Wow thank you for that... I always wondered. I never considered the early warning. So if jets from another country get too close we see that and they should still have time to safely prep our planes... that makes a lot more sense. Honestly I just thinking "emergency quick get our planes up".. in a no warning sense. I didnt even think of that. So usually even if there is a threat they will have time to be safe and prepared... unlike 9/11 where it started over our soil and there was no warning or time. Now that makes it more clear. Thank you for the info Sir that sheds new light on why they prepare as they do and still manage to be safe and ready :)
To answer question, yes there are things that aircrew and ground crew can and will do to launch a jet quicker. When aircraft are on alert status the jets get looked over really closely and all "issues" are resolved so this allows the crews to fire up the jets, go through pre-flight a bit quicker and launch the jet as quick as possible. Look up "my scramble" part 1 and the follow on part 2. It's an F-15 on alert being launched within a hair over 5 min from the time the crew arrives to the aircraft and when it's starts to move out of the shelter.
foxunitone - " I was wondering if that meant the crew and that plane was kept ready to fly even if its not on sched for a mission of some sort. "
There are training bases and operational bases. In (fighter) training bases, their planes are not used for intercept missions. But, sometimes that base has an area set for Alert (commitment) Mission. Within the alert area (sometimes called Alert Barn), aircraft are kept at launch ready status and the aircrews (and maintenance crews) are kept on call to launch the plane(s). No scheduled mission per se as a training aircraft.
Thank you all for the info.. Its really nice to finally know more about it.
¨¡Hermosa Nave!!
badass aircraft!
Buck Ofama...Bravo F-22...Simply the BEST!
fuck you.
Gotta say both US and Russia have amazing looking planes. Thumbs up for amazing Raptor.
Yes that fat rocket look a like things are external tanks. The plane can add 500-800km flight range with them.
Pretty looking airplane.
I DONT KNOW WHY THEY CALLED IT RAPTOR, WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN NAMED "PTERODACTYL"
Look at that cockpit it sure does look cool texture is amazing all-round
いつもパイロットが持ち込んでるカバンは、何が入っているの?
what is the bag for? no idea what's inside
+permitivity m If he's headed home, then it's probably some personal items and things he couldn't normally get past customs. ;) There are probably some Skittles and a cold Mountain Dew in there, too. That's just a half-joking guess.
I was two when this came out and now I live on this base
what a beauty.....
best plane ever, but unlike the T50 and J20...it doesn't have front fins for extreme maneuverability..any thoughts?
Nice aircraft. Expensive too
external fuel tanks on an f22..doesnt it negate the stealth factor?
Only used for ferrying of the Aircraft long distances to minimize the need for In flight refueling.
Please excuse a very clueless civilian for daring to ask a question.
If the Raptor is supposed to be a "Low Observable Aircraft", aka 'Stealth'. Why does the aircraft in this video, have what appear to be really big 'bombs' mounted on 'hardpoints' on its wings?
i think that the back tyres needed some air. Correct me if i am wrong :P
nice airplane
Did anyone get a star wars vibe when he was getting into the plane you know in the a new hope movie they get into the x-wings
OK now I know what an F-22 Pre-flight looks like.
Still looking ahead of its time
that's a pretty boy!!!...yea...I'm sure it would do its,job very well too
Can it transform?
Actually..... It can transform a Russian plane into a smoldering pile of ash.. Lol
You have failed me yet again Starscream!!!!
first aircrat to taxi out , the tyers looked slitely deflated . Is that Ok ?
Were conquering the world. These guys just having a picnic
Easy to forget how big these birds are 'til you see the pilot doing he pre-flight...
No takeoff?
They are having drop tanks and bomb racks. Does that affect their stealth, and are they able to jettison it, including the racks, to go to stealth?
Well I am sure that they are usefull for long transfear flights, besides you do not want to fly around beeing stealty unless its a "sharp" situation. No point in letting the other side see your full capabilty.
Possibly, but probably not if you look at the rest of the design, they have gone to great length to put things behind doors. If the tanks where conformal they would be a lot stealtier. I think that they just dont care for ferry flights. Or wants them to be misstaken for something else. Then drop the tanks and disapear (allmost)
Conformal fuel tanks, such as those seen on the F-15 and F-16 blend with the aircraft, and are quite aerodynamic, not the ones seen here. I suppose these were just training missions or when the pilots were ferrying the jets back home....
+kssudhirmig With external stores of any kind, the F-22 loses its stealth capability. However, the stores and the pylons can all be jettisoned in flight to restore its stealth capability. The only compromise is that the mounting holes would normally be plugged for combat operations, while they would be left open if external stores were carried initially and then jettisoned. These little holes compromise the F-22's stealth, but only a little bit--it would still be considered very low observable.
+kssudhirmig I think these guys are headed back home. This squadron is based in Virginia, so it's going to be a long flight, although they may stop at other bases along the way.
As for training missions, it depends on what they're training for. If it's combat training, then the F-22 generally will not be carrying tanks (unless they're training specifically for that, which would be rare). The F-22 must be stealthy for proper combat training, so the Luneburg lens pod is removed for that as well (although I have seen exceptions, such as international training exercises, during which I guess the F-22 is not stealthy in order to keep others from getting a close look at its radar signature).
Looks like alien technology
f 15 can still fly with one wing they should test it on f22 XD
F-22 with drop tanks look like Su-85
I didn't know the F-22 has the configuration that lets it carry external fuel tanks.
+Mario DeLaurie It probably won't ever do this in combat because it wouldn't be stealthy, but the F-22 actually has a total of 4 wing stations (2 on each wing) that are rated for 5000 lbs each (20,000 lbs total). All 4 are plumbed for fuel tanks and wired for smart weapons, should the need for them ever arise. Currently the F-22 is only cleared to carry fuel tanks and dual rail launchers for air-to-air missiles. Bombs could be carried on the wings if they are ever cleared for carry (testing is needed), including potentially 4 huge bunker-busting bombs on one mission, but that will probably never be necessary because the F-15E, the F-35, and strategic bombers will be handling that stuff. With 4 dual rail launchers installed, the F-22 would be able to carry a whopping 16 AAMs (8 external + the normal 8 internal AAMs), but because it wouldn't be stealthy in this configuration, this probably will never happen, either.
As for fuel, the F-22 could carry 4 600-gallon fuel tanks, but in practice it never does because if the tanks won't be dropped, then the drag from carrying the outer 2 the whole time after they're empty (and they would be used first) makes the F-22 use quite a bit more fuel in total. On its own, its range would still be increased, but not by enough to make it worthwhile, and for really long flights an aerial refueling tanker would be used anyway, so 2 tanks (or none) is usually sufficient. By the way, the same is true of the outermost 2 tanks that the F/A-18E/F can carry--it never does except for buddy aerial refueling at short range. The only time 4 tanks would ever be loaded onto an F-22 is when maximum range is required with no tanker support available (not inconceivable in a major conflict), in which case the F-22 could drop the tanks as they're emptied in order to minimize drag and maximize range, as well as return to its stealth configuration.
I wish an F22 was my office!!
كم رائعة موعظة ممتاز
Where the shelters to small to house the F-22 in ? Why are they all parked outside ?
Good notice!
No we can put two f-22s in each hangar, done it before. They are def not small at all. The reason why they park outside cause of the fact that we fly them.... That's kind of why they are here, we only pull them in for maintenance.
i hope these arnt getting replaced by f35?
That's a big fighter.
All anti Americans PLEASE leave UA-cam ;D its made in USA. Btw nice Video love IT
im taiwanese can i stay? :)
There is a difference between being objectively critical of America, and being Anti-American. Some simply are not mature enough to realize it.
Borticus Snorticus
Hell, I'm American and I'm critical of our politics! Love our country though and wouldn't live anywhere else. Too many power hungry, self serving people in government destroying their countryman's lives in too many countries. There wouldn't be war without bad, greedy, corrupt, governments. Awesome plane BTW! Very sexy looking.
USA is owned by Israel dude... Just saying.
Amir Ali I think you have it the other way around
Looks like they are flying back to Guam
Are those extra gas tanks under the wings???
Yes
I bet the Japanese are delighted to see the American planes on its soil
+nedjom1 Some aren't but some are. The JASDF and Japanese government wanted their own F-22s, but unfortunately for them (and perhaps for the F-22 itself) the US government outright banned its export.
Why is the canopy orange?
+ShadowHunter it improves visual perception
+ShadowHunter Thin layer of gold for controlling internal and external electromagnetic radiation i.e. Stealth.
It is to absorb radar also..
They use a complex process to vapour deposit (I think Gold) onto the canopy to reflect radar. Otherwise the Radar goes into the canopy and bounces off all of the sharp angles in the cockpit like the instrumentation. Thus the color.
Thanks for the info above guys! Very helpful.
I hope USAF has improved since 9/11 where they were nowhere to be found.
You have no clue what you are talking about Nick.
I know Ming I was airborne that day.
MingGang Wang We didnt know it was Osama on that exact date, you fuckin moron. Alot of high political people were allowed to leave that day and the next. Get a dam clue you idiot.
MingGang Wang Ming I was legitimately airborne on the 11th , you believe what you like.
faabound don't mind this guy, he is anti usa to the core. it does not make sense responding to him
This is are f 22 f 35 ..there are not superior anymore it's like a joy
TSP = Theater Security Package
Its a bit bigger than f15 but sits lower
Liberals and left wingers hate videos like this, In their mind it promotes the Military industrial Complex.
Those in Travis county Texas do.
I agree.
I am sure those in California that wanted to ban the US Flag would have a problem with this video, Fluck them.
Fly all the f-22s a million miles.
I wonder if they will ever build the F-22 in a 2 seater.
f22 raptor at kadena air base Okinawa japon
Just imagine what a civilization in space has for weapons, if they are technologically advanced or biologically and exist for millions of years. They'd be able to create universes. Create computers which could even create our reality. In this world anything is possible. Our weapons are powerful we think but in space we aren't even a ant.
👍👍👍
Saw one for sale just under 200 million
I hope to see this plane when i got my work in Okinawa.
Not with long wavelength radars...
weapens are small and why them desappeared ???
Starscream thinks... SOON :)
Wouldn't the tanks spoil the stealth?
In Sweden it would have been airborne in 30 seconds...
najlepsi avion
I'm in this video :| the guy with the red belt
I wonder how sexy a two seat F-22 would be....
Each jet cost the US taxpayer over $342million, enough to buy a squadron of 12 FA-50 or 6 SU-35 fighters.
This plane was never designed to see combat, it was just designed to justify spending by military contractors, in 44 different states so it is to difficult to cancel the program. It also does not handle being wet, i.e rain :)
It is worthless in combat and su27 or su 29 not talking about pak fa t-50 will eliminate this plane in minutes in dogfight. When Australia military simulated air combat between su 27 and f35 and I believe f22, the conclusion was that the fxx planes were shutdown in minutes, it was "like hitting baby seals with a club". Actual quote.
the actual quote was "like clubbing baby seals" and it was deriding the performance of the F35 and the numbers of F22 purchased. had you actually read the RAND report (where the quote was from) you would actually realise that it was highly complementary of the F22.
su27 or su 29
overmatched by the f22
pak fa t-50 roughly equal though less stealthy due to build quality ( see indian military reports)
don't the auxillary fuel tanks make the plane unstealthy?
Mobius Squad
i wish i could fly on that jet during world war 3
rather 75 of these than 75 f35's
+Guy Smith
Problem with that though is that the F-22 and the F-35 are designed for different missions. F-35 isn't the best aircraft at everything, but really, it's meant to do a bit of everything that the airforce has had the eagles and falcons doing and the designs are showing their age, what with being early-mid 70s hardware and all. Also, you just don't put bombs on an F-22, it's just not done, you kill enemy aircraft with an F-22 but you don't send the F-22 on Strike missions. The F-35 on the other hand is called the Joint Strike Fighter for a reason.
Its so freakin' cool to know that some F-22s arent stationed and sitting in the US. There are actually some stationed in fucking JAPAN?! This is too cool....
Sorry Japan this isn't for sale 😬 😅
This F-22 Raptors and the F-35 are not superior no more, because it can be detected from long distance by the Chinese new advanced radar and shot them with a long range anti aircraft missile .
Thats bullshit. Chinese does not have any such radar. They might develop a low frequence radar, but the problem is that its very unaccurate and useless.
Dont believe all the propaganda from chinese and russian clowns.
its hard to see what you can't detect, nothing is fool proof ,but it is pretty hard to see.
Norwegian733 the ONLY clown on this planet is called USA.
SUB ZERO LIN KUEI No, but you seem to be to stupid to understand any of this my friend.
Norwegian733 Yes.......and you have achieved the ultimate stupidity believing that the USA is even a nation and the worst is you think that there are living inteligent people there......
Pathetic.
Us military has to thank Lockheed Martin. Lol
