So very many things can go wrong or don’t pan out as expected between the ages of 16 - when the predictions were made - and 24, 25 when we get an idea of what sort of player the kid has actually grown into. Finally, it’s light years from the Dominican dirt fields to MLB competition. Flashing tools is one thing; becoming an established MLB star day in and day out is quite another.
