Hi larry borkstrom, I like them original too as you get to go back in time and see what the Designers and Engineer were doing at that time. You're welcome (and it's my pleasure), Lou
Nice. It took FORD until 1949 to shake off the pre-war designs and get a fresh new look they called the Shoe Box . The 1951 FORD car had moved the trunk hinges inside for a smooth rear deck , gas filler was move from below the Windsplit to above it easier access , Center grille bomb was now 2 small spinnner ones down near the bumber on the each side , first year for Key starter instead of push pedal on the floor. This was the last year for 2-piece front window , 52 had gas filler was at rear center above the bumper , last year for the 1949 style horizontal rear lights where 52 had extended chrome ring and cone lens while rear quarter panel was now flush . The 52 rear design stayed the same until 1954 , the 1955's were a new design with the Fairlane added the car line. I liked how these older cars held on to the general design so you could trade in your car after 3 years with no major changes. Cadillacs would morph slowly until sales made a big drop and then the next generation as we saw for the Corvettes .
My first car was the 1950 and it was a hard top. That old flathead was such a robust engine and it was so quiet when I got her from the original owner but forgive my teenage self who managed to remedy that situation with glass pack mufflers. I loved rapping off those pipes. Thanks for the video, that is the most exquisite example of a 49, 50, or 51 Ford I have ever seen.

Hi Pontiac GrandPrix73, Glad you enjoy this car :-) I enjoy searching car shows and garages to bring you something I think we'll both enjoy. Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
It's nice to see an old Ford restored to bone stock condition including single exhaust. 51 was the first year for Ford-O-Matic. Fortunately, this car doesn't have it. It was also first year for key start. In 1949 the flathead V8 was redesigned with the distributor on top and so much easier to get to for servicing. This is a super rare model. I don't think I've ever seen a 51 convertible. Ford also made a very nice Country Squire wagon in 51 with real wood. They started using artificial wood in 52, but they were also very nice.
This is a Miami Beach auto one would take to Wolfies for a sandwich and then a dip in the ocean. With the top down, and the wind in your hair, the sun shining down through the palm trees, ahhhhhh, life is good indeed.
