This is why I like watching the Appalachian Channel for the small cafes and grocery stores in the small towns like this. there are still a few cafes and stores like this here in the Texoma area of Oklahoma but not as many as there used to be but I like seeing these areas of the country thanks for showing the awesome places and scenery there Thank You.🇺🇲🤠🇺🇲
Thank you for sharing. I love Saluda! I've actually visited that store. When I travel from SC to visit my son in Asheville, I take the back roads and go through Saluda. Two years ago I had to have a new tire put on before I could travel home. There was a place in Saluda that went over and beyond to get and replace my tire. ❤️ I wish I could remember their company name. It was a bit off of the main area. But first class service all the way!!! 👍🤗🙏
Oh my goodness John. I've never heard of this place. But I want to tell you that I absolutely loved it. This family is incredible and awesome 💯😎 for what they wanted to do. These old places need to stay alive as much as possible because that is how it was back in the day and we can't forget about it. I want to thank everyone on this video 📷📸 for a job well done 💯✅👍 May the good Lord always bless you all and keep you all safe and healthy where ever you go
Hey John my friend. Way to go on the videos. Your doing an excellent job. May be your getting a bit of help with the videos... The barndaminium was great, I am just starting to watch this one. The food reviews are great too...😂😂😂😂❤❤❤ thanks again and God bless you and keep spreading His love where ever you go.
I’ve already been on the phone, calling friends, planning a road trip (with cooler for sausage, chicken salad and pimiento cheese) to Saluda. Thanks for introducing us to these gems, tucked away in small towns. Cant wait to take a ride.
Hey John, we just went here yesterday and it was wonderful. I had the hottest pastrami Ruben and potato salad and my husband had the chili hamburger with fries. However, I wish I had watched this first so I might’ve ordered the fried green tomatoes. They look delicious. We really enjoy your videos. Continue the good work Hats off to the cook and the waitress at the grill. They are great down to earth folks. 11:16
I visited today. Like I said from the video before, the store doesn't appeal to me, but the Grill makes up for it. We had the fresh Pork Rinds with pimento chesses as an appetizer the 50/50 burger with fries. Our granddaughter chose the club with fried pickles. The food was spot on.
Been there many times.love it.The old hardware store next door to this one was run by an elderly gentleman and my first time visiting was like 34 yrs ago.I walked in and was greeted by the old gentleman and offered salt water taffy to chew on while looking around at the antiques and purchasing a few items.Sadly he passed and the shop was shuttered many years then re-opened in early 2000's.
Food looked great. The chef was really kicking it up making it look easy but I know it’s not easy. I was ready to leave home and come get those fried green tomatoes. Loved the old store too.
Thanks 4 Video John.. If their sausage is a good as "Bass Farm Country HOT Pork Sausage " made in Nashville, N.C. it has to be GREAT... No sausage around here can equal Bass Farms Sausage HOT or MILD. I just LOVE the HOT... Much Love my brother.. P/S...I am try to head to Elizabethton, TN. real soon maybe I will see & get to meet you somewhere along the way. Love Your Work. Never Stop Filming !
We were there last year but the diner was closed that day. We saw the Pace general store and grocery store, both were cool. Got a coffee at the shop around the corner. Monkey 🐒 something 😂 Plenty of parking by the railroad tracks or up the street by the bridge. Parked my Rv up the street with no problem. Go to the grocery store and GET SOME SAUSAGE 😋 it’s great.
You know we are all born to die and in our world and country this is the only GLUE that holds us together and GOD we lose our love ones everyday and we can,t bring them back but these places takes us back in times we were together in similar times together and life or our life's that is were simple this and our old music is all that's left keep these VIDEOS A coming AC John
I would like to see scenes of the countryside, as well. All that heavy food is why 77 percent of those recruited through selective service will not be fit for duty.

Excellent John another two historical facilities up and still serving the people. Thanks for sharing.
I ride up there from Greer all the time to eat. I'm the wedge salad guy! 😂Great restaurant, great video!
This channel is such a chunk of American history.:) It's like a living postcard from Saluda.:)
Love your channel this is my hometown, Charlie Ward had the best steaks! He was one of a kind and his mom was too.

I love old stores like these. The grocery store reminds me of the one here in Walnut Cove where Mama shopped many years ago.
Man, I haven't been up Saluda Grade in a solid minute... recon I'll head back up there.

Thanks again 😊
Man you sound like Billy Bob Thornton are y'all kin to each other I enjoy your videos brother
I'd love to find a place serving the delicious looking, fully cooked fried food as shown in this video. Seluda would be a stretch for me.
We were there last year but the diner was closed that day. We saw the Pace general store and grocery store, both were cool. Got a coffee at the shop around the corner. Monkey 🐒 something 😂

Saluda, NC. was/is famous because of the railroad as I recall.
Yep, the Saluda grade is/was the steepest railroad around. Forget exactly but you are correct.
I forgot to say that's some good looking food 😋
John, Did you eat all that food?
I'd guess that's about how most all grocery stores looked until the advent of the "super market" in the 50's and 60's.
Ward's should put some Cholula Sauce on the tables. That should be hot enough for those who want spicy but don't want to die after eating it.
Are you tell them priddy already stand from 1880...10years older than them?
What happened to Jody? Don't see her anymore
Hah, I know everyone in the video. Just up the mountain from me.
Is this guy videoing is he Tom hanks brother?
