About the United States Marine Corps:
The Marine Corps defends the people of the United States at home and abroad. Within every Marine is the willingness to engage and determination to defeat any adversary, and it is this fighting spirit that allows us to fight and win our Nation’s battles.
The mission of the United States Marine Corps is made up of three promises: We make Marines, we win our Nation’s battles, and we develop quality citizens prepared to fight and win battles.
You don’t join the Marines-you become one, forged in the crucible of training aboard our recruit depots on Parris Island, South Carolina, and in San Diego, California, or through the dedication required of officer candidates at Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia. Beyond the physical requirements, aspiring Marines must prove they have the honor, courage, and commitment to face and defeat any obstacle.
Today, more than 180,000 enlisted Marines and 23,000 Marine Officers serve in active duty or reserve forces on bases and in communities around the world, proudly carrying with them the core values of the Marine Corps.

Years ago had a flat tire on way back to Ohio from east coast. A guy calls his buddy if he can help an Ohio guy. Sure thing. I drive on to his property and see the Super Fi decal on his car. Thank God, I thought, a US Marine will help me. And he didn't stop until he did. I offered him some cash for his hard work. He just smiled, politely declined, and said, "I did it for the sake of the good deed."
Bless these men and women of our armed forces, and a special shout out to our Marines, the pride of our nation.

As the son of a WWII Okinawa Marine, I’d have to agree with the statement, “the Marine Corps is different”, but in a good way. He taught me everything I needed to know & stood up for his men afterwards, getting only 1-2 hours sleep after a 16 hour shift. I miss him everyday, and didn’t realize his impact on me till many years later? Luv you Dad, RIP!

Becoming a Marine was definitely one of the greatest moments of my life. The sense of joy and relief during the Warriors Breakfast is second to none. The realization that you really made it through something with people you end up becoming brothers with at that time is special. That hike to the parade deck took everything outta me, but when we got there, every second of boot camp was worth it. I would 100% do it again if I could go back in time knowing all that I know now.

Our Instructors were making us Honor Platoon. We knew it. I was going to get a meritorious promotion for being a squad leader. I knew it. Once we were done with The Reaper the weather was cold rain. Our Warrior's Breakfast would be served in the chow hall. As such we had to shower first.
In the squad bay our Senior says he knows about the rumors. You eat all you want and they smoke you afterwards till you puke.
He promised us that we would be allowed to enjoy our meal because we earned it.
I ate 5 steaks and an unknown amount of eggs and potatoes.

Being Honor Platoon was a nice achievement for me. Being meritoriously promoted for acting as 1st Squad Leader since Week 2 was a very proud moment for me. You know HP gets to lead in the graduation motivation run. When I saw my family I could see how proud they were too.
They knew already. My name had an asterisk next to it in the program.
I still talk to some of my boot brothers.
I went on to invade Iraq with The First Team as a Son of Chesty [1/7] and then visit for 2 more extended vacations. I saw some out in the sandbox of ancient wars. T'was good and merry in a bad place. I talk to them still upon the innernets.
I would do it again. I'd go back to boot but I need the same guys and same instructors.

As a retired Seabee Chief with 23 years active duty, my fondest memories were with the Corps. The one thing I admire the most about the Corps is the brotherhood outside of the Corps. While former navy doesn’t care about each other, the Corps is totally different. It’s common to see Marines taking care of each other outside active duty. The other services especially the navy couldn’t care less. Try walking into a navy recruiting office as a retired chief and you’re lucky to get a hello. Walk into a Marine Corps recruiting office and you’ll get immediately greeted with “How can I help you!!!” My son saw How I was treated hence why he went in the Corps. Semper Fi Marines 👊🏻

I saw our senior throw his cover out the window arguing with the 1st lieutenant about sending a recruit home who was a shit bag malingering rock. Senior put it on himself saying send him home too. Later found out senior was a gang banging thug who was forced into the Marines, wound up going to 8th and I, Silent Drill Team and earned a Silver star in combat. Pure respect to ALL honorable Marines, Sailors, Airmen, Space Guardians, Coasties and brother soldiers! The Marines have the hardest Basic Training and are NO nonsense about mission focus. Being on a “float” for 6 months can suck! But they are “Naval Infantry.” Great add for Marines here… Marines have not lost their way yet with LGBTQ, DEI and other distractions from training to win every fight. But just the same, I have met hard-core professional airmen in PJs and CCTs every bit as hard as any Marine. I met SEALs as hard as any Marine. I have met Army Special Forces, Rangers and Paratroopers as hard as any Marine. The Army is about winning wars with draftees and is a HELL of a lot more than just “armor.” Combat troops win battles and Logistics win wars. If you need to win a battle, send in the Marines. If you need to win a war send in the Army. They compliment one another and having worked with Marines I acknowledge they are tighter as a whole compared to the other services because the Marines have an “ethos.” The Marines are not getting there without the Navy…. Same for the Army in many cases! Most Army SF guys I knew were super intelligent as well as self-motivated and fit. One joins the Marines to prove to the world they are a man (no offense intended for our women veterans). Most Marines get out after 4 years. They proved themselves and are glad to be gone but miss the fraternity. And real warriors know Marines HAVE left Marines (alive) behind! Read about the Raiders in WWII and the Mayaguez mission. In the final analysis, all are damed good! But I congratulate the Marines for a recruiting add that is mission focused and not social revision in nature. The Navy needs to point out “Taffy 3!” The Air Force needs to point out shooting down Yamamoto and bombing Berlin. The Army has so much good and bad it is ridiculous but they need to get back to “Be all you can be…” showing paratroopers as well as logistics and medical soldiers. Semper Fi.
